The Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) Zambia has condemned the alleged harassment of University of Zambia (UNZA) student journalists by Youth and Sport Minister Chishimba Kambwili.

MISA Zambia has meanwhile called on Kambwili to tame what they said were undemocratic outbursts and conduct describing the incident as a threat to democracy.

MISA Zambia Chairperson Hellen Mwale has disclosed to ZANIS in a statement in Lusaka today that the Minister of Youth and Sport stormed UNZA Radio and threatened student journalists at the institution.

“We are concerned that he stormed UNZA Radio and threatened student journalists at the institution. This behavior is not only unfavorable for democratic growth but is dangerous to academic freedom and freedom of expression in Zambia,” Ms. Mwale stated.

Ms. Mwale noted that it was frightening for the Minister to go to the University to verbally threaten students saying the conduct was likely to have long term psychological effects on the youths.

MISA has since urged Kambwili to retract his threats and control his outbursts in order for the students to learn in a conducive environment and also for them to appreciate and grow to respect the right to freedom of expression.

Youth and Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili is reported in the media as having threatened to dismiss reporters at UNZA Radio and arrest others for locking up the Common Wealth building.
The Common Wealth building has been occupied by the National Youth Council which falls under the Ministry of Youth and Sport.

  1. Kusa yenda ku Sikulu ni problem. I hate this Pig called Katemo Kabwili. He is too dull to be a Minister. Wht did we really do in Zambia to deserve such imbiciles in Govt ?
Its shocking to ve someone who behaves like Katemo Kambwili…!!

    • Where were the students when their territory was violated? Chaps if you were afraid of his fat body, why didn’t you pick up stones like David in the bible did? Stupid students…you just missed a golden opportunity to sort out the PF imbecile.

    • Can he be fired please, he has embarrassed us enough. Go and sit in class and redo your degree ,you will learn some manners.

    • Is Kambwili a human or a Rhino? With his rampaging behavior and facial features, I fail to make the distinction, please advise mwebekala chalo.

    • pitbull Kambwili!!!!,, these the side effects of failling on your own to go to UNZA when you were young,,, then you end up ku copperstone universty,,, ,,, then you hate UNZA and everyone associated to it,,,
please pitbull kambwili take anger and hate ku gym,,,, you will lose weight faster

    • I agree that UNZA is not the same anymore. Those days even the president wouldn’t have dared stepping into that territory. He’s have been skinned alive.

    • @anderson chisala-am surprised you even ask ati what did we do to have such imbeciles in govt? well, you voted for Sata and sata made kambwili minister, thats what you did. so dont complain. just take it in, kaili this was your choice despite people warning you about Sata!!!

    • I said ChiKambwili must go. Miles Sampa can do a better job than this f00l with a fake degree.

MILES SAMPA should be appointed youth and sorts minister. He seems a better devil than this fat pig.

Kambwili beware, its such behaviour which got Kabimba out. Soon it will you. You will be lucky to reach December without being fired.

I will not relent to demand that this f00l should be got rid of ASAP.

    • These are the last kicks of a dead pig walking! PF must rid itself of these useless pigs tarnishing Zambia’s democracy.

Kambwili is the one sponsoring all that violence within PF. He completely wants to get rid of Kabimba’s support base.

CHIKAMBWILI MUST GO. CHIKAMBWILI MUST GO. CHIKAMBWILI MUST GO.

    • @Mwana Chinondo

I couldn’t agree more. You have said exactly what I thought.

In our days at UNZA, not even Kaunda or Sata would dare come to UNZA and insult students.

This Kambwili guy’s days as a minister will be over soon.

I want him replaced with Miles Sampa, a better devil.

    • People leave kabwili alone he is a kaponya. For him what he did is normal as a kaponya, debating issues is not a norm for him. Copperstone University please do better next time, and give your degrees to people who can act as good ambassadors for your institution.

Kabwili, please take note that it is normal for one to have the first degree below age of 22 years. We know for you it had to wait till you become a minister and way above the age of 40years. Allow the young people to leave their dreams.

    • Even a name suggests idiocy, were the hell did this name come from? If you think Education is expensive, then try Ignorance!

    • Who else can discipline the Minister apart from the appointing authority, the Head of State, whom PF is hiding from the public who voted for him.

Why are students complaining when a member of their own government of choice decides to “visit” them? UNZA, you love the PF and so you must love its Ministers.

  2. Kambwili is a loud mouthed bully; he uses his position to threaten and intimidate people. WHAT a minister of youth LOL

  3. I’m very disappointed with the students for letting this ***** to even step foot on UNZA soil? Please this should be the last time that he comes there next time attack the ugly ***** stone his car. Who the hell dies he think he us?

  4. KAPONYA, NG’WANG’WAZI, MUSHANGA SELLER!!
That is Big K’s background. You can take a Villager out of the
Village, but U will never Scrub out his Villager mentality!!

  5. Even as a pro PF blogger I will always be a former monk and a council of hall rep that fought Chiluba and prevented his third term bid (I chose never to be a member of a corrupt UNZASU as was the likes of chi Cornelius).. I for one can never support someone who indimidates my fellow monks so ba Kambwili understand UNZA students are amongst the PFs most committed support base, please don’t disturb that intellectual support that we need so much.

  6. That’s the PF illiterate you keep on supporting baba! Ati Kambwili for PF Presido and then Ati HH does not qualify or will never rule Zambia!

  7. The caliber of Zambian leaders continues to baffle me. It was not long ago when you spoke about the welfare of the UNZA students, free education, freedom of speech. It was not long ago when you condemned the loud mouthed Tetamashimba and Mulongoti. Today, you are doing the exact same thing. Obviously, your memory has been deleted. Kambwili I ask that you look through your trash folder or recycle bin life file and restore the little dignity you may posses and shut up for once…Let us listen to silence because it speaks the loudest at times.

  8. In the days of UNZASU, this pig would never have dared to get to campus. Now these universities of these days where you take babies as freshers are a disaster. Sure even a pig who never saw the inside of a lecture threatre and with balls as small as a baby can do this?
Surely the UNZASU executive should resign and allow focused people lead the student body. This is a problem of having hungry students bought by late Kabimba in top positions. Country has rotten leadership and now FUTURE LEADERS are equally moving coffins; my foot!

  9. @@It’s a Worry,

Iwe ngwele, you are simply ignorant of how government operates. You think all government projects have all the cash outlay needed from the start? Haven’t you heard of a cash budget? It does not mean that when government embarks on a project, they have ALL the money needed up to completion. It is mostly on “pay as we go basis”.

The principle is that the railway line needs to be rehabilitated! If you agree that it needs to be improved then they better start with what could be raised then through the Euro-bond. Even as Chirwa embarked on his dream systems, he made it clear that he was going to need extra money!

Your moribund mind and paranoid instincts always sees these things in terms of the party in Power! The rest of your rants is fishing in a dry pond.

  10. You chaps who says that UNZA students are untouchable. In Kaunda area we were hammed by Para Military Police some of us had to beg for forgiveness.Do not support evil behaviour. The Minister is right to stop evil plans by the enemies of the State. Can we tell the nation what we have done for Zambia since we left UNZA .Shame on us .Hon.Minister is not dull .He has made a grade in life, while we are roaming the streets of Lusaka.Stop insulting our leaders you chaps you are failures can’t even design a match box , Graduates…, atase.

  11. I think we now all understand Wynter Kabimba and his strong handling of these party members.

You can’t say Kambwili is a normal chap. This is an ignorant, out of control, deranged……um um person for want of a better name to call him.

PF you are losing it because of indisciplined Members. We see what is going on. This week so far, 2 reported incidents of unruly behaviour. Men punching a woman during a PF meet. This inspite of a major campaign against violence to women! Oh my!

    • Once again ba Patriot I totally agree with you, it would do PF the party that I do love and support good to have an honest self reflection and do some serious house cleaning, problem in my opinion is poverty a lot of these troublesome elements are simply opportunists and don’t care about development and improving people’s lives.

  12. We cikulu pa baice. Muleibwela fimo. This is conduct unbecoming of a minister. Please don’t embarrass us to everyone observing Zambian leadership. Is it too late for that last sentence bloggers?

  13. You look at the guy and listen to him and you just know he’s not one of us..certainly not yet homo sapiens…more like a badly-raised neanderthal. Horrifying to imagine he has presidential aspirations….

    • @Nsimba…..and UNZA…

And you will vote for Hon. Kambwili if he stood for President and reject HH, Nevers ?

How did old Lyambai beat all those vibrant young educated aspirants for Mangango? That is how Zambians view leadership. To us, education and youth is rubbish. We prefer uneducated, old fashioned “experienced elderly people. Even spending money on university education is a waste. After all, out of the 50 years from independence in 1964 only for 10 years -2001 – 20011 did we have Presidents with genuine degrees – late Levy and RB.

Now the MMD have decided to call back the old man RB to do a coup de tat on the relatively young and vibrant Nevers. Even their highly intelligent and educated SG, Lungu does not think he is acapable. He is waiting till he is 80.

  14. Does anybody think that Kambwili bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain Idi Amin? Would that help explain his irrational statements and conduct, that he sees himself as a Zambian version of the former Ugandan dictator?

  15. *Open Letter to Coroner OA Komolafe **Coroner’s Inquest into the Synagogue Building Collapse

    Dear Coroner,

I write this ‘open letter’ for your perusal having good hope in your impartial contemplation; emboldened because your good office afforded opportunity to members of the public with evidence material that will assist the court in its findings to indicate their interest.

Since the incident occurred at the SCOAN premises, online and print media have been awash with volumes of editorials on the catastrophe. The sordid fact about these reports is that most have turned out to be greatly misleading. They seem to be exploiting the tragedy for further barrage of criticism meant to destroy the SCOAN – criticisms that have trailed Joshua since the eighties.

    It is a disastrous event…

  16. What is disappointing is UNZA students allowing their territory to be violated regardless of whether someone is a minister or not. In our days that was holy ground. Even KK ran away and started handing degrees at Mulungushi. Jacob Mwanza, and Principal Mwauluka knew that our Nobert Mumbas, Gwata Phiri, Azwell Banda would not entertain such nonsense. I agree with the sentiments above that in our time he would have been skinned alive and burnt vehicles of his entire entourage. UNZA used to be sacred ground mwebantu where the student body was united and spoke one language now they allow themselves to be trampled upon like that and fold their arms akimbo? I ‘m shaking with anger about this that academic freedom should be trampled upon by someone who has never stepped foot at UNZA…

  17. (Continued)

UNZA grounds have been violated and they need proper sanitization for allowing an illiterate to step on them. UNZA students wake up from your slumber bane. FTJ was stopped right in his tracks regarding the stupid third term bid. KK did not want multiparty politics but I loved the way UNZA students agitated for this change to happen. UNZA was the agent of change but now we have sleepy ‘students’. Nothing is as dangerous for society as when the intelligentsia starts not to care about society around them. One day kaponyas will come and take over the entire campus without resistance. Do not say you have not been warned!

    • We forced Kaunda to re-introduce multi-partyism, he jailed us, we came out and continued our push (Putsch?) and hey presto, multi-partyism was re-introduced! Our kids are different.
Iwe Kambwili, stop bullying our kids!

  18. Kambwili is now another Kabimba. Power has gone into his heard. Where were the ruin police? Ruin police of unza should have arrested him.

  19. I THINK KAMBWILI IS JUST TOO DULL . HE CAN NOT BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF PF. HIS AMBITIONS ARE USELESS. BUULLLL DOG WITHOUT TEETH. UKAPOLEKA KUKWINA. HE SNORES LIKE RUNNING OLD SCANIA TRUCK.

  20. Iwe Kambwili tekanya,
    UNZA
and indeed any other Institution of Higher learning like CBU and Mulungushi Universities should enjoy what is called Academic Freedom. Because those are young minds that are being molded to think independently as intellectuals, you have to let them have their minds wander and explore all possibilities that their minds can allow them.

Now ba minister, if you start capping these freedoms which are even guaranteed in our constitution, you are limiting the extent to which these minds should develop intellectually. Leave those students to enjoy their rights.

To UNZA and the public, the militancy of the institution has been diluted by Gender considerations. Too many girls in the community such that student radicals are few now. No Monks, Bungwes, Ayatollas,…

    • No Monks, Bungwes, Ayatollas, Lumpens and Ruin Police (RUPO). Where are the political scientists, lawyers, historians, psycologists and all to let UNZA fall from being an alert institution to give an indicator of what independent minds should be?

Have you all been reduced to “One Mojo, One moma” and all you do is lying on your backs at Goma lakes as Kambwili comes round to violate your reputation?

Ba Kabimba muletumweneshamo as PF! Whatever, those young ones are broadcasting, the civilised way to counter them is to feature on their programme and explain away the falsehood they may be projecting. Let’s give the correct perspective of things if there is misrepresentation.

Otherwise we are going to alienate these voters from the party (whisper into Kambwili’s ear).

    • Leave the girl-child out of your militancy argument.
Problem my brother is that you lived all your life on Campus ku ruin! Some of us were very militant even as mojos(tongue-in-cheek)! Nali pa Zambezi…
Otherwise the rest of your arguments are monk-true…

  21. Through his overzealous reactions, Hon. Chisbimba Kambwili is committing political suicide by attacking young journalists who genuinely express the aspirations of the Zambian youths irrespective of their political inclinations.

Should God decide to apply His Wisdom so as to serve the most vulnerable Zambians, then Kambwili will end up as a political ORPHAN no Zambian Institution will ever dare to nurture.

    • But why locking that building in the first Place, we all Know that most of you stupid boys got to that institution through leakages no wonder the biased reporting and poor analysis of the state of affairs, and don’t dare insult me cos it will all get back to you dull Chaps!!!!!!!

  22. Why doesnt Misa condemn reckless journalism as
well? the post of late has been pissing on
journalism ethics and standards but Misa is mute.
Watchdog writes malicious stories, Misa is quiet.
But lyonse they just condemn others. IBA
chairperson was falsely labelled an incompetent
but MISA was zii. MISA must learn to be

    • Dear Dorian Gray, are you justifying what Kabwili did? If yes, then it explains why these ministers behalf the way they do, knowing they still have a support base not matter how irrational they behave.

  24. He’s a sports minister nt minister of education y z he guilty he has failed ku sports manje abwela ku education busy gving their children ma busarise while othrz r struggling

  25. well done ba minister .just close this stupid radio station.most callers on this station are sponsored by useless opposition leaders.

  26. @dorian I can’t agree with u mo.while the minister overstepped his boundaries and I would urge him to exercise restraint, Misa’s credibility has been seriously brought into question over their conduct especially since PF came into power. They are quick to condem govt or any of its officials over perceived violation of the freedom of expression but are conspicuously quite when members violet the rights of govt officials and the general citizenry thru their gutter or irresponsible reporting. Ms mwale please put Misa’s act together be4 u get labelled as nothing mo thn a partisan mouth piece

  27. We only hear one side of the story — poor journalism. I would have commented better if I heard both sides. What actually prompted him, Kambwili, to storm the radio station and issue threats? I wish reporters must balance their stories so that their readers can make informed judgement. Biased reporting can destroy our country, and that could be one reason why some people complain of reporting and media.

However, if defamatory reports were said against him, or his party, he would have waited for the right forum: not through intimidation…in the end two wrongs do not make a right.

  28. bravo MISA ZAMBIA,

Thank you for standing up for the rights of journalists in Zambia. The cartel has been hatching a ploy to turn Zambia into bleeding ground of the wounded, and corpses littered like flies dying night and day. The mighty God has listened to our cries.

All the money from the cartel will be CHEWED and people will vote for EDGAR!

All the money from the cartel will be CHEWED and people will vote for EDGAR!

EDGAR LUNGU satellite is glad to inform you that in two days, you will see an ocean of people rallying around the throne of God thanking him for giving us a leader. EDGAR LUNGU FOR PRESIDENT!
All the money from the cartel will be CHEWED and people will vote for EDGAR!

DON’T KUBEBA! SATA TOLD US! Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  29. Didn’t these UNZA students overwhelmingly vote for Pf as the rest of the nation. Did any of you guys know that thugs use thighish behavior when i in power?
