UPND president Hakainde Hichilema confers with Alliance for Better Zambia leader Father Frank Bwalya

Opposition Alliance coordinator Frank Bwalya says it has not been considered whether former president Rupiah Banda will lead the Alliance or not despite him being its member.

Mr. Banda, who is the immediate past republican president, has hinted at making a political comeback amidst suggestions that he does this by becoming the leader of the Opposition Alliance formed by the oppositions Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD), Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ), People’s Party (PP), Zambians for Empowerment and Development (ZED) and the All People’s Congress (APC).

In an interview with Qfm News Father Bwalya, who is also ABZ leader, notes that Mr. Banda is a member of the Opposition Alliance by virtue of being a member of the MMD.

He states that the MMD is therefore in a better position to decide whether or not to field Mr. Banda as its candidate to contest the position of lead of the Alliance and the 2016 presidential candidate when the elections for the position are due.

Father Bwalya, who could not state exactly when the Alliance will hold this election, has disclosed that the Alliance is very close to electing its leader.

He says the agreement of the Alliance is that each political party member is entitled to field any of its members to contest the position of leader of the Alliance but that the Alliance can still elect an individual who does not belong to any particular member political party.

The Opposition Alliance coordinator notes that this individual will however have to be of standing and with the quality that will guarantee victory for the Alliance in the 2016 general elections.

  1. STOP USING THE PHOTO OF PRESIDENT HH IN SUCCH DISCUSSIONS.

PRESIDENT HH IS NOT PARTY TO THAT GROUPING , WHY ARE YOU USING HIS PICTURE TO POTRAY LIKE HH IS PARTY TO THAT GROUPING. STOP USING THAT PHOTO FOR BUILDING YOUR GROUP’S IMAGE.

    • Imwe ba Sinkamba’wisdom’,is it Fr Bwalya who decides which picture to use when Lusaka Times gives out a news item?Pliz you UPND species be reasonable in your obsession of the Freemason hh.

  2. yes @1 STOP using that PHOTO why include HH who is a failure for more than 10years and whose party doesnt grow? He cannot say anything sensible even when discussing with others leaders they cant UNDERSTAND him as he always likes using TONGA language. To make matters worse he doesnt UNDERSTAND bemba our nationla language, so how dare you show him in the picture because the man has to pass through an interpreter to communicate with felllow zambians..ATASE

  3. RB is not MMD, let him for his own political party and Father Bwalya can dissolve his small party to Join RB’s KUMAWA party. Leave Nevers and Muhabi to fail on thier own.
Dr Canisius Banda will be their treasurer and Mulongoti chairm for elections for the KUMAWA party.

  4. Surely BA-LTs Its betrayal of the highest order to put HH’s photo on that flea circus!I’m now thinking otherwise about your online medium. Please kindly change it immediately. I personally like your coverage but don’t start showing your vested interests so soon.2016 is still quiet far & as such please dont start crowding us out too soon. And you ANYOKO (@ anyoko) not all days are sundays! You didn’t create yourself & learn to respect all the people regardless of their tribe & God will bless you & your pedegree!Don’t invite bad omen to your family.God created human beings in his own image.Keep that short lived excitement to yourself with your perceived excellent tribe/language!

    • @Civilized Sam-The image of God is usually misused or misinterpreted.Read:Gen.1:26.To be in the Image of God,one has to Have His Spirit-Spirit of God.In our days, one gets the Spirit of God by being Born Again. So some pipo are just forms having no Spirit of God and consequently not being in the Image of God.We’ve so many walking people/forms but dead. We’re all creation of God quite right, but definately NOT all are sons or children of God-(Romans8:14).Children of God are led or guided by the Spirit of God and not by hatred, sight or political analysts .

  5. Its unfortunate that these people think of HH all the time. Let HH work with other leaders and this will give him chance to show his leadership skills. These people have been campaigning for HH for more than 10yrs but their results are going down in each election. Stop dreaming that one party can win an election in 2016. Only PF because they can rig results. So opposition must work together for the betterment of Zambians.

  6. The so-called Alliance is a doomed project and it cannot work in Zambia due to the very nature of our so-called “leaders”, greed. Each of these imbiciles thinks they can lead the Alliance better than the other. As soon as 2016 comes, each of them will go their own pathetic way to face yet another failure at the polls. Ask the Hopless Hoodlum (HH) how he thought he could lead the PF-UPND pact. The bustard thought his money and school background made him better than Sata, alas the Zambians saw him for the spiteful morron that he is and rejected him to eternal dumbnation. He’s now your average, everyday noise-making empty tin on the political stage, what a dundar head! The quack can’t even realize that he is sponsoring online news gossip which is against a president the people love!

    • @Kudos-Any Alliance where HH is involved will fail.HH or UPND have a history of failed alliances.UDA Alliance with UPND,UNIP and FDD and later UPND and PF Alliance.HH always overates himself, hence the failure. For me let other Parties join the Alliance other than UPND.Such Alliance may only lose in Southern Province, but win in the other Provinces.Chances are that the Alliance may win aggregate national votes.

    • @Kudos-Any Alliance where HH/UPND are included indeed shall fail.HH/UPND have a history of failed alliances.UDA Alliance with UPND,UNIP and FDD and UPND/PF Alliance.HH always overates himself.

    • @Permalink-Any alliance where HH/UPND joins is bound tofail. The history of alliances where HH/UPND has always faid. The UDA Alliance-UPND,UNIP and FDD.And the UPND/PF Alliance.HH overated himself.Always wants to be No.1.

  7. With respect, RB should be advised to stay retired. If he feels strongly about politics, he should simply campaign hard for a younger candidate. Why not support Nevers? Go around the country with him and market him, like Nawakwi, Nevers and others did for you when you stood?

  8. @#Kudos! Having followed the zambian politics for about 22years now.Im anathema to your perception on the Pf-UPND failled pact.Your outrageous compulsions leave much to be desired more especially to a matured & level headed analyst for a number of political dynamic factors contributed to that effect, needless to say SATA has now exposed all his strength & weaknesses. As it is right now the PF has no central power which tantamounts to anarchy which leads to security dilemma!Mind you its only gullible illiterates that appreciates the lies of SATA & don’t think that the majority Zambians are happy with what PF is doing to their social-economic development.HOPE SATA will participate in the 2016 general elections-Im predicting RB’s cry to go with your countrywide loved SATA!We…

  9. The statement by Fr Bwalya is better than what was attributed to the Chairman Gen. Masheke that Rupiah is free to apply to join the Alliance. If Rupiah is still a member of MMD,why apply as an individual?Pliz General don’t bring confusion to the Alliance.

    • I doubt if Fr Bwalya and Mulongoti can really intertain this Rupiah comeback nosense.Looking how the 2 behaved towards Rupiah during the 2011 General Elections

  10. Selfishness at its best for proponents of our Statesman RB merely to use him to their ego You mean without RB, there cant be any other, really? Quit Politics if you cant make impact. UUUUUUHHHH can smell a rat. RB be careful with sheepskins. We love you and you have respect world wide out of your humility to unreservedly handing over power to PF without noise. Don’t lose that. RB God loves you and HE cares for you, regardless your situation and what you are going through. I f I HAD A WAY I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO SEE YOU FREE INDEED as one of our Nation’s father, just like our President SATA is our father too.
