Chingalika Kitwe United hosts legends Independence tournament

Kitwe City Council is on Wednesday set to host a four-team legends football tournament that will feature former players of Nkana, Kitwe United, Mufulira Wanderers and Mufulira Blackpool.

Council spokesperson Dorothy Sampa said the Kitwe local authority wants to make this competition an annuel event.

According to Sampa, this tournament will attract legends from Nkana, Blackpool, Wanderers and Kitwe who featured between 1964 and 1996.

The first edition will take place at Garden Park Stadium a day before Zambia marks the Golden Jubilee.

Zambia’s 1974 Africa Cup star Simon Kaodi Kaushi is expected to lead the Blackpool legends.

Nkana is set to parade Beston Chambeshi, Jericho Shinde, Stone Chibwe and Mordon Malitoli among others.

Mighty will rely on Abraham Nkole, Willy Mukwasa, Alick Tembo, Fredrick Kashimoto and Michael Kapembwa.

The Buchi Boys are plotting to unleash Jackson Kafusha, ex-keeper Stanley Mwenge and Moses Loloji Sr

  1. More than just honouring the players, let them re-unite once again and remember the good old days they had during their time. Even as they stay in our memories, lets pay back by inabling them to have fun, and enjoy the 50 years jubilee independence celebration. Congrats gentle men, we honour you.

  2. pLEASE spare these FORMER heroes from INJURIES , many of them can’t even run for 10 minutes due many diseases such as AIDS , EBOLA etc so why expose them at JUBILEE

  3. Thanks for all who come to celebrate and honoured the legends of yesteryears. The sense of their reunion was amazing and breathtaking. Seeing the likes of kashimoto, malitoli,Abraham nkole, zeedy seliti, bestone chambeshi, gift kampampa, emm munaile, kaodi kaushi just to mention but a few remaindered me of the rich football history.
    Thanks for displaying yourself and hope you enjoyed, we shall be calling you again Legends. May the Good Lord give you long life.
