Press Release

President Banda urges Dr Scott to seek God’s hand

LUSAKA, 30th October, 2014— His Excellency Mr Rupiah Bwezani Banda, the Fourth President of the Republic of Zambia, has advised acting President Guy Scott to seek God’s guidance as he leads Zambia following the death of His Excellency Mr Michael Chilufya Sata, the President of the Republic of Zambia.

The former head of State says leading a country at such a time calls for patience and wisdom, which is why divine guidance is always important.

In a letter of condolences to Dr Scott, President Banda says he understands the challenges of presiding over a country after the death of a sitting head of State, having acted when Zambia’s third President Levy Mwanawasa died in August 2008.

“I wish to encourage you to seek God’s guidance as you discharge your functions as our acting President because the enormity of the task ahead of you is one that requires patience and wisdom,” a part of the latter reads.

President Banda says he has no reason to doubt Dr Scott’s ability to remain steadfast and resilient as he leads Zambians in mourning the departed President and preparing the nation for elections.

“On behalf of my wife, Thandiwe, and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to express my sorrow over the death of our President, His Excellency Mr Michael Chilufya Sata,” reads the letter.

President Banda has also asked Dr Scott to convey his condolences to the Government and the Central Committee of the Patriotic Front.

  1. Advise him RB otherwise he will wind up dead pretty soon. It’s nice when everyone is bowing and calling you. Your excellency, but when the stress sets in, your healthy will deteriorate, and your old body won’t be able to handle it.

    • I hope RB is inviting himself to help out the Guy Scott. No no no, Scott is just fine, he has KK and Chikwanda to make sure Ba Sata is sent even better than Mwanawasa.
And if RB think that he is the expert in taking over presidency from the dead, then he got it wrong. No come-back, we are voting on new constitution.
      Inonge for President!!!

    • LT Mr Banda is not a president, even of his MMD party. Please desist from calling him that. Scott is the current president. You have not even addressed him as that in your headline. Please drop this obsession for Mr. Banda.

    • You nicompoop why can’t you leave RB alone, he is not even in politics, your liar President is dead and has carried along with him lies. No more Pathetic Fools Government. Kuya bebele, we shall vote wisely.

    • @SUNTWE (HYNA): Whether in office or not RB is PRESIDENT, just like KK. You are really a hyena looking for rotten bones

    • @Mwautila You are still dreaming! Please wake up – you can’t even spell HYENA, ldiot!! He is now a former head of state and can’t be referred to as president have you ever heard of Kenneth Kaunda being addressed as President Kenneth Kaunda after October 1991???

    • Please tell them, not everything is politics. These are just humble words of encouragement from RB and I don’t see anything wrong with it.

  2. The idea that because you once did it then you know how to do it and no one else does is obnoxious. The old text book may have had errors and short comings of its own.

  3. Mr. Banda appears impressed about his legacy. His story, as told by the rest of Zambia is clearly different. They trashed him after only three years in office.

  4. Damned if he does, damned if he does not.
Forget politics, these people have been friends even before three quarters of the bloggers here were born.

  5. hey!! Guys i dare you to stop commenting your stupidity and minded words upon RB. if i can ask you one question, do you truly believe that Guy Scott is going to run Zambia as you expect him to continue this journal of Leadership on the behalf of Sata?

  6. I’d rather take RB’s advice than some immature bloggers here.Under RB we had less divisiveness, more respectability, stable economy and more food surpluses.

  7. PLEASE LEAVE RB ALONE YOU PF MINIONS ,WE KNOW YOU DONT RESPECT YOUR FATHERS AND MOTHERS,THEREFORE IT IS DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO RESPECT ANYONE BECAUSE ITS NOT YOUR NATURE ,SPOILED CHILDREN WHOSE RESPECT ONLY LIES IN THEIR BELLIES.

  8. As it should be. That is why Mr Bwezani should continue in retirement to act as a source of political wisdom to the nation regardless of the party in power

  9. RB you are now playing your rightful role of being advisory. That is what we need in our Country. Infact RB and KK are supposed to assume the role of Chief Mourners as elderly parents surviving. Dignitaries are supposed to find these men at the funeral house. We cant afford to lose eldership in our Country by subjecting them to insults and other unpalatable. Internationally we gain more respect and continue as role models. It will be shocking and surprised to hear KK or RB is standing for Presidence. What an insult it would be to the nation certainly.

  10. My condolences to all Zambians, sad. Zambian’s always amazes me and always make me proud. How I wish as People we could forgive each other, accept each and look beyond Colour. Why cant we give everyone a chance to lead as long as they have credentials?

We have had BLACK leaders in Africa, and where has it taken us ( if not 20 Steps backwards) Does it mean if one is WHITE,YELLOW, CHINESE or of INDIAN DESCENT cant lead the Country he is passionate about or adopted? I think it’s time we accepted that we are one regardless of Colour or creed.

We need to re-write the stupid and out dated Constitution and let People with Hearts and true leadership qualities lead. President Guy Scot is a Zambian with a different skin Colour and it doesn’t make him any less.

    I would vote…

  11. Sometimes I tend to forget the Zambian past until I look at pictures like the one on this article. That’s when I’m reminded that there was a day when Kaunda was a god, his word was dogma and Unip had the reverence that rose to a mythical status. It’s hard to believe how an entire nation can be consumed by a singularity no matter how obscene.

  12. RB you have no shame! You are the last person to advise anyone. Remember you failed to announce Mwanawasa’s death for over 2 months. You turned Mwanawasa’s body into a a champaign tool. There was no dignity in the way you treated his remains. who wants you advise really? Go back to your farm, rest and prepare for you nxt court appearance. Can you tell us how much you spent on Mwanawasa’s funeral and how many manhours in productivity were lost due to Mwanawasa’s funeral. Your legacy as a president was to loot and plunder.

  13. Kanitundila should stop pretending he is wise. He’s been advising Kenya ns Malawians, Zambians as if he is the most experienced of presidents when he never did a term. We all know he was a thief. He must advise people on how not to steal given the experience of prosecution he is going through
