People’s party President Mike Mulongoti says those advocating for former President Rupiah Banda to make a political comeback should realize that his time is long gone.

Mr. Mulongoti has told Q fm in an interview that leaders should realize when they have outlived their usefulness.

Mr. Mulongoti says thoughts of having Mr. Banda return to active politics and contest for the republican presidency should not be entertained, adding that such thoughts are unhealthy.

He adds that it is time for Mr. Banda to take rest and accept that he had a chance and his time has passed, hence the need to give others to the chance to rule the country.

Mr. Mulongoti says the people of Zambia have nothing against the former President, but had a feel of his governance and believe they should not go backwards but move forward.

He has further advised Mr. Banda not to listen to those advising him to return to active politics but rest and play an advisory role.

  1. Mulongoti whom are you speaking for? Zambians or yourself? If Zambians want RB, who are you to say NO? This is democracy Mike, sometimes you will not like what democracy brings. Thats just how it goes. So please stop mourning. If RB decides to come, let him come and if Zambians still need him they will vote. But please dont deny Zambians choices

  2. Hon. Mulongoti seems to assume he has the monopoly of wisdom to decide what moving forward is in the Zambian context. That is just your thinking Hon. Of course some Zambians may agree with you but its not everybody. To some of us, moving foraward in this case means deakling with the immediate hurdle of finding a person who can unite Zambia and get us out of this mess. Non of you current opposition leaders can even dream of dislodging PF. Think about the bigger picture Hon. Life is not always about you and you only

  3. The current socio – political situation in Zambia is very worrysome. Tongas are pulling in one direction. Bembas are also assembling to work together, etc. Zambia needs RB to nullify these compartments and bring our politics back to normal otherwise we are headed for doom as a country. Its not yet too late and it is sad some people like Mulongoti cannot see how much we have slided over 3 years in terms of disunity as a country

  4. RB must be a dull character who cant read the minds of people , doesn’t he know that it is the same people who voted him out of office ; if he impressed the electorate while in the office they would have kept him in , what he should know is that he had the advantage of winning as he was in power ; now he is out what does he think he can do, he cant see how he sold some institutions like PTC, FINANCE BANK , and other mistakes he made , the removal abuse of office

  5. Who is Fooling the old man to even think he can stand a chance of ruling this Nation again….? come one guys we need to be serious! its only three years when we rejected or when Zambians resoundingly rejected his leadership because of the way h ran this country with his two sons who are facing teh law and one is on the run. even RB himself is still in court.

  6. Besides, we are tired of recycling old retired, tired and clueless polictians. bringing Banda back as Zambia president is retrogression. Is he the only person in Zambia? What did he forget in the state-house that he desperately wants to go back and retrieve? He is also an womenser. He can never be president of Zambia again. Someone needs to open up his skull and impress it upon that he is damage goods and Zambias neither wants nor needs him. He should retire back to chipata and let us have peace.
