Zanaco smell league title number seven

Share

Aggrey Chiyangi is just 90 minutes away from his debut FAZ Super Division title as coach when Zanaco visit Red Arrows at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Zanaco enjoy a slim one-point lead on the table heading into the final league games of the season this weekend.

Zanaco, Zesco United and Power Dynamos are first, second and third on 57, 56 and 54 points respectively.

A win for Zanaco away at relegation threatened Arrows will hand The Bankers their seventh league title.

Zanaco, who last won the league in 2012, are currently tied on six titles with Power Dynamos and Green Buffaloes.

Victory will hand Chiyangi’s first league title as coach since he hang up his boots at Power Dynamos ten years ago.

However, a loss or draw for Zanaco and a win for three-time winners Zesco at home over demotion facing Kabwe Warriors in Ndola will see George Lwandamina also win his debut league title.

Lwandamina won two league titles at Mufulira Wanderers as assistant coach to the late Ashios Melu in 1995 and 1996.

Since then, Lwandamina has come out second best with two runners-up medals at Green Buffaloes in 2006 and 2007 and at Red Arrows in 2011.

Meanwhile, defeats for both Zesco and Zanaco and an emphatic win for Power at home against Nakambala Leopards could see Tennant Chilumba’s side cause some late drama in the title race.

At the other end of the table, fourth from bottom Green Buffaloes battle to keep their 15 year stay in the Super Division alive when they host demoted Indeni in Lusaka.

A win for Buffaloes and a loss for 12th placed Warriors will see the latter demoted.

Buffaloes have 33 points, Warriors 34 points and Arrows 35 points with all to play for on Saturday.

  1. I would like the league to be WON by NdOlA tEaM ya ZIKO. To represent our greaty Nation of football in CAF CHAMPIONS CUP & then the BaCkErS in CAF CONFINDERATION CUP not ‘ABA YEELLOW’.
REASON: there are easily been kicked ‘OUT’ in first round (TP-MAZEMBE 6-0) unless if in CAF their was a provision of hirng a CLAB their could come to ‘WUSAKILE TEAM’,
“12 TIME CHAPIION OF THIS GREATY NATION BASANGA BALETEYA FAVIOUR”.
