Zambia still in Ndola after Charter delay

Share

Zambia’s departure for Wednesday’s 2015 AFCON Group F qualifier against host Cape Verde has been hit by a 24 hour delay.

This is after the no-show of their chartered plane from South Africa for the cancelled 06h00 hours departure on Monday for their gruelling nine hour flight from Ndola to Praia.

Officials said Zambia are now expected to leave for Cape Verde on Tuesday at 06h00.

The trip will see Zambia make a seven hour flight from Ndola to Dakar for a refuelling stopover before heading back West on a two hour flight to Cape Verde.

Tuesday departure means Zambia will almost hypothetically head straight from the plane to the stadium to face Cape Verde on Wednesday for the 19h00 kickoff that will be televised live on SuperSport 9.

Meanwhile, the team trained without any hassles in Ndola as they patiently waited for news of their departure.

Zambia have one point, two behind Group F leaders and hosts Cape Verde.

  1. NEXT month the games will be played in the same fashion. With due respect to FAZ, the same problem will arise. Am advising FAZ to select 2 NATIONAL TEAMS,One to fly out toNIger and play the game. The other to remain in ZAMBIA and await the Niger team. We WILL WIN BOTH GAMES SINCE THE COACHING IS ON AUTO CONTROL. ANY COACH CAN DO IT.

  2. This is the reward of not having own airline, You camped in SA instead of using home grounds to plough back the money spent for domestic use. You want $600millions to be paid to mining companies. You send politician abroad for treatment all these = milking mother Zambia 🙁

  3. You can’t expect anything good from tired legs 🙁 Therefore, Don’t blame players or coach if there will be poor performance.

  4. ….and in other news; FAZ has chartered a wheel barrow and a few donkeys in case the plane doesn’t arrive from South Africa.

  5. @FAZ when will they ever learn? Always problems which even my 10 year-old boy can successfully plan for. Now I have come to understand why we don’t see goals when Chipolopolo fans are highly expecting them. The reasons is quite clear, FAZ and their comrades on the so called technical bench DO NOT PLAN FOR GOALS THEMSELVES hence the presence of Mayuka, C. Katongo and J. Mulenga all of whom need intensive lubrication.

    • I agree that Zambia national team should have left on Sunday or even better still immediately after the Mozambique game on saturday to show that they are serious and good planners.
Poor planning on the part of FAZ and certailnly we dont expect a win from tired legs and minds.

  6. Dear All
There simply was poor organization of Zambia for this trip, because the quickest route to get to Cape Verde is: Lusaka / Luanda/ Praia-Cape Verde, operated by airline TAAG Angola.
One thing is certain we will receive very well to Zambia in Cape Verde.
