US Secretary of State John Kerry has sent a message of congratulations to the President of Zambia H.E. Michael Chilufya Sata and the people of Zambia on the country’s 50th Independence anniversary.
In a statement made available to the Zambian Embassy in Washington DC, Ambassador Kerry, said the USA will continue to work closely with Zambia to strengthen democracy, support human rights, spur economic growth, and improve the health and education of the Zambian people.
“On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Zambia on the 50th anniversary of your independence on October 24. Fifty years ago, when your country was born, thousands of Zambians took to the streets shouting Kwacha – the dawn. Today, Zambia’s dawn and the promise of peace and democracy has become a reality.” Ambassador Kerry said.
He added that Assistant Secretary of State Linda Thomas-Greenfield is in Zambia representing America and pay tribute to the country’s inspiring record.
Ambassador Kerry noted that time and time again, Zambians have stood up, voted, and let leadership change hands peacefully.
He said Zambia and the USA are united in mutual respect and responsibility for universal values adding that President Obama was pleased to welcome Vice President Guy Scott to the African Leaders’ Summit in August, where they discussed many important issues during this transformative moment for Africa.
Ambassador Kerry observed that as Zambia celebrates its independence, the United States stands with her as a partner and friend.

Mushota you have a demon of antagonism, hostility, inferiority complex and hatred. Get deliverance as soon as possible.
Guys, how many serving presidents so far have come to celebrating with us?
@JK, it doen’t matter whom you celebrate with, what matters is level of joy. If you organize a party and make the blind people enjoy it, then it is a good party. They don’t see who is present and you are dressed.
Mushota what’s wrong with you at time. Now you seem to be off key
Zambia in the absence of Sata seems to be a GREATER AND BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY !
Sata has just done what he used to do when in Opposition.
He used to shud those events and it has repeated itself on him now.
SATA NEVER TO RULE ZAMBIA AGAIN.
Viva President Lungu Viva Zambia !!!.
Celebration is for us Zambians period.
After 50 years of Independence the elderly who fought for this country are penniless and starving.. I called Zambia today retired Zambians are starving!!
My 90 yrs old stepdad has no food TODAY he is starving after working hard for “peanuts” in the mines more for than 25 years!!!
His eldest son is also working in the mines for peanuts… and cannot afford to help the poor old man!!
SHAME ON YOU ZAMBIA FOR NEGLECTING THOSE THAT MADE YOU!!
Most Zambian would agree, Zambia with ALL it’s limitations is the best place to be for a Patriot.
Zambia
It is the place we call home
The place where the falls thunder water down
And create a multi-coloured rainbow of peace, love and harmony
Where exotic and wild animals run free and proud
Where the sun lingers long after the rains
Give me the freshness of home anytime
than the cold comfort of a foreign land
Cold, rainy with smack faced unfriendly people
Dear God, may I never forget
Who I am
And where I come from
Proud always and hopeful for a better future
I embrace my culture, my people
For a man that knows not his country
Cannot know himself
