Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has advised individuals wishing to make financial contributions towards late President Michael Sata’s funeral to wait for a specific account that the government would provide soon.

Dr Msiska disclosed that government will certainly come up with an account for late President Sata’s funeral which he said would be managed according to government rules and procedures.

He warned people against depositing financial donations into an alleged account that has been made by some unscrupulous individuals to avoid been duped.

The Secretary to the Cabinet was speaking to journalists at a media briefing at Cabinet Office in Lusaka today.

He said government will soon disclose the account number at a named bank to the public where they can deposit their cash and material contributions for the funeral.

And Dr Msiska has advised mourners in Lusaka not to all throng to the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport tomorrow to receive the late President’s remains but instead line up along the route from the airport to Mulungushi International Conference Centre where the body will lay in state.

He said this would ensure that the late President is mourned with honour and respect.

Meanwhile, Dr Msiska has confirmed that several foreign dignitaries and some Heads of State will be coming for the burial of President Sata but declined to give names.

He said the names of the foreign dignitaries who will be coming will be announced when a conclusive programme is confirmed.

The late President Michael Sata who died in London at King Edward VII Hospital will be buried on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the Presidential burial site at Embassy Park in Lusaka.

President Sata’s body will arrive in the country tomorrow, November 1, 2014 at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and will lay in State at Mulungushi International Conference Centre until November 9 to enable members of the public pay their last respects from 12:00 hours to 18:00 hours daily.

Dr Msiska also announced that a requiem mass will be held at the National Heroes Stadium on 10th November before burial on the 11th.

  1. You must be joking. We donate money for what? The funeral is already paid for. He is already building his “retirement” home. His children have all stolen more than enough. He has spent millions of dollars on treatment. And you want Zambians to donate money to bury this thief? How about use my tax contribution to buy an extra bag of cement to make sure this guy never comes back to life ever again. Oh boy! It’s a relief not to have Sata and see his ugly face

    • Only a f o o l will deposit money in that account. Tax payers, VAT etc we give the government. Now you want the little money we get as salaries to give you the already rich guys. Hell NO. Indalama mwaiba ubwingi.

    • This time PF’s Zoro is ahead of me.
I was about to remind LT that they open account for Sata’s legacy. There is money here on internet. Just this afternoon 2700 people visited the website = $2700 dollar each. = $3000/day timuz 14 days (mourning) = $42,000 just for you LT to decide how to use it.
Pay yourselves you guys, you busy promoting PF government account. You do a good job LT. OPEN your own LT account, will through in money you can’t even imagine.

    • Here are the two sources where more than enough money can be drawn to complete all necessary formalities for the funeral and beyond. For the first in the history of this country, the office of the first lady enjoys this unconstitutional generous budget. RDA, a government agency responsible for millions of taxpayers kwacha operated behind iron curtains of State House without a board to account to. If Msiska cares to look carefully, there is a bottomless surplus. Only God knows how much of it in contracts has disappeared in thin air.

    • From all the comments on this site it shows that Zambians are slowly waking up. So, Mr Yamba please retract your request as your thieving plan can even be seen in your eyes! Go and make a huge withdrawal from Mr Sata’s FBZ account where a weekly amount of $5,000 for his son’s shopping was being withdrawn by a Mrs. Brenda Zulu of RDA.

    • Choma Maanu,

tonga bulls ! shout up !!!

if you and your fellow tongas dont donate , then dont disrupt the program .

it is peoples choice to donate .

  2. PF plunderers have no shame. They come with all sorts of tricks.
How do you start talking about contributions to Sata’s funeral before you tell us about the millions from the treasury (taxpayers) that has been spent on him without approval on trips to India, Israel and all over the place with large numbers of his family and tribesmen? You Msiska and Chikwanda will be held to account.

    • Relax exe. It is not ALL his trbes mates who have been beneficiaries of Satas’ activities. Say his family , girl friends and such like. The Subas and that female police chief are not connected to Sata by tribe. Be accurate in your labellings.

  3. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that this is Zambia where everything is done upside down until you come across an article like this one.

  4. Truly no pun intended, but when I saw the title of this article and before I clicked on it to read, I assumed they will be announcing that in light of Sata’s passing all his secret bank accounts will be open to the public for a transparent examination.

  5. THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE MR. MSISKA AND YOU A WELL ADVISED TO REMOVE THIS REQUEST IMMEDIATELY.

THIS IS JUST A MONEY WASTAGE VENTURE. WITH DUE RESPECT TO THE LATE PRESIDENT, A LOT OF TAXPAYER’S MONEY HAS JSUT BEEN WASTED ON A BLOATED DELEGATION TO NEW YORK FOR AN ADDRESS THAT NEVER WAS AND ALOT OF OTHER PAINFUL THINGS MEANWHILE MOTHERS ARE GIVING BIRTH ON THE FLOOR.

TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, LATE PRSIDENT MWANAWASA’S ACCOUNT OPENED BY BOZ ON TRIBAL BASIS, WAS NEVER ACCOUNTED FOR UP TO NOW. BANKS AND OTHER BIG COMPANIES WERE COMPELLED TO DONATE TO THIS FUND, BUT NOONE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT MONEY.

PLEASE DON’T GET EXCITED OVER THIS FUNERAL.

  6. Thts bus*t, u re not even ashamed as govt – save us the embarrassment. A country tht cannot mourn its president bt depend on donations. Why ve u not opened accounts fr the most desrving Zambians who cud not even afford the luxury of dying in Europe? Imagine this Headline on International news: “Zambian Govt appeals fr donations for president’s funeral

  7. Use that RDA money the man and his friends collected. The man was simply wasteful and nobody ever questioned him. Who travels to London for a medical checkup with a delegation of family members unless he knows he is just going there for one last Hurray?

    • This is cheap thinking or lack of it, as well as stupidity of the highest order all rolled in one. It exposes what we already knew about this administration- a conclave of thick-headed political reprobates. Open an account for students that missed out on bursary to enter university. If there is a time when common sense should prevail, it is now. Mr Msiska, Who are you trying to impress?

  8. That’s why I don’t to people with two shades of skin. They remind me of a snake in the grass. Watch out!! they will suck even your last penny out of you!

    • lol…. kanti neva!!
Iyo yena ikali…, iyakusonkela UMUSONKO “ku bene ba ndalama futi” “nechushi ne”

      Tufiakwa!!!

  9. Seriously??? Are we been led by normal people in Zambia? And this fellow calls hims Dr. Msiska? In what? Donations for what? Foundation or to feed bellies that have stolen from the dying folks at UTH, Kasama general no beds for patients, Mongu Pharmacy burining, Chipata general no drugs, Solwezi forgot, and Livingstone buried? Why should I donate when I can not have my relative air lifted to London or SA for medical check up? This folly at the highest order and very disappointing. Withdraw this donation article for ONCE!

  10. Even in death Sata is looking for money where ever he can get it. These people asking for donations for Sata funeral should be ashamed of themselves. Sata should have asked for donations for his treatment and that he could not do because including his uncle Chikwanda, minister of finance owned all the money in Zambia. Poor Zambia are yet being squeezed to donate to these rich people even in death.

  11. For God’s sake we cannot bury the Zambian President with donations from well wishers! All the expenses of the President are a charge to the government account! Zambians should truly be ashamed to beg for funds to bury the President!
The thought to open an account for contributions shows to bury the President indicates immaturity and near-foolishness on the part of our stupidity on top civil servant. Shame!!!
Yes, an account was opened for Mwanawasa , but that was just for corruption and continuing plunder of public funds. That is why that account was never audited.

  12. Shame on PF Govn’t, is that how low a Govn,t can sink?. My understanding is he was entitled to a retirement house and use the same cash to build his grave as his retirement home.
