A close member of President Michael Sata’s has appealed to the Head of State to cut down the amount of political activities he is engaged in.

Chanda Kasolo who is also Luapula Province Permanent Secretary said in an interview that the first family is concerned that President Sata’s renewed political activities might put a strain on his health.

Mr Kasolo said the family is delighted to have President Sata back on the campaign trail but cautioned that the Head of State needs to limit his engagements.

“Problem with His Excellency is that he is a workaholic, at 77 he still works as hard, you know that he still maintains his office at Farmers House and he continues to work even late hours to run this country and that can be strenuous,” Mr Kasolo said.

“As a family, we are elated to have him cone out a lot more in public and campaign for the party and launch all these development programmes but we should realize that he is aging and he might not have the same level of energy as he used to so we need to factor that in.”

Mr Kasolo said the re-appearance of President Sata in public has shamed all those that wished his poor health.

“It is interesting that all those that pronounced him dead are now embarrassingly quiet. I find it shameful that people can be so evil and pronounce someone dead even before God makes a decision on one’s life.”

Mr Kasolo said the determination by President Sata to change the infrastructure landscape of the nation is what keeps him going.

He said President Sata is determined to ensure that Zambia’s infrastructure undergoes massive upgrade before vacates State House.

Mr Kasolo noted that it would be unfair to expect Mr Sata to be healthy and physically active as he used to be in his days as a fire brand politician.

  1. Do not tell it to the press; you may be misunderstood. There are order presidents around the globe than him who are still engaging the public. If you have health concerns on him; go visit him and advise. After all you are a relative.

    • “…he still maintains his office at Farmers House and he continues to work even late hours to run this country and that can be strenuous…” Mr Kasolo said. What a load of bullsh!t. This country is on auto-pilot. State House has been turned into a huge intensive care unit where the president disappears when he attempt to work!

    • I hope hope this is not misinterpreted. The man is healthy, this is to alow him to concentrate on other strategic issues which matter the most.

The sources of this story though are dodgy , mischievous, and most of all fails short of worthy publication by a noble website such as LT.

Such drivel should be in the ZWD

      Thanks

    • @ Mushota – Sorry Honey, we know how you feel. LOL!

      Just keep wishing OK Baby?

We don’t expect a lampoon like you to be able to tell the difference between fit and unfit.

I, for one, aint gonna keep quiet over this health issue.

      Thanks

    • “Chanda Kasolo who is also Luapula Province Permanent Secretary said in an interview that the first family is concerned that President Sata’s renewed political activities might put a strain on his health“….. this means that Sata has not been well for some time, his re-appearance can cause a health problem

    • Chanda Kasolo is now under heavy fire from within PF for issuing a damaging statement about the President ‘s health and ability to rule.

It remains to be seen if Kasolo will continue in his capacity. If he does then he will be forced to retract his statement and apologise. He will say he was misquoted by PF LT.

    • How has this statement been taken out of context Saulosi? Do you think you might shock some of us and put flesh on your statement or it’s just shallowness as per your M.O.?

    • He was taken out of context because one family member making his personal view doesn’t mean that you have to say his family in a collective sense. The man was just saying how hardworking Sata is and why for his own sake it is important to tone down on his work schedule, not that he is sick or less fit as some of you want to believe.
Learn how to decipher statements and separating the wheat from the chaff.

    • How in the world would you know it was just one family member airing his personal views? Did you give him a call to ask? The headline says ‘President Sata’s family’ Do you not think there could have been a discussion with other family members before this dude decided to issue a statement representing the thoughts of other family members? Did you want the whole family to go talk to the journalist? Try another explanation, this one does not hold.

    • @Nostradamus
Don`t worry he won`t be fired. It is just LT that has made it appear like he was advising him to rest because of his rumoured health issues when in the actual sense he is praising his uncles work ethic and why it is important for him to now slow down down since he is nit getting any younger. The reaction of some the bloggers here is normal. These kind of “ambiguous” statements always ends up being interpreted in biased ways depending on the readers(or listeners) expectation or perspective. For example most of you in the opposition wants only to believe that Sata is still sick, so it is only normal that a statement like this talking about old age has been attributed to sickness. And nowhere in his statement has he said that as a family we feel.

  2. The truth is that Kabimba is no longer there to do his dirty work for him and the corrupt and tribal clique surrounding Sata does not have a good understanding of his wishes. Sata has to do his own dirty work from now onwards.

  3. It is not so long ago when Sata was a firebrand politician. How has he deterirated so much in 3 years? In a way this is an unintended admission that all is not quite as well.

    • Mwautila, I think he was misquoted and I am not sure he is a relative of the President .

      Don’t believe everything you read

      Thanks

    • Mushota in this you are wrong. During Satas first church service after becoming president at St Ignatius, he specifically pointed at Chandas Kasolos father, Mr Peter Kasolo, and acknowledged him as a close relative.

  4. WHAT GOES UP MUST COME DOWN. WE ARE HUMAN AND ARE ALL VULNERABLE TO SICKNESS.

WHEN THE FAMILY HAS SAID THIS THEY HAVE SEEN THAT HIS HEALTHY IS DETERIORATING EVERY TIME. IMAGINE AN ELOQUENT PERSON AS HE USED TO BE IN SPEECH COULD TALK THE WHOLE DAY BUT NOW TALKS TWO -THREE MINUTES, THEN SOMETHING IS WRONG. LET US PRAY FOR HIM TO COMPLETE HIS TERM OF OFFICE AND I KNOW THAT ALL THE THUGS SHALL STRUGGLE FOR POWER.

    TUFWEKO NIFIMBI, IFYO FYAISA.

    • @Semeki, you have hammered the nail on the head. It is true that all of us are vulnerable but I do wonder why PF guys hide the sickness of the president. He is the State president and all of us are under him. As Christians when he is sick, we need to pray for him for quick recovery.

Family members must refuse to allow him contest the 2016 presidential seat. MCS was a counsellor, was a governor/DC, was a Mayor, was an MP, was a minister in many ranks, and today he is a President from 2011 to 2016. Then what will change if he and his family members decided to quit active politics?
I know thieves want to take advantage of his position so that they continue stealing but they are not concerned of his healthy.

    • @Mushota… “Don’t believe everything you read”. I can see not many people believe in what you also write. To you PF is all righteous and have no faults, president can’t be sick and the list of your delusion about HEMCS and PF goes on. You must be leaving in utopia.

  5. ZWD and Changala have been vindicated by this admission that Sata is not fit to run the country. Its nothing to do with age, but utter illness as reported by the ZWD.

The constitution is very clear on the issue of the president’s failing health. A medical board is now needed to evaluate the president ‘s health. If he is found unfit to run the country, he should do an honourable thing and retire on medical grounds. Zambia is not his family property where he can continue to be in charge even if he is not okay.

I believe this statement has been issued as a pretext for Sata to continue hiding from public view so that he can’t go ahead and officially open parliament where is required to speak for more than 3 minutes.

I still, maintain that the real Sata is gone and not in Zambia…

    • If the real Sata is really in Zambia and still alive, I will respect and honour him for life if he can handover power to some one fit within PF democratically .

PF has been known for being undemocratic when it comes to apportioning its leaders with positions. I don’t remember a convention in which most PF leaders were elected.

    • How many time are you going to use the word ‘vindicated’?… lets face the facts. ZWD declared him dead.. last time i checked been ‘unfit’ and been ‘dead’ had two very diffrent meaning! The summary is the guys lied to you. but atleast they kept you entertained with israel and vegetative issues and not forgeting the throat cancer and the camera at an angle and photo shopping. I like them for one thing, they give the already bitter people more to be bitter about..

    • You acknowledged he is not dead now?

You are saying ‘If the real Sata..'( Suggest you are clueless like the majority of haters here, you suggested he was dead (again guesswork , you now also state above ‘ Sata is not fit to run the country…’ WAIT meaning he is alive now? Yet you steal maintain the real sata is gone?

The constitution you are referring to about being clear, states nothing of that kind of institutionalizing a medical board, this was a statement previously issued by other presidents notably his majesty MCS regarding Mr Mwanawasa

I am stripping you naked with the truth, the ball is in your court Sir.

Like Saluosi I am just a seeker of Justice and Truth and your inconsistency is the only thing which is consistent here.

      Which is which?

      Thanks

    • Muma I am in glasgow and we are about to be independent state, out of the shadows of the United Kingdom

He is sick based on what?

      Substantiate your comments please.

      Thanks

  6. Good advice but you fall short at saying he must step aside to concentrate on his health. This country can not afford to keep an ageing president at all cost. Let him retire and work as a back bencher. At least he can have as much time as he needs at farmers house.

  7. Thanks be to God that Mr. Sata is back on the plat form. A lot need your attention your excellency as I have already seen what you have started doing in all parts of the country. Wish you better health.

    • @ AVINOCAYA

Back from where? Paid leave? Hibernation? Please can you be to the point and said clearly from where President come back?

  8. …the question is…..why should he..??…He is a Politian…..every job has terms of reference. If there are any concerns of HEALTH, then the best advice would be to let him give up the office/step aside/down….because that office whether one is only restricted to office, it is still as strenuous…..

  9. There’s no family smoke without fire and no hibernation without winter.Cumbu family trying to fill in the crack before it brings down the whole wall?

  10. The real life is : SATA has really gone down healthy wife NO jokes about it but those who are not seing this are people with hidden agendas . They want Sata to be there for them to be comfortable with stolen funds .[ my thoughts ]

  11. Now Mshilika is walking on the red carpet while mwine mushi is walking on the edge of the carpet. Why not have plain clothed security officers than paraz! It is good to see the old tired man walking again…but do not overdo it

  12. Yes, he should limit his activities but also take a paycut and move out of State House to save the tax payer’s bills…if they deadwood is incapable of carrying out basic day to day chores let him step down, as it is at the moment we are better off without him.
Zambia is a young democracy in need of a young energized leader.

  13. Ultimately, he will know within himself as to whether he should continue in his role. Jesus Christ advised, “For what will it profit a man, to gain the world but lose his life.” Jesus taught the principal of winning by losing.

Personally, I would advise a slow return to duties, concentrating on recuperation at this stage. No more appearances until 19th September. He must rest as much as possible in preparation for 2016.

The worst thing about President Sata was his firebrand image. Critics, for want of a better word, stated his ‘mouth’ was his worst feature. His last appearance at court was the pinnacle of such firebrand-ism.

The irony is lost on his critics. He now is doing what you wanted. No more firebrand. This is a massive improvement

    • Just to add, that President Sata’s Mandate for his gov’t is promising. He is doing the best for Zambia. Bringing up the Poor and improving education for all children. His wife has taken up the challenge to promote morality and ethics in society. Improving housing, infrastructure and access to medical facilities.

This is a Christ like mandate, putting people at the centre. President Sata has established a great reawakening of Zambia that cannot be taken away. I truly believe God wants this of him. People of faith called upon Him and God has reshape dour Leader to carry out the work God He wants for his people in Zambia.

The next improvement is to stop corruption in gov’t. Revenue is siphoned off to private purses. President Sata must bring to book Investors Revenue…

    • I can feel your pulse rate.

You talk sense, although you need to qualify you statement, insinuating he is ill is ill- advised on your party, apart from all that, you speak sense and you are drinking from the same mug I am drinking from.

      Thanks

    • What is the cost of the SATA’s Presidential Hibernation relative to its usefulness? If the morals being preached by the first lady count for anything, has she been back to apologise for her husband snatching machinations before starting her crusade? Those should be the high moral standards of high office for which I can say here that very few of us would qualify. KEEP THE BIBLE/ CHRIST OUT OF THIS SHRADE.

    • @Dr. Eustace Wabo
Unfortunately we are a christian nation. We declared it and must take Christ in consideration. It is okay in this instance to take the teaching of Christ into consideration. The advice and comment is sound. As a proclaimed christian he will know if he ought to go on, is a fair statement. It is for President Sata to decide. As for his wife and morality, far be it for me to Judge her. She is hardly the only second wife in this world, we can’t use that to beat her head with. Her morals are for her to assess. As for her work, it is commendable and we should award her that. May I point out that you would no doubt criticise her if she never did anything but sat in State House. Be sure of your criticism, because they sound unfair and the personal remarks mediocre.

  14. A picture speaks a thousand words – so goes the saying. One look at the picture of Sata says all that needs to be said about his health condition.

  15. SATA HIMSELF LIKES IT WHEN YOU KEEP ON WASTING YOUR TIME DEBATING HIS HEALTH. YOU SAY HE IS DEAD VEGETATIVE, PROSTATE CANCER, THROAT CANCER, KIDNEY FAILURE UNFIT AND ALL SORTS OF INSULTS AGAINST HIM. MEANWHILE THE TIME IS QUICKLY TICKING TOWARDS 2016. THE MAN WILL EMERGE VICTORIOUS IN 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS. THE JUST ENDED BY ELECTIONS SHOULD SERVE AS AN EYE OPENER FOR SOME OF YOU WHO DO NOT UNDERSTAND POLITICS. IN 2016 IT WILL BE POBO AFTER POBO. POBO POBO POBO. POBO POBO POBO POBO. POBO AFTER POBO.

  16. Mr Sata, a sick man used as a political tool in PF government for 2016 elections in self delusion. PF cadres are making short his life as he exerts enormous pressure on his knife edge health. IF Zambia was a nation where laws are respected, Mr sata would not continue to be head of state due to either long absence from national duties or sickness. PF cadres appear amused that Sata is walking around, instead of preparing for future leadership. In the coming days, weeks, and months the verdict will be felt by all of us but most sadly to monkeys in the maize field.

  17. On the Zambian political landscape, you see some form of schizophrenia every day, & it’s always in the form of someone headless like Mushota. ‘Look at that Sata – he’s crazy, hiding from the electorate for three whole months. Chimbwili Kashimba, he looks Boko Haramic. ‘Well, he’s in politics because of mental illness. He probably had a station sweeping job or scrap metal job & a home before. Well, mental illness leaves a huge legacy, not just for Sata, Chimbwili or Mushota, but for those around them too.

  18. The article above suggests that no one else among 13 or 14 million Zambians can run the country equivalent to the case when Zambians thought that no other players could play for Zambian National football team until the whole team perished in Gabon (God forbid). Zambia went on to make another team that reached the AFCON. To suggest that SATA is the only capable leader is insulting to other living Zambians. Another way for the president to reduce his workload due to his age is to resign then someone will come up. He can then play an advisory role.

  19. Reading Mushota’s contributions on this site, one is made to realize that maybe the dividing lines between sanity and mental illness have been drawn in the wrong place. For all purposes and intent, anyone who fails to see that Sata is a very sick man and his presidency is a failed one is plain stupid! However, to cross the line and pant the line that this presidency is the best to be is an act tantamount to insanity! For all I can see, Mushota is sick in the head. I do not know of any clearer manifestations of psychiatric masalamusi than what this whore is displaying!

    • Psychiatric masalamusi! Your horrid out of proportion and inappropriate response to this debate shows an imbalance of emotions. That too is a psychiatric illness! I would say you are a very violent man and clearly misogynist. Calling a woman a whore because they hold a different opinion of you is way out of line. And there is nothing wrong with being mentally ill. It is very common as you can see you failed to spot your illness.

      Ungentlemanly.

  20. The article above insinuates that they want the President to have the cake and eat it alone obviously while they share the crams. Mwanawasa died ‘on the throne’ due to similar alleged pressure by Maureen to carry on which led to a greater cost to Mwanawasa’s family. i.e. losing their family member and a cost to the country. Assuming SATA is sick or ailing there must be a cost being incurred to keep him alive. Other equal Zambians do not have this privilege.

    • There is a lot of persons sick and their treatment is met by their employers and in this case by the country

You do not live in Zambia pays not tax, you should not worry about the expenditure spent on someone who is doing more good deeds to the country than the miniature costings.

I question your sanity and your PhD wherever you got it from, you don’t sound to have a clued up common sense Sir.

      Thanks

    • Am a PhD, a lecturer and a teacher, all these belonging to me no matter what. While conflict is not rational here it’s my duty to teach. In any workplace a sick worker will be less productive. They will be given a week off, no sick note is to be presented to employer on return. Further they are expected to present a sick note from their GP. Further an occupational health worker may be called in to help. A procedure that might lead to resignations on medical grounds (in this case retirement) might be employed to help the situation. By the way when the President was voted into power he was avoiding travels indicating that the costs of a Presidential travel were colossal. I bet you Presidential medical bills must even be more so.

    • @Mushota.

Iwe ka mushota how dare you compare yourself to Dr Wabo who has cracked one of the most difficult subjects which most of you PF minions with weak brains have failed to grasp.

Those fikwakwa qualifications you show off with are nothing to Dr Wabo. Infact if he wanted to do them, he would be exempt from many pre courses and just do the final professional stages. Your PHD ,he can complete it within a year and half because there is absolutely nothing to de-construct,construct and synthesis in your fikwakwa degree.

Have a bit of respect mwaiche. UNZA cooked us in them days and we went to amaze the world with our intelligence.

I am beginning to think that you are a professional student who jumps from one course to another without completing a single course.

  21. One observer suggested that SATA rules by creating conflict and chaos. I did not assume for one moment the SATA’s schemes could visit LT bloggership but it has. Goodluck I ain’t being part of it.

  22. Looking at the emergency posture taken by the policeman & Chellah, plus the sickening expression on Sata’s face, does one really need to be a doctor or a sangoma to see that Sata is marked for death? Death has been among us ever since soon after creation & we now know how it looks & smells! Instead of ducking & diving, Sata should be content with fate because to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! About us paying for Sata’s sickness, the constitution is clear, a president must be of sound health. If he fails, resignation is the only option.

  23. Mushota,
You comments above again clearly show that the failure of your grey matter to create traction from facts as they are presented to you point to some form of retardation. Your mother could have dropped you on your head when you were a baby whence the clear psychiatric traits you’re manifesting here! If a president is senile, like what Sata displayed in court in May or he loses nearly 50% of his weight for no reason, we have the right to speculate he is sick & invoke relevant provisions of the constitution to remove him/her from office! To be stark raving bonkers like you is lunacy!

  24. The kind thing for the family to do would be to forcefully persuade Sata to let go of the presidency. We all know Sata ins’t ‘fit and healthy’ as his family and ministers would have us believe. His life may even be extended if he steps down and try to relax. He has already made a name for himself as Zambia’s 5th president otherwise there’s nothing else for him to write home about. His style of governance is despicable and leaves much to be desired and is best forgotten.

    @Tommy Sankara
I completely agree with you. A picture paints a thousand words. In this picture Sata looks like a dead man walking, I mean it’s so plain that any one with a fraction of brain capacity can easily see that. When stark facts are pointed out this is not being hateful as blind cadres seem to insinuate.

  25. Chanda Kasolo should advise his relative the once King Cobra to resign for his own good. The Presidency is not a light job it needs one who is in tip top healthy condition which Sata clearly is not. He should realise that he is not indispensable and that the country will go without him at the helm otherwise he will go to an early grave. Let him step down and enjoy the evening of his life wife and grandchildren.

  26. What Kasolo has said is an admission that Sata is not fit to run the country. We need him to resign or if he resists, a Medical Board must be constituted to examine his health status to determine whether he is fit enough to discharge the duties of a president. Kasolo and family must be proactive and advise Sata to step aside and allow the country to move forward. Kasolo is missing the point by beginning to shame those who said Sata was unable to perform as president because of his poor health. Zambia is not for Sata and family; it is a country and hence bigger than all of us-it is not personal to holder. Let Sata go so that healthier people can take over. It is very normal to be ill and fail to perform certain functions and it is understandable.

  27. Imwe ba Kasolo if I were you my advice wiuld be retire old man your health is more important than the Zambian economy. I know that’s difficult for you because that would mean the end of your job

  28. This calls for wisdom. Who can claim to know exactly what the first family is saying here? Could this be a way of trying to play with the public mind? Or is this a way of trying to pre-empty an eventuality already resolved within the inner circle? Otherwise, what sense would it be for a member of the first family to divulge an issue of this stature into the public arena? It would, in my view, be tantamount to washing the first family’s dirt linen in public.

We all know how Mr. Sata worked so hard to become president. Many pundits had written him off. Notwithstanding, he campaigned furiously against all odds and won. At that time, his health had already started showing signs of wear and tear. How so very deserving he is now, to enjoy the presidency!

    • That is the flip side of the coin. The other side is that of the Zambian public. For a country that is already limping politically and economically, how well is the Zambian public going to put-up with this obnoxious idea that the president is too sick to function at 100% capacity as president? Why must he not throw in the towel and call it quits so that he can attend to the matters of his health? Has the constitution got any word of wisdom on this developing scenario?

  29. If Mr. Chanda Kasolo is a genuine relative to President Sata, let him come out with the real truth to the effect that “his relative” is a very sick man. Most professional Medical personnel fear that Mr Sata is overstraining himself beyond his physiological capabilities.

President Sata has done his part but all humans have limitations. Mr. Kasolo and all those who care for Ba Sata’s welfare must galvanise an administrative program for their “relative” to retire with full benefits. He needs some rest.

  30. President Sata and Edgar Lungu are the only ones fit to run the PF. I am for president Sata to take an easier approach to work; he is 77 people 77.

  31. Where have you ever been told of a president asking to slow down when the country needs development and is one of the poorest country in the world. Why not just go and rest in peace….

  32. Again the opposition tries to remove a democratically elected President not by the poll but subversive and violent campaigning. The insinuation is that they can win an election after he steps down. But that won’t happen because the last elections have shown how popular the current PF party is. PF would under a new PF leader still win.

The truth is UPND and HH want to throw this country into internal war, so they benefit from the confusion. These are NASTY people, UPND.

  33. Let sata step down and be replaced by hishimba ‘wild’ Kambwili. Zambians are docile and damn stup!d. Even a pig can be president
