Calls for me to come back depend on the decision of Zambians-RB

Former President Rupiah Banda

Calls for me to come back depend on the decision of the people of Zambia and I would not want to see Dr Guy Scott eat his own heart, former President Rupiah Banda has said.

Mr Banda was reacting to Vice-President Guy Scott’s disparaging comments against the former Head of State while on a campaign trail in Eastern Province.

Dr Scott allegedly told the people in Chigwe in Vubwi constituency and Chiparamba sub-centre in Kasenengwa constituency that he would eat his own heart “if Rupiah Banda Nyama Soya” was to bounce back to power.

Mr Banda said it would be unwise for the vice- president to eat his own heart when the wishes and choices of people should be respected.

He advised Dr Scott to shut up if he had nothing to tell the electorate. Speaking to the Daily Nation in an interview, Mr Banda said Dr Scott always got excited during campaigns and did not understand the reason why the Vice President made such derogatory statements against him when Zambians were free to express their feelings.

He said Dr Scott always lost his thoughts whenever he was talking to people during gatherings such as political party campaigns.

The former Head of State said as a person with a heart for the people, he would not want to see Dr Scott eating his own over people’s decisions.

“How can Dr Scott speak like that? I remember when I was leaving (for South Africa on Saturday) and he was travelling to watch the game (in Ndola) we hugged when he said bye to me at the airport. Zambians must know that he gets excited when he is campaigning. Scott cannot eat his heart and I would not allow him to do that.

“What Dr Scott must know is that all this depends on the people to decide who they want as President. We cannot control the feelings of the people, so it must be left to them to decide. This country belongs to Zambians and it is not Scott to dictate what they want,” Mr Banda said.

He said it did not matter to him that the vice- president had called him “Nyama Soya” or any other names because he believed in peace.

Mr Banda advised all political leaders to desist from spreading hate messages during their campaigns. He said Zambian politicians should draw lessons from Kenya and warned that hate speech had a potential to breed chaos.

And the MMD in Eastern Province has warned Dr Scott to desist from insulting the former head of state. MMD Eastern provincial secretary Samuel Phiri said that it was unfortunate that 50 years after independence, Zambia still had leaders who lacked respect for other leaders.

Mr Phiri said as a party they would not tolerate derogatory statements against the former president and warned that if Dr Scott continued, they would have no option but to bar him from entering the province. He said Dr Scott should accept the fact that there were people that believed in the leadership qualities of Mr Banda and that it was his right to contest in any election if he so wished.

  1. Iwe RB, unama which people want you back eh? just bring back the money you stole from me then perhaps I can forgive you and ask you to try your luck, but anyway, you will be too ‘young’ for today’s politics. How is Thandiwe.

    • My sources tell me that he is being asked to come and take over UPND

My relaible sources are also saying that he has been left with no option but to take over, the man is older than Mr Sata and yet he is kidding the public?

What my sources are telling me is that He feels he has unfinished business.

What I don’t understand is what is going with UPND and most importantly Mr Sata

Remember there are more Universities, Airport have been renamed, roads built, Investors are fighting to come to Zambia
Schools built, all this under the name of PF and Mr Sata

This is a failed attempt my sources are telling me

      Thanks

    • Kekekekeke truly Guy Scott get excited on rallies, he will apologise again in parliament. That is only politician I know who knows how to say “I am sorry”.
HH always address him MR. SATA
but Sata used to call RB that NYAMA SOYA, I forgot that. The other one was CABBAGE. That Sata is mwanti mwaliba amano?

    • Nyama soya is just politicking.

Who in their right frame of mind would seriously ask him to come back into active politics?

Zambia is not short of leaders to eat its own vomit

    • If RB came back into Politics, I would certainly vote for him. Not because I support MMD but because he is a leader and a national leader at that. His language, reasoning and public utturances cannot be compared to any current leader, be it opposition or incumbent. It is these attributes that cost him the presidency because he was being mature about politics and our economy while Sata and M’membe were being dirty and malicious. Today, the Post that was so vocal has been exposed as nothing but a deceiptful lot who were in the fight to save themselves from paying debts owed to the nation. It has failed to provide any credible evidence to support the screaming headlines. In short, M’membe fed us lies about this Man to safeguard his own evil schemes.

    • Strange that people on this site can actually divert from commenting on the harm that Guy Scott is causing his fellow elderly citizen. When such stupid remarks get out of hand and cause chaos in our country, elderly people, children and women are the majority victims. I find it strange that a potential victim (Scott) can be uttering such nonsense to another elderly, potential victim, to whom we all should be looking up! Scott should be ashamed of himself! What lessons can all the children he was addressing at the rally get from his utterances?!!!

    • Zambians should really take time to read before commenting on issues. It’s so disheartening to see the levels of illiteracy on this blog. The former president was responding to Guy Scotts uncalled for comment. RB has in no way said he is coming back. But if you want to hide anything from a Zambian put it in writing. All bloggers do is read the headline, jump to their own conclusion and unleash verbal diarrhea in the comments!

    • @Dr. Corpus callosum

It is you who can’t read! Mr Banda has stated in his reply to Guy Scott; that he would come back if Zambians wanted him.

The ‘healthy’ response from citizens in this blog should be insightful and affirming on the real feelings of the ordinary Zambian citizen.

It’s fair to say most people wish him to retire permanently. It right that we comment on the contents of the article from all angles. That is the point of social media postings, that people give an opinion. NO MR BANDA. BAD IDEA!

  2. IWE KABOLALA, WHO WANTS YOU TO COME AND STEAL AGAIN. YOU SEE, THE LAW IN ZAMBIA IS SO SLOW SUCH THAT EVEN THIEVES STAR LEGITIMIZING THEIR THIEVING. ZAMBIANS ARE SO DAMN TO EVEN THINK OF THIS OLD THIEF. MULEFIKAKE FI FIBANTU FIKABOLALA BWANG BWANGU, BEFORE THEY START MOCKING CITIZENS.

    • @Peter
      Concur fully with you.
(Peter think about turning your capitals down. As etiquette rules on typing text, say, Capitals indicate Shouting. You are better off using caps for certain words and as a way of expressing/indicating your anger for instance and effect. It is hard to read a good commentator when all their text is in capitals).

    • Imwe naimwe ba Alabi ikalenifye muli bakote. Munzi nkalako na nzelu. Who wants you back anyway? Back where? You belong to the dust bin shikulu. We are fighting to remove one shikulu, and you another shikulu want to come back? No wayyyyyyy!!!

  3. MOST SCHOOLS TODAY DEPEND ON SOYA CHUCKS FOR PROTEIN .ULEMU AND PEACE AZUNGU.IF CHILDREN IN BOARDING SCHOOL ARE EATING SOYA THEN RB DO NOT BREAK ANY BONES MWAMI.

    • Iwe Hambilwi Bana, damn Tonga cousin, this is what Patriot Abroad is advising against! Any way id!ots type in capital letters!

  4. Iwe shimpundu don`t even entertain thoughts of doing that. Your time is gone baba, i advise you to continue with your retirement. I will eat my leg if you come back.

  5. Uyu umusungu natumpa sana….I am starting to agree with HH, his statement was not racist after all. Nshifwaya uulanda pali Kalu,Sosala na RB

  6. I for one don’t want him back…. Forward with the nation. Where are all these calls of him coming back stemming from. Are people scared HH will win the 2016 ? Is this what this is all about? Shame on us as a nation.

  7. Tired Old men. Both RB and Scot-free. RB is a gentler soul though. Forgive Scot’s rants..dimentia, parkinsons, down right stupidity etc, the brain has shrunk. Like the goon in state house, he is not in charge of his faculties half the time. Can’t control what is coming out of his holes. Governance of this once great country has ebbed unpalatably. City hall has been reduced to the city centre toilet as once reported by one Lackson Nthani. Pathetic *****s..

  8. Banda should maintain his retirement from politics to retain the respect he is receiving from Zambians. Zambia is not short of leaders to take over from PF in 2016. Banda has a lot of skeletons in the closet and we dont want to be taken back to those days of manipulating the constitution for the benefit of those holding high offices. We shall never support such a move. Is MMD saying that it does not have capable leaders to organise the party? MMD should not waste our time. Further more its easterners seeking Banda’s return!

  9. RB, we respect you please dont lose it. No one wants you back. In fact UPND or PF will whack you with a big margin this time around if you dared coming. For now dont be cheated by some of you corrupt relatives that want you back

  10. Good response concerning Dr Scotts’ words. However, just sit back Presedent RB. No matter what people say.

  11. Awe…… No, what about us young ones when will it our chance if all you old ones keep hanging and what about you grandchildren? By the way….. When you enjoy your retirement? But africans give me shocks! Am decades away to 65years old which by THE way is retirement age this side of the River but am already seeing how I will enjoy. Terrible indeed, Zambians we are the only ones who can kill this cancer of old people steping on our dreams, Alabee tuzinkhalako na nsoni haven’t you made enough or you want to come for revenge? Awe No!

  12. Its the old ‘if people want me back’ song all over again. We hear it even today from KK when he says, “IF THE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA WANT ME BACK, WHO AM I TO DENY GOD’S PEOPLE?” I hear people have been going to him saying, “Sir, people are still crying for you.” It was there with FTJ after speaking in Egypt that African leaders do not know when to retire. Look what happened in the famous “Third Term Debate?”

He sarted going round the country with ‘yours truly’ and said, “Let people debate.” If they want me, who am I to refuse?”

Daddy a Banda. Don’t even try. The only people who can perhaps accept you is UPND. They accept anyone. But in MMD and PF there is no vacancy.

  13. Plz live RB alone we want him back in politics imwe bakabwa PF and UPND are confused people u wanted power u got it and now u are abusing it to the worsed. Why are YOU scared of him if he is not a factor to politics? He is a Zambians who should be left to enjoy his democratic rights. He just served 3 years of 10 years term required by the Republican Constitution. Plz PF and UPND BLOGGERS dont think u have monopoly of wisdom, let other people speak in villages who are now suffering for voting SATA and his PF. Now FRED Membe and his post is telling us that PF is most corrupt govt which means the head who is SATA is most corrupt President Zambia has ever had.

  14. Given that it’s pretty much impossible to “eat your own heart” these words sound all too much like one more empty promise from PF.

Rather, if Guy had promised to eat his hat (…….or better yet, some green chitenge?) that could get interesting and might….. maybe might….. just be worth voting for RB to watch the spectacle.

  15. PROVERBS

    Zambian voters
Proverbs 11. As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.

    Mr Banda
Proverbs 12. Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Forget about returning Mr Banda. You still have to answer charges for abuse of office and while this is ongoing; only a fool can put himself forward for Leadership.

  16. In your wildest wet dreams big idyot. We don’t want your plundering mentality in our nation. We’ve done away with imbiciles now.

  17. We are indeed a peace loving nation. For a Scottish man to come and feel so free in our land and join the senseless people who insult others, it is absurd to say the least. “politics are not Dirty” it is some politicians who are really dirty seen by their language and behaviour. We need to build a society that gives its citizens respect regardless of their standing in society.

Dr G Scott, we know you need bread, But do not insult others in your quest to earn your bread. You will not qualify to get social grant from Scotland, so earn your bread here earn it with dignity not by insults.

  18. We have head that he wants to come back, very close relatives and friends, have agreed, his coming back. Nothing wrong for the VEEP to comment. If he really wants to come back these are the issues, he will be expecting. We are told that , he said Mumba has killed MMD, hence, his hinting of coming back. Nyama Ya soya for sure. It’s not an insult to me.

  19. i now believe our old men and women in zambia have nothing to offer. guy scott is always overstepping and rb came out miserable out of power but before then he chose to use his children to plunder the countrys economy for sure even if pipo of zambia have short memories can have they forgen that banda s son still got something to answer to the pipo of zambia no plse go and sleep rb its enough thank you

  20. We need to read Guy Scott’s political utterances with great caution. My observations are as follows:
    (1) Guy Scott’s proclamations that within PF existed a clique of leaders he termed A-Team split the PF membership into two camps: a group led by Kabimba-Masebo, tainted with Bantu-Botatwe plus Lozis species; and another group that secretly revolved around GBM-Chikwanda tinged with Bemba speaking species.
    (2) Guy Scott’s apparent attacks on RB is a pre-emptive gimmick to weaken UPND, a party that is gaining prominence on Zambian political landscape.

Tragically for PF, the Kabimba factor has tended to weaken the PF in Southern and parts of Central and Lusaka Provinces. Very few PF members are smiling in Choma, Chongwe and Mumbwa.

    This calls for GREAT WISDOM.

    • Thanks. But the man is facing theft charges. HH does not need this tarnish on his shine. HH it’s a bad idea. Please don’t ruin your party. Although we tease you, you can’t loose it like this. You have a chance without this ***********gentleman(moderator, I think)! Forget about it.

  21. Just go bwana. U make every Zambian look dull. U are not the only saint for Zambia. Why do we fall recycled stuff instead of moving in different dimension? This RD will come again to focus on Deming with enemies and waste precious time on that. Six u retired graceful. Please retire peacefully. Thank u

    • RB,

Must not even make a tragedy mistake, otherwise he will cry for the last time. Its” “Ka lust kanalengesa” and moreover, RB is too old like Sata, also finished from UNIP dictatorial academy of KK. In 2016, he will be approaching 90s by end of ,(if) in office which might take him to 100. Surely, by that time RB will be on medical tourism and Zambians don’t want any of such, when UTH is getting beyond decapitated.
Currently Zombies, or sorry please, Zambians need a young, diligent, energetic and vibrant leader of foreseeing the current economic growth and governance.
How many times do the recycled in the likes of RB want to prove their failures’? You win and lose some, and that’s leadership of forget me not. Come back for what? Really that Scott could eat his own heart if “Nyama…

  22. Hmm, Mr Past President, which people would want you back – you mean you can’t decide on your own? The Presidency is about administration and management: now if you can’t make your own decisions, how would you manage to make decisions affecting all the people of Zambia, which roles you incorrectly handled during the first opportunity you were previleged to be given?

  23. Yes it is not good for Scott to be disparaging old man Banda, its unafrican. But in all honesty and fairness which Zambian in his right mind would want Banda to come back as President? Let Banda concentrate on his court cases and ensuring that is truant son Henry comes back to answer questions from the Law enforcement Agencies. Rupiah should have never been allowed to be President of this country in the first place because of his chequered past. This country needs a young person of the age of HH or Mumba to steer it forward. The Presidency is a 24 hour job requiring an energetic person, the time for Sata, Bandaand Chikwandais long gone!!

  24. Scott must be more worried about scotlands fight for independence from Britain, on 10th September, makes a lot of sense to me. A “leopard is a leopard” never changes its spots.

  25. Chance comes but once. Nyama Soya had his. He squandered it. In three short years, he had become so big-headed and his sons so adept at the wallet. Who, in their mind of minds, would want a replay of such ignominy?

  26. Come back RB,we’d like to have record forex reserves again, bumper harvests,a sense of direction and a respected Zambia worth visiting by regional heads of state.

  27. RB,

Must not even make a tragedy mistake, otherwise he will cry for the last time. Its” “Ka lust kanalengesa” and moreover, RB is too old like Sata, also finished from UNIP dictatorial academy of KK. 28. Sugar dad…you had it and failed bwana that was on a golden plate.Let those meant for it continue..no more sangwapo just go back kuma farm another good Samaritan may come for u.

  29. #OneZambia !

I love all former presidents and respect them for the services they rendered to the nation. As such, I would like to see them serve in an advisory position.

My beef, is always with the incumbent.

    #OneZambia

  30. MY GENERATION… THE GENERATION OF THE INDEPENDENCE STRUGGLE– MUST NOW GIVE WAY TO NEW IDEAS; IDEAS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY. FROM THIS DEFEAT, A NEW, YOUNGER MMD WILL BE RE-BORN. IF I CAN SERVE THAT RE-BUILDING, THEN I WILL.

    • Soya meat, for vegetarians. Of course RB himself eats best fresh steak from Zambeef.

One of the causes of the French Revolution, was the callous way they treated peasants. They lived luxurious live with not much consideration for the poor.

Marie Antoinette, wife of the King circa 1767-1768, when told peasants were rioting because of hunger, is said to have responded “let them eat cake.”

Effectively RB’s plan was “let them eat Soya Meat.” That is why they give thousands of acres to ‘investors,’ so they can feed you and poor Soya Meat, while they can afford fresh meat and real cows milk. Cheaper.

  31. You can only come in your dreams iwe mambala. We have not forgotten the levels of corruption you made the country experience. Why is your son Henry hiding and the other in prison?

  32. Banda is a dignified gentleman that knew how to conduct himself as a leader, yes I for one would vote for him; he did not insult foreign diniteries and yet use their money, he held press conferences, his biggest let down were his children, come back Banda; we need sanity back in our country, right now we are the world s biggest joke.

  33. RB IS VERY WISE. LOOK AT THE WAY IS TALKING. LEADERSHIP IS IN HIM. I’ll WOULD VOTE FOR HIM THAN WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW. IM NOT MMD BUT NO OPTION.

  34. Lack of familiarity of the English (Ingirishi) language is part of the problem here… The expression is “I will eat my hat” (chisota). Which simply means “I do not believe it will ever happen”. I agree with Scott, RB game is over, but he is still acting as if he can tell government what to do (still in denial that he has lost the presidency for ever)

  35. Eastern Province is always at least a decade behind in Zambian politics! In 1991, they believed that KK will return and they remained in UNIP while the rest of the country was changing and moving on to more vibrant political parties.

  36. What a fantastic boost RB’s “coming back” would be to the fading fortunes of the PF!!! This would be the greatest news the PF ever had since Zambians resoundingly rejected KK in 1991. This is the problem with our politicians: What makes RB think Zambians have forgotten his corrupt regime that turned our country into an “RB & and Sons” enterprise that they would put him right back to continue where he left off with his corrupt children? Because of one misplaced statement from an equally moronic Vice President? Please! Give us a break!

  37. RUPIAH BANDA – osanama antu mdala! Which Zambians would even consider bringing you back? Waibala pamene apa how many Zambians you killed in Mongu? How many Zambians you killed in Mansa? How many Zambians you killed in Mazabuka? The problem with fools is that they forget easily…that is why they never last long. 3 years was enough test, nobody wants you back – it was mistake for Levy Mwanawasa to wake you up in the middle of the night to come and take over the MMD, leaving people who actually formed the party. Stop insulting people, focus on your court cases.

  38. Political Re-entry of Bwezani Banda:
He has to declare his initial decision whether or not to comeback because this is a personal decision on his part; then the people will decide to endorsed him or not. We; the people must know his initial position primarily. Bwezani Banda is the most viable Presidential Material of the good names on the market as of today; provided; given his age and health which he well knows more than all of us he can :
    1. Vouchsafe by the way of providing a peoples driven constitution as his legacy and forever; we all know that we have been cheated before, on this one cardinal issue of the national aspirations
    2. He must declare publicly that, he has no revenge motives given what he has gone through on the court cases
    3. Since he was there when it all started…

  39. 3. Since he was there when it all started with KK; he should undertake to reverse the tribal rancor of Chitandika Kamanga vs. Kapwepwe being reproduced today, out of context;
    4. He can resolve the October 23 1964 midnight unresolved problem of the Baroste Lancaster Deal over the mineral rights supposedly to be deposited to the Lintunga, but opposed by UNIP, which has given so much national pain up today;
    5. Promise; unlike all other previous Zambian Presidents, to be a man of his honour unlike the others that we know that promised the unattainable.
Bwezani Banda is a humane guy; he can deliver if we close-down on him; as a society what Zambia should be in 2064; at the Centenary Celebration
We must back him up on his efforts to make a political comeback; not for his own sake, but for…
