Zambia finally leave for Cape Verde

Share

Zambia’s 48 hour delayed departure to face Cape Verde has ended.

The ordeal ended after 20h10 on Tuesday night when an Airbus A320 chartered from South Africa touched down at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola.

Ten minutes after the plane landed, Zambia rolled into the airport looking relieved that their 48 hour ordeal was finally coming to an end.

Sports deputy minister Christopher Mulenga twice apologised to the players at the hotel and at the airport over the ordeal.

However, while the players accepted the apology, they reminded Mulenga that this was the second time the team had been let down over a chartered flight after last years fiasco ahead of their 2014 World Cup Group F qualifier against Ghana on September 5.

Meanwhile, Zambia are expected to literally go straight to the stadium on Wednesday evening to face Cape Verde following their last minute dash to Praia on a nine hour flight.

Zambia are two points behind Cape Verde on one and three points respectively heading into match day two of the 2015 Africa Cup Group F qualifiers.

    • FAZ is a corporate institution. It’s not a soccer team which anyone with experience as former soccer team captain can run. Again, we all know that forecasting, planning, scheduling and budgeting are management responsibilities. It is the failure of FAZ to perform these duties that has caused all this, coz people overrate themselves and take up jobs that far beyond their comprehension. I wonder if these people can even read and understand a financial statement. Obviously, they were cracking their heads about which SA company to pay for the flight chater service that would allow them to EAT. And it looks like they used the boss’s business account, or that of his wife!

Agreed. But I think Kalu’s hands were tied by Kambwili. You know how overzealous that ‘fart pig’ can be. Be that as it may, Kalu should shoulder some responsiblity as FAZ president. Exposing fat Albert via a last minute tweet just simply doesn’t cut it. But this shouldn’t surprise Zambians. What do you expect when you have an incapacitated president in state house? Like I have said before, the Pf government is a kantemba, when the owner is sick, the mice (Kambwili and co.) get out to play. There is a saying that goes.. ‘a fish starts rotting from its head.’ All these shenanigans are indicative of the capability of the head of state. We have a rotten government, finish en Klaar!

  1. Whats long with Kalu and his Faz ? Shows how incompetent the guys managing our team are. I will maybe just become a Kalu hater like that blogger Jay Jay. Who fly`s for more than 12 hours and plays within 24 hours ? The boys needed to acclimatize.

    • When does a government ever handle these things directly? The responsibility is FAZ’s! In fact one could argue with enough examples – some too tragic to go back to – that it is precisely because the government usually involves itself too much that we end up with these fiascos.

  2. You must understand that those hired do not want to see Zambia win the match.. Indirectly killing the game. Why not hire from Proflight zambia? Bupuba 🙁

    • If you have nothing to say, keep quiet!
We cancel your negative tongue, in the name of Jesus.

Remember: ” Affliction shall not arise again for a second time”.

      Sealed and delivered!!

  3. Very unfair in all fairness, but that’s how things can turn to be sometimes.am sure if things were in your control you would probably have left on Sunday.anyhow, it’s national duty, go and show them guys.you have our blessings.safe flight to and fro.

  4. I have been to Praia, the place is usually hot and humid and it’s a higher attitude than Zambia. I mean their airport is literally top of a flattened mountain. Our team needed at least a day or two to acramatize.

  5. SPORT Ministry & FAZ, KuWaYaWaYa Fe”When NKANA FOOTBALL CLUB were playing CAF CHAMPIONS & CONF. CUP on Saturdays we were stating off on Monday or Tus”. If MOPAN & NKANA FC can do that why SPORTS MINISTRY (GRZ) & FAZ start off within 24 hrs?.

    MALABISHI!

  6. This is Zambia for you, even when people fail to perform their duties we dont care. Honestly when did CAF release the fixtures for the Govt and FAZ to resort to making last minute flight arrangements. Shame upon them and if the boys dont do well the same useless so called leaders and officials take turns in condeming the players. Expect the worst thrashing tonight by Cape Verde because you do not expect players who have travelled the whole night and sleeping on the chairs to do miracles.

  7. When govt want to correct the wrongs in FAZ, one little monkey runs to FIFA for protection . When there is no transport for the players the little monkey blames govt.

  8. Good morning all,

    Kind regards,
