More stakeholders have joined in calling on government to lift the two year wage freeze and recruitment freeze which was imposed on the public service workers this year.

Zambian Voice executive director Chilufya Tayali has joined the Zambia Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) and some opposition political parties in urging government to lift the wage freeze.

Mr. Tayali said it was important that government gives workers some relief.

He was speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today.

Mr. Tayali has however urged government to channel the resources that have been saved from the wage freeze to key sectors of the economy.

On celebrating jubilee, Mr. Tayali urged all stakeholders not to shun the commemoration of Zambia’s 50 years of political independence.

Zambia got her independence on 24th October, 1964.

“Let us all celebrate our golden jubilee. We have come this far and we should reflect on it. Other issues of hunger, unemployment and HIV/AIDS can be addressed later,” he said.

I would have loved to hear from that apart from crying to lift the wage freeze, we should call for the PF to resign or else we begin the revolution ! Umweeeeso ba chimbwi !

  2. Why not leaving the issue of wage freez to civil servants? who doesnt know that our country has program of massive construction?
