Kalume: I am not retiring

Share

Nkana captain Sydney Kalume has ruled out the possibility of retiring from playing in the near future.

Kalume, 27, said he will continue playing for a foreseeable future.

The ex-Zesco United and Zanaco defensive midfielder said he was fit to continue playing.

Kalume has lost his place in the Nkana starting line-up this season and he is usually used as a late substitute.

“This is football, some times you start on the bench some times you find yourself in the starting line up but when you are good you are good,” he said.

“I have to continue playing because I am still young. I will be turning 28 next year,” he said.

Kalume revealed that he was eying a professional move abroad.

“I have played so much football in Zambia now I want to play professional football outside. That is my prayer to my God,” he said.

The ex-Lusaka Dynamos player last season inspired Nkana to their 12th league title – the first in 12 years.

  1. Ba KALUME, lost a place & resposibility to ‘DONASHANO MALAMA’. “Infact he is the one who caused us to give SEWE SPORT free POINTS in last CAF CONF. CUP match when he played with D.MALAMA instead of using CLAUD BWALYA in his place”. How would say his time has gone & better way for him is to look for a ‘CLUB’ where he can play.
“Yes iam PROUD of him he added his efforts to KALAMPA 12’s TITLE but FOOTBALL is a CHANCE or TIME when you have it, you use it pa ChILaTa we need fresh BlOoD”.

    ALL THE WAY FAVUOR!!!

  2. The problem with this guy is that he talks too much on and off the pitch instead of improving his skills,he thinks he has done alot for Nkana.Better players have taken over his position the only thing he does these days is drinking water and watching other guys like Malama and Bwalya playing. You thought you where the owner of Nkana always hostile to new players.

  3. Something wrong here. The captain is always on the bench. The man is only 27 years and he is talking about retiring.
