MINISTER of Finance Alexander Chikwanda has sued Anglican priest Richard Luonde for alleged defamation.
According to a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court, Mr Chikwanda said Father Luonde caused to be published in the Post newspaper edition of August 18, 2014, a story headlined: “Chikwanda is double-dealing with the mines and eating with two hands.”
Mr Chikwanda claimed that other alleged defamatory stories that were published in the Post under headlines: “Fr Luonde challenges Chikwanda to explain his role in Sigma Enterprises” and “Zambians are living dangerously by having a Finance minister whose interest is to protect mining companies so that his supply business remains profitable,” were defamatory.

The Minister is putting Zambian laws to good use. How we with Zambia Police Service could also correctly interpret the Public Order Act so that opposition parties could compete on fairer terms with the party in power.
Chikwanda is cleaning them up!! And has put Tax sanctions at The Post Newspaper. Teach them a lesson Mr. President Chikwanda, whip them!! Hold on to Mmembe, he should be last person you sue as a person.

Squeeze this wanking priest so that he stops making useless and baseless allegations. VAT repayments MUST be paid by the government, what was so wrong in doing the right thing? The priest has evidence. the minister decides to change rules in favour of mines that pay companies he owns. what a chain. the priest, though i dont like his behaviour, has evidence and their is acquitted if only a solid and unbiased judge is found!

Good move by ABC, it is high time people changed their approach to such sensitive issues and debates. I hope fatherless Luonde did his homework well before uttering those malicious words. We have too much rumor mongering and insulting people at will in the country without thinking about the repercussions.
