Three Dead Presidents

Share

Cry, my beloved, cry
The heads do not hold
The neck is also dry
Oh cry, mourn, yell, and behold
Our presidents are dying, our legacy in carcasses
And you dust in which their fertile wisdom expend
Should we to fate our future focusses?
Should we to yesterday our regrets extend?
Please, please, let not the heavens be irritated
Chiluba,
Grow tender leaves and be not devastated
Mwanasawa
Son of the soil, call not another to another fest
And now Michael Sata
May your soul peacefully find rest
What, how, why,
When will this dirge be silent?
Where will this elegy lead?
And you Manda Hill
Should you live up to your euphemism?
Do you understand what we feel?
Don’t be a grave, preserve our humanism.
Mourn with our chitenges slain on the ground, Zambia
From the Aushi plateau to the mounds of the Lambia
From the ashes of the blindman who sang:
“Tukekala kenge”
To the bare-foot Ng’wang’wazi whose tongue
Believed in the promise of change
Let not hope be disappointed
Strong we become, though death be
If we should reduce powers to the next anointed
And give our new ruler less to do, but more to see
Life will be satisfied
Death will be mortified
Cry my beloved, and pray
Protect our land, Lord we pray
And another give us
But keep them long in Jesus!

  1. Chiluba was not a president. He was former.
Some “poems” ku lemba fye mu chibeba naimwe Ba Mwewa…
    “Chabula chabula ni Mayo,
    Kasongo Chabula eee…
Kapele na baya nabaya hee na baya…

    • @Nostradamus,
I am aware that former presidents are still addressed officially as “Mr. President” or “President”. So nothing wrong with referring to one Chiluba as “President”!

    • QUESTIONS FOR PF BEFORE ELECTING NEW PRESIDENT.
      1. Why did PF Don’t Kubeba us about Mr. Sata’s health and what guarantee do we have that they won’t lie to us again? Some people have to account for this….
      2. Why do you (PF) allow your cadres to misbehave and disturb our peace?
      3. Was the bloated cabinet under MMD reduced as promised? This is partly the reason for the high debt we have now accrued due to limited revenue thereby enslaving future generations.
      4. Constitutional reforms promised in 90 days, how far?
      5. Where are the jobs and more money in our pockets with this wage and employment freeze?
      6. Why allow the vendors to litter our streets?
      7. Charges and harassment of opposition political party leaders and people with divergent views, how and why?
      8. The unnecessary

    • 8. The unnecessary by-elections we have experienced, any reason?
      9. Appointment of relatives, cadres and friends without giving every Zambian a chance to aspire for the jobs, are others less Zambian?
      10. Many contracts to companies that have been corrupting you as alleged by Mr. Chikwanda and making the Anti – Corruption Commission toothless but used to settle scores, just explain?
      11. Why have you not pursued our money borrowed from DBZ to be paid back by the people that operated Zambian Airways? You know them…
      12. Why do you (PF) like Don’t Kubebering us most of the time? Any new promises to tell us during the campaigns?

    • I think there is a spirit of death at state house. As long as you are a president or former president you are likely to go. Mr Rupiah Banda must be very luck to survive. Palikele abakalamba pa state house. Just thinking.

  2. Way over-the-top. Why didn’t he write the poem when Mwanawasa died? Picking and choosing, but we know you and your true characters. Tamulila abana babanenu kano abana benu, and here you are trying to shrowd your dubious patriotism in a strange dirge that is really meant for Sata… Rubbish. You should have at least been honest enough to dedicate it to Sata alone, because that is what it is all about.

    • accept it sata was man of the people than Levy and Chiluba these were created by image builders but Sata did it himself no wonder his funeral has outlived all the dead presidents. This is a lesson next to Sata is mazoka’s death these men carried the own images and thats why they will be remember. I challenge parties to look for self image builders than crowned ones. Chikubabe wako nag nigonga nizanu try another

    • @Chitapi
You never cease to amaze me. You will see evil in everything. Other people’s virtues are vices to you. When one of your own is praised, your mind doesnt get it but should any of those you hate receive the praise, you hate. It is because of chaps like you that such a great country continue to lag behind in all endeavours, because you constantly force well meaning zedians to direct their brain cells on unimportant and inconcequencial matters. People composed songs of praise for Levy, they called him exemplary and all kinds of words reserved only for men of eminent virtue in society. But as far as your little mind is concerned, no one should mourn Sata because of your prejudice.

    • Anyway the thing is all these guys have met now in one place. I hope they are still friends on the other side. But knowing the nature of the place (HELL), I am not sure they are enjoying.

    • Sorry abouttheir deaths but as usual typical of African leaders they rush to other countries for treatment leaving the poor to die in hospitals with inadequate facilities .When will our leaders start really start focusing on serving their own people?

  3. You voted someone into office when he was terminally ill, yet you expected him to last for years. Those are crocodile tears.

In fact Zambians must take seriously voting leaders into office based on their healthy status. Mr Sata is gone leaving behind a big mess because he was not fit.

    > He has gone without holding a press conference.
    > Did not visit provinces to appreciate people who put him in power.
    > Failed completely to control in fighting in his party.
    > He was completely oblivious on what was going on in the country, all
statements from State House were manufactured by Cartel.

  4. A dictator________,a thief ________and a sqeaky clean servant of the people_______.

Your guess is as good as mine so fill in the blanks for yourself.

  5. If I cry then cry
When I long I long for prosperity
From sunrise to sunset I toil
My family are baked in the hot sun toiling for peanuts
The earth beneath me is abundant yet i receive not
When I cry then I cry
Poverty anywhere is a hinderance to prosperity everywhere
If cry then I cry and if I long then I long for prosperity
From kanfisa to luboto but I see no light
From Mbabala to Mbala I toil but then I receive not
When I cry the I cry

  6. **** If I cry**** Typo-less

If I cry then I cry
When I long I long for prosperity
From sunrise to sunset I toil
My family are baked in the hot sun toiling for peanuts
The earth beneath me is abundant yet i receive not
When I cry then I cry
Poverty anywhere is a hinderance to prosperity everywhere
If cry then I cry and if I long then I long for prosperity
From kanfisa to luboto but I see no light
From Mbabala to Mbala I toil but then I receive not
When I cry then I cry

    • Whoever kudod me down is illiterate but that’s what we have to do to correct this gratuitous markdown on the ground which also translates in how people throw away votes. Even when they have the answer in their sights they will still pick the wrong one. HH is the only way forward! Hallelujah Hallelujah in Jesus’ name.
“For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten” Ecclesiastes 9:5

  7. During election campaign:

Reporter:Why did you choose a boat as your symbol?
    Sata:Nomba walefwaya ndibikepo ba wiso?

    We will miss you

  8. Finshi mule lila imwe naimwe,…..?!!?!

Lyonse fye ni “Cry the Beloved country”,.. this is getting tired mwe,…

  9. Mushota ……kekekeke.
By the way why pretend as if you are in Glasgow, Scotland? That flag you’ve put there is not Scotish.Be proud to be Zambian and resident of lovely Zambia. You are within Zambia.Get a life…You are a pretender….Shame on you

  10. Cry what? fimbi tuleibwelamo.. bushe Sata is the first president to die? TB Joshua said it before, people ati iyo ma Mugabe to go.Mukamona akesa namukolosha

  11. Listening to the speech at his installation as President that is being replayed on ZNBC, I realize that for a long time we have been misled by opposition over the 90 days. In his speech he used the word “Initiate” and NOT accomplish as we have been made to believe: He said “within 90 days I will initiate ………….. ” Not “I will complete……” And true to his words within 90 days he initiated the constitution review programme and many other projects like sales reversal of Zamtel etc. Can politicians for once tell the truth in their bid to win support.

    • Did you also hear him say that “he was firing all District Commissioners and replacing them with civil servant”? That he did and replaced them with civil servants > these only served for two months or so and were replaced with stinking cadres. What is your comment sir? You must have just heard that the appointments of other people to act as the President when there was one in the position was unconstitutional. Good riddance the guy is gone . May his confusion follow him.

  12. The problem with some zambians is that you dont want to fish with PF but when it is time to eat you want a bigger share. if you want Edgar lungu to balance appointments let all tribes vote him

  13. Lungu will get Eastern, nothern, luapula, copperbelt, lusaka 50/50, central 50/50. north western if you want ministers now is the time to be counted. There is a small fraction of votes from south and west.PF 70%

    • Your analysis is poor.To begin with,
      1) PF will go through a very violent process of choosing a candidate. It is not certain that Lungu will be the preferred candidate.
2)They used don’t kubeba slogan, and now what are they going to use,Oh it’s obvious-To continue the development projects initiated by Sata.If they lied about his condition what will stop them from diverting once they are in power?
3.) PF was Sata and Sata was PF,The death of the leader spells doom for the party.

  14. Its ironic that these guys are all dying in foreign private hospitals (do not know about FTJ)…its seems our leaders are so overdosed by power that they even think about improving facilities. ..why should I mourn for such people like Sata when babies are dying due to poor health care.
