Cape Verde outshine Zambia on FIFA rankings

Share

Zambia have fallen to an all-time low on the FIFA rankings on the same day that their 2015 Africa Cup Group qualifiers opponents Cape Verde made a massive leap.

Zambia have dropped four places on the FIFA rankings for September to fall to number 88.

It is the 2012 champions lowest placing since FIFA introduced the World football rankings in 1993.

Zambia has one point in Group F in third place.

Meanwhile, Zambia Group F opponents Cape Verde moved 33 places up the rankings from 74th to 31st.

This is after amassing up six points off wins over Zambia and Niger in their opening two Group F qualifiers.

Mozambique, who are second in Group F on two points, drop two places to 109 in the World.

Niger who occupy bottom place in Group F have gained two points on the FIFA rankings at 107 in the World.

  1. These FIFA rankings are hard to understand, a win against Sudan, a draw against Mozambique & a loss to C/Verde 4 places below. While some teams who has not recorded any win maintain or has risen up.

    • That’s because you never care to read how they are calculated you like your FA president Galu only look at the last 3 matches a team played. ..go to the Fifa ranking table and read the rules and the formula behind those calculations. This laziness has too end.
      Wake up! !

    • It is wrong to draw conclusions when you seemingly have no knowledge about the formula used to come up with these rankings. Its not a secret. Simply go to the FIFA website and enlighten yourself. The fact is we have been saying our soccer standards are compromised and continue to fall. But we expect to improve on rankings yet we cn hardly win games. Its sad. Its the perfect example of GIGO.

Make posts from an informed perspective please.

  2. This is no surprise at all…the blue sharks have been on the rise since 2012 and have been strategic on the teams the play the friendlies with..one only has click on them on that table on the Fifa website…Zambia is overrated and its not going anywhere as look as we have empty suits running football. ..yes I’m harsh but that’s the language our gullible fans will only understand.
The ranking table is there for a reason hence the reason why FIFA has sanctioned friendly dates.

  3. I am sure that Kalusha Bwalya and his tandem of brain-dead congenitally retarded supporters will celebrate this negative-increase in Zambia’s ranking on the FIFA Board. By the way, where is Cape Verde, is it a new country? Oh, I see – dogs are in charge of football in Zambia.

  4. what is happening to our football is sad,but i expect self proclaimed footballl experts like JayJay & chitapi to offer technical assistance to coach instead of completely being negative to the entire system even againest sections that are not directly involved in team selection. Ati Tokoloshi?

  5. Pantu Tamumfwa! This drop will cost some players not to be accepted in some European leagues.
    The solution is simple
    1.Remove kalu as FAZ president
2.Appoint a complete new Technical team to oversee the recruitment of an expatriate coach preferably from Serbia,Croatia or South America.
3.Attach 3 local coaches to understudy the expatriate coach for a period of 5 years.
4.find sponsors for the nuder 17 league for both boys and girls.
and please retire tired legs like Katongo,Mbesuma and Nyambe Mulenga.
