The Patriotic Front (PF) in Chitambo has appealed to Serenje District Commissioner Charles Mwelwa to evict civil servants that were deployed to work in the new district as they were delaying development progress.

In a press statement released to ZANIS today, Chitambo District PF Chairperson Christopher Kabango said it was unacceptable that to date, construction works at the new Chitambo boma site had not started .
Mr Kabango complained that government workers were still operating from Serenje boma instead of them living and working within Chitambo district where they will share the same development aspirations with the locals.

Mr Kabango said he had since written to the Serenje District Commissioner to instruct all the Chitambo workersto vacate government offices in Serenje and go to Chitambo .
The District PF chairperson also said he had written to the Chitambo District commissioner David Kaseba to instruct Chitambo government workers living and working in Serenje to relocate to Chitambo immediately.

He said the delay to start the construction works for Chitambo district was painting a bad image on the PF government that it is not working.

But Serenje District Commissioner Charles Mwelwa said it would be up to the Chitambo government employees to leave Serenje and not him to evict them.

Mr Mwelwa said it would be possible to evict the Chitambo government departments operating from his district if Serenje did not have adequate office space.

And Former Serenje District Council Chairperson has called on government to quickly settle the impasse that has caused government departments under Chitambo district not move to the new area.

Mr Cletus Malupenga said people were finding difficulties in accessing services from government departments because most of them under Chitambo district were operating from Serenje.

Mr Malupenga who is also former MMD Mpelembe Ward Councilor in Chitambo Constituency said Chitambo government officers should emulate their colleagues in Luano who have been operating in tents as they await the construction of new offices.

  1. ‘officers should emulate their colleagues in Luano who have been operating in tents as they await the construction of new offices’

Tents just before rainy season? It’s good Serenje is getting funding for development. Used to visit grand parents with dad. nice place, Kundalila Falls and the best dewy moon and stars on a hot october night! Great potential for tourism. Great caterpillar dish recipe from here!

    • Mr Kabango should get a life or go to hell with his ultimatum. Its not the fault of these civil servants but the PF government which just implements programmes without proper planning and proper costing.

Sata and his PF think that running a government is like playing chidunu.

  2. Civil servants are not meant to work from tents or huts like goats. These overzealous PF cadres should be aware of their limits. They bring their party to disrepute and de-campaign their party as a failed project run by anybody who is no body, a party without planning.

    • For once I agree with the frustration expressed by the PF leadership in Serenje. Our civil service mindset and attitude are just counterproductive. Even in Lusaka where they have air-conditioned offices, these dudes require military-type administration to get anything out of them.

What is wrong with operating from a tent when the situation demands so? Do you think soldiers, policemen and game guards are not made of flesh and soul? These are the chaps condemning the Minister of Labour for chastising them when they kept him waiting for 40 minutes?? You guys are a sad tragedy. Anyway, it is the govt to blame for failing to bring about any meanigful reforms in the civil service.

  3. There is such a thing as rejecting an appointment if it does not sit well with you. Why accept the appointment as DEBS, DACO, DMO, OIC, for Chitambo, Chembe, Luano and you fail to operate at your new station? Yes, challenges ate there but starting up new projects need persons with backbones. Not these moluscs gunning for money!! Its a pity baSata is bedridden, otherwise, we could have had these louts working.

  4. Go to piano at any given time and see if you find government departments in the much talked about tents! It was a show casing gimmick.

  5. HOW do you evict civil servants for NOT PAYING RENT in Governement houses? DO YOU WANT TO BE SICHILONGOD like the way the catholic nun was sichilongod at Roma girls. Remember politicians are KACHINGWED while landlords are sichilongod
