MMD President Nevers Mumba says he is not losing any sleep over heightened reports that former President Rupiah Banda is eyeing a comeback to politics.

Dr Mumba said he is not bothered by such reports describing them as mere rumours.

He said he has avoided commenting on such reports because he believes that the reports are mere rumours at this stage.

The MMD President however said the MMD will rely on the constitution for guidance if Mr Banda attempts to make a political comeback.

“The comforting thing is that the MMD is a well organised party with a clear constitution. If at all we have a situation like this, then the constitution is adequate to provide guidance on how we proceed. As far as I know I have a five year mandate to run the affairs of the MMD as provided for in the constitution,” Dr Mumba said.

Dr Mumba said the MMD is currently re-organising itself in readiness for the 2016 elections adding that the party leadership is preoccupied with that mission.

“We are really engrossed in ensuring that the party moves forward. We are not reading a lot into some of these rumours because we know what the constitution says and that is what we will follow.”

  1. This makes me believe what Edgar Lungu was talking about recently with regards being in politics. People can’t be jostling for power just to be servants. There are huge benefits. So forget about politics of service in Zambia.

    • The older the wiser

Only a Bon of a Sitch would stop anyone from developing this country especially with someone as experience and offers more than the UPND party put together

On behalf of most pro PF we welcome the ex president to wake up a sleeping giant in MMD.

Even if a pawn becomes a queen, its still just a playing piece. Pawns can never become players…

The PF and current government are not moved

      Thanks

    • RB should continue enjoying his retirement while raising his small kids. This is the best time for him to concentrate on his small twins because by the time they will be teenagers he is likely to be too old to relate with him.He better take this chance to bond of them while he still has energy.

    • They come in different forms from RB, HH, BGM, EM, even political prostitutes like Cosmo

This is like a plot of finding Osama BL, they will try different means, different methods, different weapons
They will never catch up, because the man they are chasing MCS is camaflouge, he is
Too difficult a puzzle to solve

Let him come, come 2016 all these efforts and power and engineering, will just be water under the bridge
For the bible clears states , all they are doing is making President Sata live for ever

Patriots I urge you to stand and defend the bible in Daniel 6:6 which said ‘So these administrators and satraps went as a group to the king and said: “May King Darius live forever!’

Please repeat before me May MCS live forever at the helm!

      Thanks

    • I don’t often comment bit Mushota you made my day with your comment. You don’t believe what you write, do you? Hahah

    • Nevers, be careful, Uzakalila. You Bembas say “Umuntu mubi, awamafye nga nalala ot nga nafwa”. So nga RB talele nankwe mubi.

      Unkale beliweya!!!!!

    • please dont blame wynter Kabimba for the rumours of RB coming, he(kabimba) is in retirement since his dismisal,,,,, because all the rumours about presidential bye-elections,, ati ni kabimba,,,,, constitution rumours ati ni kabimba,,,,,, rumours of Sata sick in israel,,, ati ni kabimbia,,,,
now he is not around,,, please dont blame him

    • @Mushota
Ki ki ki now that’s too hilarious. Please don`t dare leave LT it will become too boring without you. You are our drama queen…you have no dull moment.

    • @Ndobo, I am also missemirised why these PF are so concerned about RB.
And that Nevers Mumba, what is wrong for RB to stand as “Independent” in presidential by-elections?
In fact RB was dragged to MMD by Mwanawasa… he was a UNIP.

    • Just three years ago you did not find any problem with age. In fact you opposed the age limit. What has changed so drastically in less than three years for age to be an issue? Be objective! The lack of objectivity among Zambians is the reason we remain in this situation and make so many political mistakes and choices. Let’s grow up for once

    • Even if Banda is to come back, first of all, come back from where? Deep sleep? He will just be bruised more and we don’t want anymore fossils as president. Mr. Sata is the last one. Finito!!!!!

  2. Thats why the people in Kasenengwa voted overwhelmingly for MMD. They think RB is coming back so they will have kumozi kumawa coming back and taking root. Those chaps are also backwards. They take too long to change. This world is not cast in concrete. Things change and the world has changed and one needs to look out in a very fluid environment. Any how, they are a bit like these chaps from the South. They are also so rigid but their brains are easy to read. They think they are smart but they are not. If God made them smart, we would have suffered like crazy. He just gave them a lot of animals and the likes of mabisi. Coming to other chaps related to them, them they are just followers, I mean, NW and W. They just follow their cousins or brothers. This brings me to the issue of

    • We the easterners are not backward. Power belongs to us. After sata goes, we are back in the drivers seat. We are neither tribalist nor thieves, making us a natural choice. Power belongs to the east yet we are so magnamous to allow our monkey eater cousins to warm the seat.

    • PK ls tribalist, this is how tribal our friends from the north are. You have been taught this by your father. After western and N.western gave you votes you belittle them. Well the south know this, that’s why since 2011 they vote for there own. Better that way, it’s easy then to know where the looters come from.

    • Please don’t forget that the east saved our democracy in 1991. Otherwise we would have immediately negated the struggle for multi party politics soon after introductions. I am sure you are educated enough to appreciate that democracy does NOT mean everybody shifting to a new party at the same time, all the time. You need to respect easterners for their choices as well as others who choose different from you. It cannot only be democracy if they agree with you. That is clearly cheap.

  3. Integration. We must build a real one Zambia. Tribal tendencies are just sickening. You there where you are sitting and typing, are you a tribalist? Especially men. They are so rigid. Women don’t care. Men are just too primitive in some of those areas.

  4. Oh be afraid Nevers, very afraid. Your cadres have seen what a loss it was to put a fake pastor clown like you to head the party. Now they are ready to replace you with an old duck like RB. Same goes for (HH), UPND cadres are ready to revolt and elect someone with a better national appeal instead of the divisive regional tribalist (HH) Hyena Kapoli. RB far outshines the two of these clowns put together. But Sata is the Supreme Majesty above all.

  5. Zambians’ fixation and fascination with aged octogenarians to rule them is just simply amazing. Even though the constitution allows for citizens from age 35 to stand for election as president, the average age for those seeking high office is a staggering sixty years. This shows the youth of Zambia have no confidence in themselves even though they are extremely outspoken and very loud on political issues. The trend worldwide is for the young generation to take the mantle of leadership and not relying on characters like Alexander Chikwanda boasting 1940 qualifications and you believe he will deliver you out of economic bondage? These pensioners have been tested and have been found wanting. Their catastrophic performance results are there for all to see. Don’t we ever learn anything?

  6. Well said Nevers. The MMD will cross the bridge once they reach it. For now it is a rumour because RB has not yet confirmed he was coming back. Nevers also says if it happens, the constitution will guide. Viva RB, viva Nevers, viva MMD, viva Zambia!

  7. There is no question that disgraced RB is irking for a re-match! He is better advised though, to stay out of active politics.

  8. It’s good that Nevers sees the need to MMD and Zambia of RB coming back. He has guided on how it can be done. RB Nafuti Nafuti

  9. Age should not be an issue. Zambia’s political issues at the moment cannot be relegated to a non issue of age. We have bigger issues at hand ladies and gentlemen! Besides, if RB is too old and disgraced or unpopular, let him stand and Zambians will decide. I guess the complaints are because you know he will win hands down. Just go on the streets and compounds. People have realized they were cheated and were far better off in RB’s time than they are now. So the earlier you faced reality the better

  10. Some 24 years after the introduction of democracy, even some educated people on this blog cannot still appreciate basic democratic concepts. What’s wrong with a person who qualifies to be president of Zambia expressing interest in running? RB, like any of us is free to contest and ask the people of Zambia for a vote. Why are we finding problems with that?

  11. Ba Nevers Mumba utulo. Mailo bakabuka nokusanga ati RB nanina pakafulo. Anyway, bring him on. I know some provinces where RB won’t even dare to go and campaign: Barotseland, Luapula, Southern – that is for sure and even himself knows. In fact like in Barotseland I think even his security brief will advise him to just not even think of going there. And that is atleast 100,000 votes gone! MMD mulishani banensu?! Kamuleteni uyowine ALABEE wenu, tukamilange game efyo bateya. Mwachepa sana…!

  12. Ifyakweba ati ALABEE teti eminine mulandu he has been president before and he is in retirement. No, let him come back kaili, elyo tukamupompolole for the last time so much that he will never attempt coming out of retirement ever again in his life. Tatwangala ifwe. Nomba before he comes out of retirement, he must give up all the benefits he is enjoying right now…and we can lobby for that to happen. RB must be very careful and not take Zambians for granted. Don’t push your luck. You killed Zambians with your direct orders, we forgave you. Now keep the f.c.u.k out !

  13. from the comments of Neva s Mumba about the possible come back of RB, one picks up a fear of being dethroned; already he is looking at what can save him/ ANOTHER ONE cling to power even though he does not have leadership qualities? Nevas cannot bring up the MMD, instead he is the downfall of the MMD.

  14. Honestly, it will be futile for the former Republican President RB to return to politics. The MMD has been torn apart beyond repair. The attacks Ba Mumba, Munabi Lungu and Lusambo waged against some senior Officers of the MMD, such as Mr. Malusa, Dora Siliya, Bo Kaingu and Dr. Chituwo had severely contributed to the downfall of MMD in Northwestern Province, Mkushi and elsewhere.

The Managers of RB’s Office of our former President must critically analyse the current state of MMD before encouraging the former President to return to politics.

    • good observation, but don t you think that RB s come back will strengthen the party and bring back the people that made MMD tick?

  15. Nevers you have nothing to worry about. Zambians remember that at a critical moment when MMD needed a leader, RB quickly run away and declared that he had retired from active politics.

You came courageously as a saviour, fought the PF tricks to destroy MMD both from inside and outside. Stay focused. This battle has enver been yours, God has fought for you all the way. RELAX, GOD IS IN CONTROL!!!! Honesty, morality, integrity.

  16. I ain’t worried about RB’s comeback. What worries me more is Sata’s comeback from hibernation to continue with his clueless gradual slide of Zambia.

  17. This Nevers will never be political material. Never mind the constitution we dont have to break it. Have you considered that if we citizens wanted RB back we could simply launch a new party and rally everybody? We could even attract all MMD members into the new party or dissolve MMD ? But never mind RB, he is a gentleman, it is us the citizens and party members you should worry about.

  18. We want RB back for MMD to survive NEVERS MUMBA is not a saviour he should not cheat in fact he is contributing to the bad performance of MMD in by-elections he has no message for the people he is just a failure, he went to Mangango he came back 136 votes he went to Zambezi he came with 150 votes what type of saviour is he who is just losing where ever he goes to campaign? PF Saulosi you shud stop double standard politics you can not bring the age issue here while u are the same person who is supporting SATA for 2016, plz be objective the real issue is RB just served for 3 years of his 10 years as enshrined in a Republic Constitution so plz stop poking your nose in MMD affairs, WE WANT RB WE WANT RB for the MMD to bounce back in 2016 not these dreamers. VIVA RB VIVA MMD

  19. Bloggers, anytime you see the name TRUE BLUE know that it is madam ‘yours truly.’ She has been used to cause Nevers to fail and it is the noise for RB to come back because she is broke and wants to use RB’s sons money the way she did during the 2011 campaigns.

RB was in her pocket, he could never say no to anything she said. Zambians remember even the children of Israel cried to go back to Egypt because they remembered the pots of meat , garlic and onions. But Moses said we have to go forward. Remember how KK wanted to come back???? Never look back.

  20. This man was the most useless president zambia has never had. Even talking like a small child. Boasting as if he was brought up in a village set up.

This is the man RB, who was so careless with the cardres. If it happen that they (MMD) won the elections, I don’t see us having the peace we are enjoying now.

This man could have destroyed the economy because, he used to print extra money using the Chinese companys. What a shame!

To hell Rb and your supporters.

  21. Ba KATONGO NSAMBE plz point of correction RB never run away from MMD Leadership he was tricked by KACHINGWE to resign, bcoz this KACHINGWE was already bought by PF to destabilise the MMD that is how he sayd ok let me leave you and see how you will go, that’s when DORA SILIYA brought this pastor who has failed us because she wanted someone who will talk on her behalf if PF started persecuting her on corruption cases, NEVERS was DORA’S strategy for her personal cover up not the party. Since now the old man RB has seen all these tricks and his party dying we want him to come back and save his party. There is NO amount of talk from UPND and PF will stop MMD to call for RB. HH knows that RB will be a force to recon with in 2016, that is a reason of panicking by UPND

  22. TRUE BLUE, The truth as of now is that Nevers is President of MMD whether Dora is the one who brought him to this position or not. If I may ask you, why did she not support Mutati or Musokotwane?

Now the die is cast, Nevers is president and the destroyer of MMD Mr. Kabimba is gone. So let MMD now truly recover. They have lost a lot of structures and money through the useless by-elections.
