2015 AFCON qualifiers back at Levy Stadium

Chipolopolo’s 2015 Africa Cup Group F qualifying home game against Niger has been moved from Lusaka to Ndola.

Zambia were due to host Niger at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on October 15 but the qualifier has been moved back to Ndola.

Cape Verde will follow with a November 19 date.

This is because of continued construction works at Heroes Stadium on access roads and support structures at the venue that will be used for Zambia’s 50th Independence anniversary on October 24.

Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili has ordered the contractor to work around the clock before October 24 now that they were be no matches at the venue for the foreseeable future.

“We dont want to disturb the flow of the work here. If we allow the Niger game to come here it would mean all the works the contractor would stop work for two days before the game,” Kambwili said.

“We already have a stadium up and running so all the games for October will be held at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.”

Levy Stadium has already hosted Zambia’s opening Group F qualifier against Mozambique on September 6 that ended scoreless.

Meanwhile, Zambia have also played one game at Heroes Stadium where they beat Sudan 3-1 in a friendly game on August 31.

    • @Abraham – What are you saying? You are not being consistent. If Ndola is not a small town, then accommodation should be readily available….Tumano ubunoono..

  2. Clear lack of planning this stadium should never have been handed over by the contractor. ..moreover we don’t need these pointless structures. ..we should be building libraries instead.

  3. We should not accept this. Zimbabwe refused to co-host when we asked them to.
