The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) has urged Members of Parliament to reject the K29.26 million allocated to the constitution making process in the 2015 national budget.

ZCSD Executive Secretary Lewis Mwape said it is disappointing that such a small amount of money can be allocated to such an important undertaking.

[pullquote]Government should explain how the K44 million allocated to the constitution making process in 2014 national budget was used.[/pullquote]

Mr. Mwape stressed that this is a mockery to the people of Zambia who are demanding for the release of the final draft constitution.

He said that the allocation of clearly demonstrates how less committed the Patriotic Front government is to giving the people of Zambia a new constitution.

Mr. Mwape said government should be serious and show commitment to the constitution making process through actions.

And Mr. Mwape has challenged Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda to tell the Zambian people how the K44 million allocated to the constitution making process in 2014 national budget was used.

  1. The Zambia Council for Social Development (ZCSD) are jokes.

That sort of money K29m is a lot of money, although not much for me as house is worth more,

Rejecting this, should get the wrath of the president and be fired (to be put it mildly)

We think they should accept it

    Thanks

    • Ati “Rejecting this, should get the wrath of the president”…
Which president are you talking about? Zambia does not have a president; The country is running on autopilot. Thats why there is confusion, rampant corruption and stealing in government right now. The head is rotten.
“If you build an army of 100 lions and their leader is like a dog, in any fight, the lions will die like a dog. But if you build an army of 100 dogs and their leader is like a lion, all the dogs will fight like a lion”.

  2. And Mr. Mwape has challenged Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda to tell the Zambian people how the K44 million allocated to the constitution making process in 2014 national budget (GO TO THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND ASK )

  3. Ba Mushota ikalenifye naimwe …. can ba Mwape tell us then how much is required?? Lets work with figures than just talking … it should have taken some considerable calculations for the GRZ to arrive at that figure and if there is a meaningful counter proposal, let those proposing to equally tabulate what should be spent.

  4. @ Gbouy

Use your brain if is still functioning.
What is the DIRECT cost of General Election? K29 Million?

  5. Very am not the president, otherwise useless politician and NGO’s heads should be facing firing Squad…any there are so lucky. Lusaka times should ran an online opinion poll, for you guys to prove that it’s not our priority. PF government knows that the constitution is not a political issue no wonder we have left for small minds like HH with his UPND with his friendly NGO’s. We shall only be moved if ZEC comes with a strongly pastoral letter over the constitution as we can not afford without Catholics.
