Opposition Forum for Democracy and Development President Edith Nawakwi has called for fair media coverage for all contestants in the run up to the forth coming presidential by-election.

And the FDD Leader says her party is ready to contest the elections and that it will not join any alliances as it has tried that before and proved that alliances do not work in Zambia.

Speaking to Journalist in Lusaka today the FDD leader called on the media in the country to ensure that they are free and fair in the way they report on political parties both as individual political parties as well as collectively so as to have an informed would be voter.

“I expect you to inform the public about all of us. I hope that our colleagues in the media will be free and fair, I hope that your editors will be free and fair and project us individually and collectively as people who are capable of running tthe affairs of this republic, Ms. Nawakwi said.

In that projection of us” Ms. Nawakwi continued, I expect that the reportage will be fair and that all of us will get the time that we need to project ourselves to the would be voters. I hope that no one will be denied an opportunity to sale themselves.”

And the FDD leader said the party will not go in any alliance as it has proved that alliances do not work adding that unless other political parties are willing to support her party, the FDD is ready to go it alone.

“As party will have tested that (alliance) before we found out that it doesn’t work, we have tried to support other people thinking that there are bridges to a better life and those bridges collapsed.”

She added that the FDD is a mature party with enough experience to run the affairs of the country.

The country will go for a presidential election in less than 80 days to elect another president after the demise of republican president Michael Sata who was buried 11th November 2016.

And PEOPLE’s Party (PP) president Mike Mulongoti has said his political party is not ready to contest the presidential by-elections slated for January 2015.

Mr Mulongoti said his opposition party was not ready for next year’s presidential by-election but would go alone in the 2016 general elections.

He said the party would keep its little resources so as to be used in the 2016 general elections.

“As I am talking now they are only 18 months remaining before the general elections in 2016 and why wasting our little resources for presidential by-election. We shall float a presidential candidate in 2016,”he said.

Mr Mulongoti who is former Information Minister in MMD regime said his party would support the candidate who will be floated in by Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ), Zambians for Empowerment and Development, All Peoples Congress Party (APC) and MMD today in Lusaka.

He said the four political parties have formed an alliance adding that they would support one candidate.

    • @G Power In yo little dreams can she be president. May be after 2021. Iam nt seing PF lossing anytime soon. And by the way what value can FDD add to any alliance?

    • Ok Nawakwi, we wanted to offer you a job from HH, because he is looking for a running mate.
Is she the only female leading a political party?

  1. Alliances are crafted by people. If they failed in the past, it was because they were poorly and selfishly designed and applied.

Persevere; all good thing come to those that persevere, not quitters. Look around, examples are bound of great men and women that been persistent against great odds in their quest for that which they believe in and finally achieved. The first failure was not a failure but a lesson of what to avoid doing in order to succeed.

  2. Nawakwi I like you as a person. As you well know alliances have worked well in other countries e.g. in Kenya. Take a leaf from that book and learn something! If you had the people’s interests at heart, you would’ve gone into an alliance with other parties in order to win for our people. Now you have just shown that you are in it for yourself!! We can’t have such a person to lead a government. As a woman you lack the motherly instincts that are desperately needed to ensure that Zambia is rescued from the demons that have got it in their clutches right now!! A true mother would sacrifice herself to go save her child, even if takes getting in an alliance with the devil!!

    • Edith get into an alliance with HH, then you can be one of his ministers. You don’t necessarily have to be president of the country! Don’t sell your soul to those devils that are in power now!! And don’t get into bed with Miles Sampa, he already has more than 20 concubines and should be having his H-eye-V tests by now since he likes to dip it in without any protection

  3. HH, HH, HH . Vote for this guy, you will stop sending sick presidents for treatment in London, airplanes causes sick people to die, HH will bring sanity to our hospital system. If you go PF sorry, you will keep suffering enough of this family tree.

    • HH is so childish, immature and inexperienced. The way he caries himself with respect to national issues leaves much to be desired. HH will continue winning in Southern Province only. The coming presidential by-election he will lose for the fourth time. It really pains but this is the truth baba.

  4. Nawakwi has already defeated herself because she knows that her party has no members. She is working with PF we know. She has been a failure in life. She is a useless woman politician who just want to be called ka party president. I know she thinks that Ed will appoint her vice president. But let her be careful time has changed.

  5. confusion in the village everybody has been taken by suprise pf worse 90 days too little but that is what the animal driven consititution say you were told release the new consititution and you were refusing there you are viva hh viva upnd you told them

  6. HH is an astute politician, he can do the following:
    1) Ensure Zambians reap the necessary benefits from mining
    2) Streamline agriculture
    3) Attract inward investment, based on his past professional exposure
    4) Expand fisheries for domestic and sub-Saharan African markets
    5) Economically collect what is due to ZRA
    6) Implement succession planning so that we do not end up with old and decrepit presidents in future
All will make Zambians better off, financially!
He is a wealthy man, so he will not steal public money
    GUYS, PLEASE ANALYSE THESE POINTS

    • Which HH are you talking about ?? Is it the HH who swindled Zambians through privatization? Is it the HH who is so egocentric, the HH who is so childish, the HH who has no political strategy, the HH who always wins in one region he comes from ..the HH who deceive himself to be the best of all Zambians, the HH who will never work with other people, the HH who will lose the coming election for the fourth time down the line. It pains but this is the Truth baba.

  7. Its PF nafuti nafuti.so all other parties will just take part for the sake of democracy!go PF go!HH is never a factor as he only wins in his southern province!

  8. Spot on Edith! Alliances don’t work in Zambia indeed. Media coverage on all candidates should be a must. Let us grow as Zambians and mature our democracy. Viva UPND Viva! Viva HH Viva!

  9. We may have “lame duck” president if the opposition candidate wins the presidential bye-election as he/she will not have “enough” Mps. We should be debating this possibility as PF self destructs.

  10. The negative comments about HH are just fear for the man and psycholigically campaigning against him. He is the most civilized among all candidates. Well educated and positioned for leadership. UPND, please campaign hard and ignore the maggots on this blog
