British Prime Minister, David Cameron, has expressed his condolences to Acting President Guy Scott on the death of President Michael Chilufya Sata.

In a letter to Dr Scott, Mr Cameron said:

“I am writing to express my condolences and those of the British Government to you and the Zambian people on the death of President Sata.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the President’s passing. He played a commanding role in the public life of his country for over two decades, and I know that his loss will be sorely felt in Zambia and beyond.

I had the privilege of meeting the President on the occasion of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012. It was clear to me from our conversation that the President’s in-depth knowledge of the United Kingdom, drawn from his years living and working here, had helped further strengthen the already strong links between our countries.

I know that your Government are receiving support from our High Commission in Lusaka and from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London. If there is anything further that my office or the Government can do to assist in the coming days, please do not hesitate to ask.

Once again, please accept my sincere condolences.

  1. Is “Acting President” synonymous with “Interim President?” I would have thought that one “acts” on behalf of someone and in his/her absentia. Who is Guy Scott “acting” on behalf of?

    • QUESTIONS FOR PF BEFORE ELECTING NEW PRESIDENT.
      1. Why did PF Don’t Kubeba us about Mr. Sata’s health and what guarantee do we have that they won’t lie to us again? Some people have to account for this….
      2. Why do you (PF) allow your cadres to misbehave and disturb our peace?
      3. Was the bloated cabinet under MMD reduced as promised? This is partly the reason for the high debt we have now accrued due to limited revenue thereby enslaving future generations.
      4. Constitutional reforms promised in 90 days, how far?
      5. Where are the jobs and more money in our pockets with this wage and employment freeze?
      6. Why allow the vendors to litter our streets?
      7. Charges and harassment of opposition political party leaders and people with divergent views, how and why?
      8. The unnecessary

    • 8. The unnecessary by-elections we have experienced, any reason?
      9. Appointment of relatives, cadres and friends without giving every Zambian a chance to aspire for the jobs, are others less Zambian?
      10. Many contracts to companies that have been corrupting you as alleged by Mr. Chikwanda and making the Anti – Corruption Commission toothless but used to settle scores, just explain?
      11. Why have you not pursued our money borrowed from DBZ to be paid back by the people that operated Zambian Airways? You know them…
      12. Why do you (PF) like Don’t Kubebering us most of the time? Any new promises to tell us during the campaigns?

    • The Great is back in Britain. Thank you Cameron thank you Great Britain! GB, GB, GB. We need 200 airline tickets to send a strong team of mourners back to Zambia.

  2. The Government needs no help just help the people of Zambia with information on what killed him and what treatment was he receiving at King Edward IV hospital. The hospital has refused to comment on enquiries with usual lines “we do not comment on individual patients”.

  3. The advantages of having a white president are already beginning to bear fruits. David Cameron telling Scot if there is anything more that the British govt can do to help. Soon, Zambia will be flooded with real investors from UK and the country will be awash with pounds which is good for the economy. Long live Scot.

  4. @Jojo I see your mind is open and is not prone to manipulation, my only wish is for Zambians to open their minds to do what’s best for Zambia. Their is no shame in playing along until the wealth is made. We envy SA for its wealth and the attention the media gives it. Recently we have being given an opportunity challenge them but all I see is constitution this constitution that, God has given us this opportunity improve our country. CNN, BBC, ENCA, PRESS TV, CCTV, FOX news, Al-Jazeera, Indian tv etc, all this week have being talking about the new rainbow nation. All eyes are on Zambia now.

  5. I THINK THAT DR SCOTT SHOULD TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPEN INVITATION FROM DAVID CAMERON TO ASK THE BRIITISH GOVT TO BEAR THE COSTS OF HOSPITALIZATION AND CONVEYANCE OF PRESIDENT SATA’S REMAINS AS A PRACTICAL GOODWILL GESTURE TO THE FACT THAT OUR DEAR PRESIDENT DIED IN LONDON.

    • Thats an inferiority complex right there. If Zambian tax payers could fly him all over the world to seek treatment the Zambian tax payers can afford to bring him back! Take responsibility for your actions! You voted for him now take care of him.Cameron didn’t make him your president

  6. Guy Scot will be the best for the presidency because he is not aligned to any tribe. There will be neutrality in the corridors of power. We are just tired playing politics of tribe. Now it’s time to play politics of race and see which one is better or worse than the other. However, I bet you, Guy Scot will turn things around. He is straightforward who calls a spade a spade. We have spent decades balancing tribes in politics at the expense of national development. From the list of the presidential hopefuls, I see no quality to the level of Guy. Let’s take a quick glance at them: Kambwili, HH, Kabimba, GBM, Lungu, Frank Bwalya, Elias Chipimo, Nervers Mumba etc. Under the Lewanika Vs Chiluba ruling, Guy Scot qualifies to stand as a presidential candidate.

  7. look at how Zambia’s stability has been tested on so many levels during Sata’s ruling. May be,just may be, having Scott for a president isnt a bad idea after all,the guy is an economist for crying out loud. change the constitution and let him lead, see how many doors will open for Zambia.
