Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska has announced that the paying of last respects to the late President Michael Sata tomorrow morning has been suspended.

Dr Msiska said the general public viewing of the late President’s body will be temporarily suspended from 08:00 hours to 14:00 hours on Saturday November 8.

Dr Msiska said this in a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today.

“Members of the general public are however advised that body viewing will resume on the same day (Saturday) in the afternoon at 14:00 hours and will go on until 19:00 hours,” Dr. Msiska explained.

Dr Msiska however said the body viewing will continue normally on Sunday, November 9th, 2014 from 08:00 hours to 18:00 hours, which is the final day of paying last respects to the late President.

On Monday, November 10, a day before burial takes place, an interdenominational thanksgiving requiem church service in honour of the departed President will be held at parliament buildings before the body is taken to State House where it will lay in State .

Thereafter, on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, a requiem mass in honour of the late Mr. Sata will be held at the National Heroes Stadium before burial at Embassy Park presidential burial site on the same day.

And Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba announced that eight Heads of State have confirmed that they will attend the late President Sata’s burial on Tuesday next week which has also been declared a public holiday to enable Zambians follow the burial proceedings.

The Presidents are Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Hifikepunye Pohamba of Namibia and Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique.

Others are Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, Kenya’s Uhuru Kenyatta, Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Peter Mutharika of Malawi.
Mr Kalaba said Tanzania will be represented by its Vice President Ali Muhammad while other countries within and outside Africa will send representatives.

President Sata died at King Edward the Seventh Hospital in London last week on October 28th, 2014.

  1. Yes it is Felipe Nyusi new president of Mozambique and not Quibuza like reported before by ex-foreign minister Kalaba.
The body viewing should have ended last Tuesday. We could still mourn without viewing.

    • These are instructions from dr Scott who is Scottish by decent and shows what an amazing job he is doing the acing president.

      Thanks

    • Bu President nabu nunkila so humu guyz Humutima Huletunta (HH)………..
Halefwaya Ha-teke but haleilasha na huno muku.

    • The body may be decomposing.
No matter what, body viewing is evil and macab. I have never done it. It is a warped sense of voyerism.

    • This habit of dying in office should end. It creates uncertainties in the nation. I can understand dying as a result of something sudden; but the current case and that of Mwanawasa, there were signals that should have prompted retirement and transition nurturing.

  2. This might be a morbid question but how are they preserving the body for so long with all that heat in the country at the moment? Has he been embalmed?

    • The temperature is very cold in the hall. I went there this morning. And even if it wasn’t, the embalming of bodies to preserve them is from time immemorial and should be advanced by now. Lennon is still ‘alive’, well embalmed forever.

    • @Aleshaday – thank you for correcting me. I just never get the spelling right of Lenin. Appreciated and I will remember in the future.

    • @ Anderson – Speak for yourself! By 7am this morning there were thousands of people, I repeat, thousands – lined up all the way past parliament building to Olympia. It must be worse this afternoon and this has been the sight since Monday.

    • @Cheeta, these are loafers with nothing better today. We are a Christian nation and should not glamorise death! After viewing then what?

    • Kaili ayamba ukubola. Today I went there and there was a ka rotten type of smell in the hall. The man is rotting in the coffin especially that he started rotting whilst alive. They need to put in more of the embalming the nation chemicals stuff that Zambeef was using in the imported offals.

I don’t just see the justification of more than 3 days of body viewing. I see it more of parading a dead man that can’t do anything to stop it. Since now we getting accustomed to loosing sitting presidents the new draft constitution must clearly include a number of things.
      How many days national mourning
      Days of body viewing
      Days from death to burial
      Type of burial
      Price of casket
Amount to be spent on funeral
Guess these things can make sense to mother Zambia.

      Thanks

  3. There has to be an accounting of what killed number 1 public officer. Zambians must lift themselves out of this lethargy and take charge of their lives. Cheated out of 90 day miracles and denied information about what murdered Sata, I mean fuc!ked at every turn, what will it take to assert yourselves?

  4. …I ‘love’ the last statement…..’President Sata died at King Edwards the Seventh hospital in London…’….we must be ashamed of ourselves

    • @dodoma, it shameful because the huge sums of money spent on politicians’ healthcare abroad could be well spent on our own hospitals so that every Jim and jack can access good healthcare. Additionally, his condition judging from his appearance prior to departure was already beyond redemption. We know God works miracles, but those miracles can happen wherever a believer is. No need for chartering planes at the expense of poor nationals.

  5. You cheat us that UTH is your hospital when you get elected. once you get our vote you demand us to rush you to 7 star hospitals of the world and you leave us wallowing in UTH, sleeping on corridors. Now even the 7 star hospital fails to heal you, you come back and demand us to view you dead bodies. What the heck is wrong with you politicians?
All you politicians should know one thing that death is the same at UTH or at 7 star hospital. You have to take care of the citizens whom are the owners of the tax money you are paying for the huge bills at 7 star hospitals. We all are gona die but all deaths are equal. improve our hosptals for the benefit of all members of the public (the poor & rich). Africa is got issues mwe. Everyday accidents killing poor people yet we are spending on 7…

  6. Ladies and gentlemen: what killed BY (Ben Mwila)? Any idea? Some say some people in Govt tortured him through revocation of road construction contracts? Any truth?

    • If there is any truth in this then there is a problem with making a career out of swindling the govt. Some politician have no career outside politics and that is a problem for them no one else.

  7. I think the chap is now rotting and smelling and they need to do some maintenance work on the corpse of the dead tip pot dictator

    • Maybe his URINE BAG needs changing!

Or perhaps they are taking him to appear before a MEDICAL BOARD to see if he is INCOMPETENT/INCONTINENT/ INCAPACITATED???

  8. Well done, Zambians too much chimpwena, why torture your memory with a corpse even if seeing is believing? And dying in former colonial master’s hospital is shameful when you were the minister of health and president after expelling doctors and nurses. This time lets for vote for quality.

  9. Why trouble the dead man. 7 days laying is State. Doing what? He should have been buried may be 4 days after his death. I also don’t understand those who queue up to see the dead man. I agree with the blogger who said these are loafers who have nothing to do. Who never saw Mr. Sata when he was arrive?

    • The extent of the queues shows you how much idle time there is in Zambia. People have nothing better to do hence the high poverty levels. Focus on improving yourselves, making yourselves more productive maybe the poverty will end

    • @Chils These people are coming to see the one that promised them —

      MORE JOBS!

      MORE MONEY IN THE POCKET!

because they have NO JOBS and NO MONEY IN THE POCKET!!!!???

But lots of time to see the LIAR that FAILED to deliver his promises!

    • I hear you baba a Banda. They never saw that man when he was arrive. Now they have alived at the viewing site so they can lecord the body with their phone video camelas before they buly the man.

  10. imwe ba united puppets for nothing dudes (upnd) if you want yo tribal men to rule, you should field GARRY NKOMBO, PERIOD.

  11. Am not worried about what killed Sata and Chiluba. I really want to know what killed MWANAWASA. When I become president of Zambia, I will demand an inquest because I know that Xavier Chungu, RB, Chiluba, Katumbi and all those that were appearing in court during Mwanawasa,s tenure came together and poisoned LPM Sc

  12. @ ZEBIGE, ULI CHAUME SANA!!!! I AM FALLING DOWN WITH LAUGHTER.

HH LOST IT A LONG TIME AGO. THE YOUNG INTELLIGENSIA CALLED MUHABI LUNGU FINISHED HIM WHEN HE GAVE A CLEAR, WELL RESEARCHED ANALYSIS THAT UPND CANNOT WIN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. IF LATE MAZOKA WAS STILL ALIVE, MAYBE THIS MAY BE HIS TIME, BUT GOD DOES NOT SUPPORT FREE MASONS.

TO MAKE IT WORSE, MANY ZAMBIANS LOST INTEREST IN HH WHEN HE EXHIBITED SURPRISING AND FRIGHTENING LEVELS OF UNPATRIOTISM WHEN HE ABANDONED THE JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. THEN SOMEONE WHO USED TO CALL PRESIDENT SATA AS UKWA, CHIMBWI NO PLAN (CPN) SUDDENLY WANTED TO BE CHIEF MOURNER FOR THE LATE PRESIDENT’S FUNERAL.

ZAMBIANS HAVE SEEN FOR THEMSELVES, THAT ‘HALEIVOTELA HEKA’ HAS NO PRESIDENTIAL AND STATEMSMAN QUALTITIES. SORRY HH, WAITAYA WEKA

  13. Zambia is in deep sh**t if it continues with the current government. These guys(bembas) are not after developing zambia but stealing and selling out zambia.

    • Zambia is already SOLD!

Cost – 8.2 Billion US Dollars.

      Cheap bargain huh?

Who sold it ? – Michael Sata

Why? to pay the costs of his MEDICAL TOURISM

But he is dead. Who will pay? – The Zambian taxpayer.

  14. I have to agree with those of you who imply that this body viewing business is a double edged affair. There are those who come to pay their last respects and those who come to shake their tail feathers and tell the dead guy that, you got what you deserved.

  15. @Nyau
Great point there. I am one of those who is not sad at his passing at all. I keep asking myself what’s happening with his weekly $5000 deposits from the “Chinese Infestors”. Vanity vanity says the teacher

  16. I am saddened and disturbed by the negative comments that 80% of you bloggers have posited against our beloved Late President Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata (MHSRIP). Surely how do you criticize the dead person? This shows how disrespects you are/were even to your biological parents. I want to believe that most of you people posting negative comments about the dead president are ‘Satanists” because no normal person can say the rubbish you have posited without one involving himself in occultism. Let me remind you that God always watches you as you write your useless & demonic comments on-line. Mark my words unless you repent, insulting someone who was appointed by God attracts curses, and so anyone who has commented negatively against our Late President stand cursed. WATCH THIS. GOD IS…

    • @ Sandra,
Appointed by God?? Maybe God gave SATAn permission to rule because you the people are rebellious and evil. A people who will not use common sense in electing leaders. Now that SATAn has been defeated God is watching to see how you use your brains this time.

    • @Sandra Mutinta Hamweemba

If this CLOWN Sata “was appointed by God” then God must be the stup!dest id!ot in the universe!

I don’t think so! Sata was NOT appointed by God. He sneaked into State House with LIES and CHEATING. Would God help him with that?

What are you saying? GOD agrees with LIES??????? PLEEEEZE!

    • @Mutinta
I have a strong sense that you are the type that is steeped in superstition. Also very selfless, which is not a bad trait. You listen to elders and show respect at every opportunity. You never question why, unless its to ask why someone is doing something you don’t know.

In other words you’ve not yet experienced what it is to be FREE.

  17. This is really a long process! I guess very hard and painful process for the family. Future leaders should learn a lesson, when not fit to run the office hand over power it will save your life a add few year to your life. Pride takes us to the grave where we won’t even enjoy our Labour. We don’t want another HIPC

    • HIPC – H-ighly I-nfected P-oor C-andidate. We get it Sir! It makes sense to vet the candidates carefully and all candidates should have the balls to finance a presidential run. We have decided to introduce a rule that requires aspiring presidential candidates to have a minimum balance of $2million (US- Dollars) not Angolan or wherever in their local bank account! One ($1m) million dollars shall be deposit paid to the ECZ returnable in full to the winning candidate and the losers forfeiting half their deposits. Self Funding Elections No Time Wasters! SFENTW.

  18. Chilemoneka kwati aldehyde naipwa amaka. And how do you expect the family feels each time they turn on their TV sets and they see a relative who can neither speak,or worse yet breathe? I think things like burials should always be hastened, regardless of status in society. It’s emotionally helpful to the family and loved ones. I admire how the muslims do it. If a burial takes long, then it’s 24 hours.

  19. I wish they had suspended public lying by PF when Sata was still alive.Where was Roland Msiska to suspend PF shenanigans?

  20. What the expect when they embalmed the old man in london, they should have told the English funeral director that he will be sent abroad and put on a display shelf in sub tropical temperatures instead of lying to him.
Anyway old man was deadwood you can not reverse such!!

  21. Scott is just ensuring that a true Zambian is installed as president, period! I mean, KK was of pure Malawian parentage, Chiluba’s father was Chabala Kafupi a pure Congolese Kaboke, Rupiah Banda was born in Zimbabwe of Ndebele & Malawian parentage while Sata’s father was a Mnwacusa from Mbeya in Tanganyika. Only Levy was pure Zambian & no wonder he seems to be the only one besides KK who uplifted the economy & politics of Zambia. Now, we know GBM’s mother is Zulu from Durban in South Africa, Mulenga Sata’s mother is Malawian! They do not qualify! If as Scott suspects Lungu is of Malawian parentage, he must be arrested for trying to wrestle power illegally. It’s about time these politicians especially the “lawyer” ones started adhering to the rule of law. By the way, I…

  23. By the way, I went to bid farewell to Ukwa-bola yesterday just to make sure it’s true the vile lumpen is dead, it stunk like hell!! Anyway, that is what multiple organ failure compounded by Ibola and HIV-AIDS does even to a satanic body. Let his fellow animals from Chipolika moan him, ise tiza chiliza!

  24. To the vile creatures who like posting invectives and spewing their hatred online the reason why body viewing was suspended was because there was a private mass at Chelstone Parish Catholic church.
The mass was conducted by Father Lupupa.
It better to have the correct information before you expose your backwardness and engrained hatred online.
You are celebrating someones death yet you are also destined for the grave.

  25. How can this LIAR and CHEAT be buried in Embassy park next to an honest man like Mwanawasa?

This is a real INSULT to Mwanawasas memory.

The only solution is to convert Satas grave into a public urinal so everybody visiting Mwanawasa can piss on him!
