The opposition MMD has charged that its Mumbwa Member of Parliament Brian Chituwo has been working to frustrate party leader Nevers Mumba’s efforts to reorganize the former ruling party.
MMD Director of Communications Raphael Nakacinda stated that Dr Chituwo along with a few members have never supported Dr Mumba since he assumed the presidency of the party.
Reacting to an article in which Dr Chituwo is quoted as having said that the MMD is dead under the leadership of Dr Mumba, Mr Nakacinda said Dr Chituwo is a saboteur who was hoping the party would die under Dr Mumba’s leadership.
Mr Nakachinda said, “This is typical of Dr Chituwo’s character. Even when he was in government, he gave RB headache because of an exaggerated notion of himself. He is always thinking he is better than others.”
“Firstly, that article quoting Dr Chituwo as MMD Vice President for Administration is a misrepresentation because Dr Chituwo is no longer MMD Vice President. Secondly, it is well documented that Dr Chituwo has never supported Dr Mumba from day one, so it is not surprising that he wants to attack the integrity of the party,” Mr Nakacinda said.
Mr Nakacinda revealed that the MMD has commenced the process of reorganizing and rejuvenating its structures in order to get put in place leaders and officials who are going to perform to the expectations of not only the membership but to the Zambian people.
“Admittedly, the party has not performed according to the expectations of Dr Mumba and the entire party leadership especially with regard to recent by election results. However blaming the party’s current situation on one man is grossly unfair,” he said.
Mr Nakachinda said the fortunes of the party stated going down whilst the party was in government, way before Dr Mumba took over the party leadership.
“The likes of Dr Chituwo are where they are today because of the MMD. He is not even a politician and many Zambians will agree with me that Dr Chituwo does not even have the gifting that is why he has been a cry baby through and through. He got into politics through family relations under Mwanawasa, this is a well-known fact. He is not in touch with the people, infact, it is the likes of Dr Chituwo that made the MMD become unpopular and lose the 2011 elections.”
He said Dr Chituwo and his clique have never supported Dr Mumba from day one even if he became MMD President through democratic means.
“The MMD is a democratic party, its values and ethos all promotes democracy. It is only democrats that would be comfortable to respect the will of the majority because democracy presupposes that the will of the majority prevails that of the minority.”
Dr Mumba won a landslide election at the convention. Dr Chituwo and others were given a chance to work with him but through his words and actions, it is clear that Dr Chituwo has never supported Dr Mumba’s leadership,” he said.
“This is more of a personal issue than anything else,” Mr Nakacinda said.
“Dr Chituwo has always prayed for the day the MMD will collapse but he has been proved wrong because the MMD is still going strong and this is the reason he is still MP today. In 2011, Dr Chituwo was only saved by Rupiah Banda for his adoption, the local structures never wanted him readopted. It is this kind of interference from top leadership in imposing candidates on the grassroot that made the party unpopular. As I speak now, we have a problem in Mumbwa constituency which needs to be resolved quickly, people don’t want to Dr Mumbwa. ”
Mr Nakacinda observed that Dr Chituwo cannot defend his Mumbwa seat if he decides to recontest even under the PF ticket.
“It would be disastrous political judgment if he decides to stand again in Mumbwa, even on the PF ticket, he will lose, not even the advantage of incumbency can help him” Mr Nakacinda stated.

Dr.Chituwo has never campaigned in any by-election and yet he has the guts to blame Dr.Mumba who is trying very hard to salvage a Party that was destroyed by RB and his Dora Siliya. RB never visited Secretariat and neglected original MMD party cadres as Wiliam Banda ensured that he brought in UNIPISTS.Leave Dr.Mumba to reorganize the Party.
Yes, Chituwo is one of the people responsible for the problems in MMD. He has been working against MMD even when he was in the MMD executive. Dr Nevers Mumba was given a mandate by the people, what makes Chituwo think he is the only one who is right and all the people that voted for Dr. Mumba are wrong?

Nakachinda you are one of the people causing problems in MMD you are not even a member of the Party you are there because your friend is the President. You are the one who sends LUSAMBO to continue attacking RB. MMD wants RB back because your friend has failed to mobilize the party financially and membership if I ask you since NEVERS was elected Party President how many people has joined the Party? none instead we always lose members of the Party to other parties. NAKACHINDA you have no political strategic to win an election plz don’t make noise when you are empty politically. Us the owners of the Party want RB back because we want the Party back into govt. LUSAMBO eats with both hands PF and NEVERS and this is a person you are using.
Leave Nakachinda out of your rantings, this man and Nevers Mumba have sacrificed a lot for this party. True blues you are just armchair critics never contributing to the well being of the party like your Chituwo. On RB coming back, his age is his biggest enemy and some of you just want to milk him out of his retirement money or whatever may have remained from his deals with his children. Try to bring him back he will bruised!!! The same people who were advising in 2011 and produced that grand lose are teaming again to produce another embarrassing episode for RB. Leave the Man alone, I don’t think with his UNIP experience he would be foolish to repeat the mistake.

If Dr. Chituwo was half politically intelligent, he could have left the party where he failed to be President. When Mwanawasa died he wanted to stand and chickened out at the 11th hour. He was also wired by Mumba. If you have half political brains – leave MMD form or join another party. UPND will be good for you.
Wawa you are right Dr chituwo is beter leaving MMD.Chituwo however is not stupid politician he knows what he is saying.If you check the strong holds of MMD now is western,Northwestern Central Eastern and some parts of Lusaka .MMD is dead in northern, Muchinga,Luapula and Coperbelt .The simple logic is that Nevers Mumba being Bemba is not expected to pull more votes in Areas I have indicated above unless PF loses its grip on bemba provinces and switch to MMD ,I don’t see nevers getting votes in western and such places were his MPS are.The analysis is based a fact that in Zambia vote in tribes but this does not represent my believe but it a fact.Chituwo even if can make a good candidate like Magande they lost because they are TOnga finite.

@Mfumu-PF just as UPND,they both want to carnibalize MMD,though they keep saying that MMD is corrupt,what hypocricy.So PF wants corrupt Mutati whom they have shelved his corruption charges having caged him by threatening him of arrest.His Chamb Transport Co. is under threat.
Leave Nakachinda alone. He is the only non-tribal person I know. Imagine he looks above tribe and submits himself faithfully under a Bemba president, Dr. Mumba. Nakachinda has leadership qualities and is a steady man. I have alot of respect for people who are faithful and loyal.
That is why I also have a lot of respect for Muhabi. He is faithful and loyal to one leader at a time. The likes of Chituwo, Kaingu, Kachingwe, Dora are people incapable of loyalty, their only loyalty is to money. That is why when their Godfather, Kabimba is now fired, they are like headless chickens.
Nakachinda, thank you for coming out strongly. You are the right material as Never’s special assistant. Nevers can trust you. Ignore TRUE BLUE who is saying you do not belong to MMD. Nobody owns…
