PRESIDENT Michael Sata yesterday paid Copperbelt Patriotic Front (PF) officials and Ndola residents a surprise visit.

Mr Sata landed at the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport aboard a Zambia Air Force plane at 10:59 hours and was greeted on arrival by Local Government and Housing Minister Emmanuel Chenda, Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge, Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Deputy Minister Susan Kawandami, Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Howard Sikwela, senior Government officials and PF members.

The President then proceeded to the presidential guest house on Kabelenga Avenue where he held closed door meetings with Government officials and senior Copperbelt PF officials.

Copperbelt PF chairperson Stardy Mwale said in an interview later that President Sata appealed for unity in the party as the tool to win the 2016 general elections.

“The President has sent a message to all PF members on the Copperbelt to be united despite the recent happenings and to work closely with the new General Secretary so as to win the next elections,” Mr Mwale said.

He said President Sata appealed for order, discipline and loyalty.

Mr Mwale said in turn, the PF Copperbelt top leadership assured the President of total loyalty and support.

He said he would not hesitate to discipline anyone who would defy the orders of the President here on.
Meanwhile PF General Secretary Edgar Lungu said at the airport that scooping three out of five by-elections held on Thursday was an indication that the party was on course for an overwhelming victory in 2016.

Mr Lungu said the party grabbed three more seats on Thursday from the opposition which was clear that PF was on a good course.

“People have been saying the party is disintegrating but these election results show that we are strong.
“Come September 19, we will have four new seats out of six that we have taken within one month,” he said.

Mr Lungu said the fact that it was four women out of five that won elections on Thursday showed that women had an important role to play in elections.

He said he was grateful to the electorate for conducting generally peaceful elections, saying that was how things should be.

Mr Lungu left for Lusaka with President Sata and the First Lady Christine Kaseba who had accompanied the President at the presidential guest house in the afternoon.

They left at 17:39 hours after greeting PF members and Government officials.

  1. Notice the maturity of the statement unlike HH

He looks healthy he is loved and he will win in 2016

    Great man. Happy days

    Thanks

    • Mushota and salusosi keep Saying their sources. Who are your sources. You have taken over Lusaka Times. Ban these 2 please. Twapapata please.

    • @Bana Chibuye
We have taken over because the truth has set us free unlike other people who took over in the past and were later found to be liars and pessimists. For example where is Wanzelu who kept on insisting that “Sata died on the 7th July” ? The problem with most of you is you kept on believing the nonsense LLoyd Himambo was writing on his Zambian watchdog. Next time try to use your independent (and unbiased) judgement to analyse issues.

    • Cold-season of 2014 (May to August) is to be remembered in the history of Sata. He came out humbled, Lesa ni Malyotola.
Ba Sata mulelya no bwapona, glory be to the almighty God.

    • Just want to salute Mushota and Saulosi, they are doing a good job on LT, debating with facts instead of fantasies. Keep it up guys.

    • The president is talking of uniting the party,Kambwili was attacking steve chungu publically Yesterday. The SG has to call kambwili to order……

    • your sight is as screwed up as your brain. what has HH done to you? or are you afraid of him coming into power and you losing the fabulous salary you earn?

  2. Mushota my frend ur right! UPND has a lot to be ashamed of. Som1 u say is abt to die start appearing frm nowhere lookng fit. Lie number one. Pipo thinkng they are popular only to win one out of five by elections. Lie number two. Isn’t that chelleh behind the president o his twin. Lie number three. The only truth here is that HH is a failure. All we have seen is that pf will always increase while upnd is making its to the dust bin of history.

    • Leave HH alone, he never got fired like Kabimba. You PF just recovering from power struggle, you are so lucky that God had mercy on Ba Sata. Keep praying for him, he is still a sick man.

  3. The truth is PF is a working govt no doubt about it. pipo have seen what this govt is capable of. come 2016 PF will get not less than 70% votes.

  4. Shame on UPND vampires who were waiting to feed on the president’s blood. Come 2016 HH will be sent back to what he knows best- herding cattle. Chakukalipa iwe.

  5. My friend you can win numbers but a really human being with maturity will look at what was promised to the people and what has been achieved. Then you can say this is a man of intergrity, responsible and accountable.

The PF gave us the following commandments to be fulfilled.
1.Introduction of windfall taxes on mining companies
    2.Lower taxes
    3.More money in peoples pockets
4.People driven constitution within 90 days
    5.No casualisation in work places
    6.Freedom of assembly,speech and association
    7.Reduced meal meal prices
    8.Lower fuel prices
    9.Reduced cabinet
    10.Restoration of Barotse Royal establishment.
Can somebody with a score sheet calculate what % we have scored so far?
Bye-Elections are good but in Zambezi west you have promised a bridge across Zambezi,a boarding…

    • @sundan. YOUR LIST MAY EVEN BE SHORTER THAN WHAT THE PF ACTUALLY PROMISED. BUT POLITICS IS A GAME OF NUMBERS. THE PF MAY EVEN HAVE SCORED ZERO FROM WHAT THEY PROMISED. BUT HAVE THEY STILL MANAGED TO KEEP THE PEOPLE ON THEIR SIDE??? THAT IS THE GREATEST QUESTION. THE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE REASONS WHY PF HAS FAIED TO KEEP SOME OF ITS PROMISES. “UNDERSTANDING” IS THE WORD HERE. PEOPLE HAVE ALSO FORGIVEN THEM FOR MAKING SOME WILD PROMISES. THE OTHER THING TO KNOW IS THAT MOST OF US VOTED FOR SATA AND NOT NECESSARILY PF. WE VOTED FOR SATA BECAUSE HE IS A MAN OF ACTIONS. NOT NECESSARILY BECAUSE OF WHAT HE PROMISED. AND A GOOD OPPOSITION SHOULD BE ABLE TO ATTACK PF FROM THAT FRONT. OTHERWISE YOU WILL KEEP LOSING ELECTIONS WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING WHY SATA IS SO LOVED.

    • That is right Chisenga, people voted for Sata and not PF which means in 2016 when Sata will not stand, who will vote for PF then?

    • @DUDELOVE, NOW THEY WILL VOTE FOR PF BECAUSE PF HAS DELIVERED THE MOST IMPORTANT PROMISES OF ROADS, TELECOMS, RAILWAYS, HOSPITALS, SCHOOLS, UNIVERSITIES AIRPORTS, ETC. AND MIND YOU I ALWAYS READ FROM FOREIGN MEDIA AND THEY SAY ZAMBIA IS NOW A HUGE CONSTRUCTION SITE. IF FOREIGN MEDIA CAN NOTICE THE DEVELOPMENT GOING ON IN ZAMBIA, WHAT MORE OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE COUNTRY ON THE GROUND? YOU GUYS CAN PRETEND TO BE BLIND WHILE PF PERFORMS AND GET MORE POPULAR WHILE YOU SINK.

    • #6 I AM PRETTY SURE THAT’S HOW YOU EVEN INSULT AMA TOLLEY YABAWISO. WHAT A SHAME- MR SATA IS A FATHER AND GRANDPA FOR YOU TO REFER SUCH WORDS TO HIM. DID YOU HAVE ANY MORAL LESSONS FROM YOUR PARENTS IF EVER YOU EVEN SAW THEM?

  6. I really wonder if pipo like mushota @ her fellow crony looters are tightly screwed in their gray matter! Please mushota @ your fellow looters can your please for once be futuristic and save mother zambia via rational @radical thinking. Can your please have a forsight for your children @ start economic revolution contetions @ advocations for mother zambia.Surely, we can transform this zambia through changing this Bemba rule dominance system as RB once said! Surely other tribes MUST BE TRIED NOW! Suporting an incompetent leader without any strategic social @ economic policies is tantamount to homicide. Zambia is at a verge of having a life president should we vote for a competent presido in 2016 because pipo have really suffered under these ruthless, tribal, incompetent @ unhuman looter…

    • Well who is better than sata ?

You talking of your perceived flaws of the government and not offering solutions.
      What would you like ?

MCS is the best of the rest. Your country is a third world country. Anyone can criticise without offering solutions.

      Thanks

  7. He may have recovered but nothing changes the fact that he is still a clueless president with zero strategic thinking, zero competence as a leader, zero knowledge of progressive fiscal policy, zero adherence to democratic principles etc. We were critical of sata’s leadership before he dissapeared. Now that he is back, we will continue being critical. Unlike shallow PF cadres who celebrate for 40 days and 40 nights at the sight of this frail president like he is some sort of god, some of us look at the pertinent issues currently at hand and demanding his attention. Like it or not Sata is a ceremonial president and is only good for impressing empty heads like Mushota. Otherwise as a president and compared to real presidents in other nations apart from Zim, he scores a zero in my books.

    • It is your prerogative dude to state your limited opinion.

Does a PhD student have an empty head?

Be constructive and have respect for the elders. I am almost 28 years old and no on calls me an empty head.

President sata is a caring president who has implemented all his promises. The constitution is just a side track used by the opposition to offer unworthy criticism.

We are better than Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria, Mozambique ,

My sources tell me the word on the ground is that president sata is very healthy and and is for a vision for zambia until 2021 which will surprise you.

My sources also tell me there will be masses of defections from UPND to PF soon

      Thanks

    • Be nice Muma. I am
Just a seeker of justice and the truth.

I say nothing absolutely nothing but the truth.

You know it, and I know it.

      Thanks

  8. Lets not go around the bush , ZWD lied to you. According to them the man was in a vegetative state after a failed operation in Israel. Moral of the story, start visiting websites and not dogsites…

    • Would you say the world media lied about Schumacher having been in a vegetative state? Michael Schumacher was in a vegetative state but last week he was released to go home. Remember it has taken three months of intensive care to get Sata to be seen. To be seen in a seriously weakened state.

    • Sata is a servant of the people and he owes us an explanation for his 90 day absence …are you telling me you would let your servant disappear for even a week without an explanation and continue paying him? That’s what we are doing with this deadwood Sata. Why is it so difficult for you zombies to see that its wrong for him to disappear and still continue to drawing a large salary and yet on his watch the mines are looting our resources.
      Wake up from your docility!!

    • What is clear is that Sata is not well. You can stick your heads in the sand but looking at Sata it is clear that all this activity will take its toll on him.

  9. To the contrary! Third world yes BUT yet undisputably very rich in natural resources and human capital which is mismanagined at will: anytime; anywhere; anyhow any…’My friend, Mushota’,I really dought if at all you are a zambian because (standards of living and) the income disparities @ inequality, poverty @unemployment levels are choking and pipo are despondent! Govt should seriouly cut wages of anyone worker getting above ‘say-15,000.00/month in all ministries;govt should consider downsize its cabinet or drastically reduce their wages_say -10,000.00.Govt should seriously monitor the infrastructure development as there’s no value to the borrowed eruo-bond perceived-check the railwaylines especially mulobezi one!Road to sesheke from livingstone just surfacing slowly at less than…

    • @ the civilized, that’s what an exposed person should be brainstorming of,am not bothered by Mushota who failed G7,7 times.but people like saulosi who at times exhibit intellectual prowess are the one am very much worried of because we are supposed to enlighten our old unip type of mentality like uncle Daniel mukombwe.we can differ but let it be based on ideological approach of solving our country ‘s problems.which type has a pro business approach, and which one has a pro welfare, which one promotes social changes and the one with the best agricultural program.

  10. Shocking that Mr Sata’s supporters are judging his record and achievement in office thus far based on his perceived recovery from his alleged illness. He must be a luckiest (or perhaps the most strategic) president who goes missing for few months, rumoured to be on a death bed and re-emerges to dismiss his most trusted confidants, and boom his poor record in office is no longer an issue, no longer debated by his supporters and ordinary citizens. It’s like Kabimba’s firing has diverted all the attention from Mr Sata and his govt’s poor record.

Could he please at least stop using state resources for his PF party’s businesses. This is abuse of public resources and the opposition should be talking about this. And we are seeing the same trend of a party in govt winning..

    • Continued…just like it was in the MMD govt. The party is power is always winning by-elections that they couldn’t win when they were in the opposition. Yet they don’t have any better record to support and justify their winning. Is this really proper democracy with free and fair elections? My observation tells me it isn’t. We really need to change our democracy because something isn’t just right here… not level playing field, rigging, abuse of govt resources, etc. Something has to change.

    • Your analysis is not only brilliant but also extremely realistic. How the heck does an appearance wipe out a record of poor governance and incompetence? The calibre of PF cadres is mind boggling and totally embarrassing.

    • @Maverick: You are way off the mark. Society will not penalize anybody for getting sick, presidents included. If anything, Mr. Sata, if perceived to have been sick, is more like to draw sympathy, not ire from the public. That the matter of his illness was kept a secret can be seen as a way PF smartly waded-off alarming the public.

His recovery and re-appearance are positive developments. His party winning the by-elections by a landslide speaks well of PF’s prospects come 2016. Firing WK shows that he is the man in charge and that he is ready to revamp, re-organize, refurbish and re-structure PF which, at best, had become badly fractured under WK. Let’s give credit where it is due. Mr. Sata is a smart and competent politician.

    • @ Mei Matungu, not sure what you are going on about… perhaps your comment again and see if it makes any sense with reference to what I have written above.

Look no one is saying Mr Sata doesn’t deserve sympathy from his supporters for recovering from a disease he has not publicly acknowledged. By all means throw him a party all you want. But this should never be used to mask his govt’s poor governance. Whether Kabimba is gone or coming back, that doesn’t take away the fact that the PF govt’s performance has been dismal to say the least. This he must be answerable to the nation (regardless of what has been happening to him). In short I don’t care about whether he was sick or not, let him explain his govt’s poor record to the nation. I hope that helps!

    • @Maverick: Politics is all about perception. That PF has won 4 out of 6 most recent by-elections tells me that they are being perceived well by the public. If PF are performing poorly, as you have insinuated, then the opposition should have capitalized on that and denied PF the landslide victory it got. Instead, it is the opposition who are bleeding, having been so brutally hacked and trounced by the ruling party.

I take note that most, if not all, of those by-elections took place in non-PF traditional strongholds. What do you tell me if a political party is losing its political base? That is what I see happening to the Opposition in Zambia. Consequently, your allegation of PF’s poor performance seems redundant. Sadly, even your posting above is devoid of factual data.

    • @ Mei Matungu, I’m nobody’s cadre and as such my writings are not influenced by support for anyone, hence ‘Maverick’ alias choice. I don’t judge the performance of a govt based on their ability to win elections, not in Zambia anyway. In other countries yes. Read my comment above about free and fair elections and level playing field. If you believe in these sham elections then good for you. KK ruled for 27 yrs and MMD ruled for more than 20 yrs and won almost about every by-election. What is there to show in terms of their respective performance? Man just enjoy the spoils while can but you would never convince independent thinkers like me that this government’s performance is anything to write home about.

    • @Maverick, which poor record? Your hatred for the President has seriously blinded your sense of vision and you cannot see and appreciate what good things are happening in Zambia under PF. The continued winning of these by elections is not a joke for people are not as blind as youand other pessimists are. Zambia is on its way to restoration under the able leadership of President Sata. Go to Zambia and see for yourself, if cannot afford an air ticket, l can help with one way.

  11. The Civilised, you so deluded and frustrated mate, The places you are mentioning are not the only ones with most need of attention? For the past 40 years or so Mulobezi and in particulate Western and Northern provinces have been the least developed provinces despite their massive contributions to the birth of Zambia.
Let us talk about your USA, how many people who are homeless, living in obsolute poverty especially African- American neighbourhood. Surely you are either a bush product to fail to appreaciate that , the current infrustracture development will have impact on the future of the next generation. Zambia is very young compared to USA. Therefore comparing the two is beyond critical thinking and analysis.

    • @pafw..,u mention of African American lacks merit,I worked in manufacturing sector before,African Americans don’t like doing such jobs, they are choosey,so the is difference having jobs available and choosing what type of job one wants.the homeless people are found in all communities most of them are drug addicts,or were incarcerated before on a serious crime.those who are level minded live in housings and their states offer alot of jobs and training, but because they get free house, free cash assist, food stamps, therefore the recipients see no need of working.hom much grants and loans does USA gives Zambia per annum?your excuse of Zambia being a small Democratic nation in misplaced because ,there are alot of countries whose Democracy is younger than ours but are doing far better…

    • The infrastructure development will have an effect on generations to come due to the heavy debt burden we are giving them. The Eurobonds and heavy borrowing will be borne by generations to come. The roadworks being undertaken are massively overpriced due to the kickbacks going to top government officials and their children. The so called massive infrastructure development is not coordinated to bring about real development.

  12. Hands of @Saulosi and @Mushota

They give us mature and unbiased comments and opinions.
Does any mormal person expect PF to lose the 2016 elections, when everyone could see what madala is doing nationwide?

Please go into any bar or church in Lusaka and initiate a debate on what this madala is doing.

The other day when I was Manda Hill, I was left wondering where the other parties would get their votes from?

    • I am one of the people who will vote for the opposition. Do not go to bars but to sober minded people who will tell you that things have never been this bad.

  13. The Bemba President of PF has emerged from hiding to talk to his party members. In the meantime Zambians are still looking for a National leader worthy calling the Zambian President who has the maturity and emotional intelligence to address Zambians and not his party members after missing for months!

    • The problem with most Zambians is ” The Big Man Syndrome” is deeply entrenched in you. You want every policy pronouncement, every small announcement to be made by the president. What is his Cabinet there for? What is the Civil Service there for?

Judge the government based on the policies they direct the Civil Service to implement. It is not the President himself to implement.

Calls for the President to be seen everywhere all the time ends up making them look like dictators which you will again complain about. He said he will not hold Press conferences because he was not elected to talk but to work, and people want him to follow Kaunda’s system of Press Conferences. Some even believe that there is a requirement for the President to hold them. Let the man have his own leadership…

  14. Its sickening to witness such appalling leadership continuously being exhibited by old man Sata; does he really know what the role of a Head of State is? He probably thinks Zambia is a one party state. This is a LEADER WHO was in hiding for 90 days on a sick bed some where and was only forced from his sick due to the pressure we had put on him to come out…I commend the online media and prominent LT bloggers for putting pressure on him as he is enjoying taxpayer’s funds for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

ONE has to look at his actions, statements and outings since we smoked him out from hiding….everything has been in relation to his silly party. The old man hasn’t even got the nerve to address the nation.

Zambians why do we have to put up with this myopic mediocre leadership!!

  15. “The President then proceeded to the presidential guest house on Kabelenga Avenue where he held closed door meetings with Government officials and senior Copperbelt PF officials.”

I can bet you that the only gov’t officials present at that meeting where his useless District Commissioners who are sworn PF cadres. We should have listened to Chiluba when he said Sata is not presidential material, one role he is good at is organizing a political party.

    • @JayJay please desist from calling Zambians names and thinking they don’t think well but you, just pour your contributions and respect opinions of others, its amazing that you continue being negative even when PF scores you just see red.Constructive criticisim will earn us development and i am sure even the PF looks forward to it.The presidential conditions entitles him to draw pay even when on working holiday in Isreal or at STATEHOUSE.Please come to terms with this and open your eyes to see the level of developmental projects in our country ..well done PF

    • We all must die my friend, the chronological order should not concern us. Or maybe you expect The Grim Reaper to give you “juvenile privilledge”?

  16. The COBRA has now rejuvanated we all now need to go in hiding because he will crack the whip. The recluse of the cobra is over.

  17. Give credit where it is due.

Now he is preaching unity within PF. This is political leadership.

    • You misuse the term “Landslide”. Off all the by elections that recently took place the only one that can be described as a landslide is the one won by MMD in Kasenengwa. At least GEORGE MPOMBO uses big words correctly. You seem not to understand the words you use.

    • @ZED JOSHUA: My advice to you is stick with Dr. George Mpombo. I am not a fan of big words per se. Otherwise, like mudslide, landslide is not a big word. It is the simplest and most commonly used among its family of words.

Notwithstanding, I appreciate and will not dispute your observation. Here is why? According to the gestalt effect, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. You happen to be using the parts, i.e., the number of individual votes cast; while I am using the whole – the total number of by-elections won. On the basis of the gestalt effect, the statistic I am using is better than yours. The logic behind my reasoning is that PF won 4 out of 6 by-elections. That is a whopping 66% win! By any standard, that is a “LANDSLIDE” victory.

  18. It’s so clear and very evident that Sata isn’t presidential material at all. He is just lucky and cunning in his selection of cadres. He goes missing for 3 months supposedly ‘fit and healthy’ these fanatical supporters see nothing wrong with that. In a normal society a president would not sh!t on his fellow citizens so blatantly like the Zambian public has been sh!ted on and get away with it. He would have been history already. The president insults his subordinates in public but then this is just sweet music to these lethargic brained cadres.

  19. Lets support the Govnmt of the day. 2016 will come and if you ve grievances register as a voter now so that your opnion can count. I also know most commentors on this site don’t even know the color of voters card. Post 2016 they will continue with your cyber-insults.

  20. Nostradamnass, wabulanzelu…you two freaks have had been given spaces here to show the whole world how shallow you two’s thinking capabilities has always been.we seemed to have our hands folded, thinking you two ‘all one day come to your senses.question is why are you two bent on wanting to see the very wisdomed views being expressed by this lady MUSHOTA get suppressed or rather discouraged? Guys I would have suggested you two please adopt some realism instead of faggotism.besides, you two’s arguments lacks serious reflections on matters that needs to be debated with regards to someone’s rightful opinion.yours is to criticise just for the matter of it.now watch this space because we feel we’ve been quiet enough.

  21. Michael Schumacher was in a vegetative state but last week he was released to go home. Remember it has taken three months of intensive care to get Sata to be seen. To be seen in a seriously weakened state.

    • @zed choshua, what ever your point is what matters at this stage is the President is alive and well and a presidential by election was avoided,as a nation we are still recovering from mwanawasa’s funeral costs, lets wait until the next election in 2016 God bless Zambia..

  22. This post is for pf members,do not advice our opposite their weakness.I mean why re telling them to get rid of heka heka and mumba.please let these two parties see how zambians decide who we want to serve us.bazalila nafuti, just because some swindled chiluba the ramcoz money or he good at preaching the word then you think they could be able to dEliver at presidential level.lubinda/nawakwi can do

  23. God is watching ,your thinking is not Gods thinking . you are not the one who is going to campaign for Him the whole country. Sata should apologise to all the Bemba chiefs then to the Paramount Chief Chiti mukulu Kanyanta manga . If GBM Njala yamunyokola he want to apologise to Sata it is not every Bemba who can be bought . ifipuba ngafyafula nabamano basanguka abatumpa . Taatukongwa nshima nanama .

  24. FORGET ABOUT SOME PESSIMISTIC PIPO SAY ABT MCS. BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THOSE WITH EYES HAVE SEEN THAT INDEED HE IS A MAN OF ACTION.
UMWAUME PABAUME AS OUR FOUNDING AND FATHER OF THE NATION RIGHTLY PUTS IT. ANYWAY JUST AS THE BIBLE CLEARLY PUTS IT,SOME PIPO HAVE GOT EYES BUT THEY CAN NOT SEE,THEY HAVE GOT EARS BUT THEY CANNOT HEAR.
MAY THE ALMIGHTY LORD JESUS CHRIST CONTINUE TO PROTECT THOSE HE SENDS MCS
