Republican Vice President Guy Scott has accused the opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy (MMD) of having enacted Laws that disadvantaged villagers by allowing individuals to own huge tracks of farm-land.

Dr Scott says the move has resulted in the displacement of villagers.

Speaking when he addressed scores of Vubwi residents at Kachile School today, Dr. Scott said the move resulted in the underutilization of land by the farmers while the local people did not have land on which to cultivate their crops.

ZANIS reports that Dr Scott observed that there was high demand for land among the local people in the area.

But responding to the statement by Dr Scott, MMD National Secretary Muhabi Lungu told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the PF has been in government close to three years now and should therefore correct any wrongs that it felt were committed by the former ruling party.

Dr. Scott is in Vubwi to drum up support for the PF candidate Margaret Miti in the Vubwi Parliamentary by-election set for next Thursday September 11, 2014 .

The Vice President also stressed government’s commitment to addressing the needs of the people in Vubwi district which is one of the new districts created by President Michael Sata aimed at taking development closer to the people.

He cited some of the projects that were underway as the construction of the Chipata/Vubwi road, schools, post office, a district office block and feeder roads as some of the major developments taking place in the district.

“We will also ensure that the Rural Electrification Authority (REA) will connect the district to the national power grid, “ said Dr Scott.

The Vice President also said that government would rehabilitate the Vubwi/Zozwe road after completion of the Chadiza/Vubwi road.

Dr Scott noted that government would ensure the improvement of the mobile phone network which was difficult to access in the district.

He appealed to the people of Vubwi to vote for the PF candidate Magret Miti if they were to see enhanced development of the newly created district.

“The MMD failed to bring development to Vubwi since 1991 when it took over government,” he said.
And Dr Scott advised the people against listening to those spreading falsehoods that President Michael Sata was sick.

He stated that the Head of State was well, in good health and busy working for the people of Zambia as he wanted to ensure that he took development to all parts of the country.

Meanwhile, Ms Miti appealed to the people of Vubwi to vote for her on September 11 and pledged to bring development to the area because she was in the ruling party and also in good books with the local traditional leadership.

The Vubwi parliamentary constituency seat fell vacant following the nullification of the election of MMD’s Eustarckio Kazonga by the Supreme court due to electoral malpractice.

  1. Scott passing the buck again. PF was supposed to solve all the problems that UNIP & MMD created, from a people’s constitution, POA and other inhuman laws.

    • These PF f00ls have nothing to tell the electorates. Guy Scot is lying again, the ownership of vast land was started by colonial masters thats why Guy Scott himself owns vasts amounts of land. Is he going to free up some of his land to let some people settle?

  2. Lies have become contagious among PF membership. Guy Scott was in MMD cabinet debating bad laws as he now calls them, and in PF claims MMD passed bad laws. Who can believe this man with his swine gate in MMD. As if the lie is not enough claims Mr Sata is well and fit working in state house. This how Kabimba fell from grace claiming president Sata had sent him to go round the country. Lies are truly contagious, look at Sata who was part every government in Zambia including the white colonialist one, today claims no development has ever been made by coloniolist, UNIP, MMD and now PF as its inactive head. Lies Lies lies etc

  3. Eh!! Did everyone fail to catch Scot’s line about the exchange rate? On the 21hrs news, I clearly heard him say “That is why we let the exchange rate to be at K6 to a $ and not K5, so that you may have more money for your produce.” Is that really how it works? Economists, help me!!

    • If this were true, they would have told us this logic when there was an uproar about the exchange rate at that time. This is mere politicking AKA telling lies. You do not need an economist here.
