PATRIOTIC Front (PF) aspiring presidential candidate, Mulenga Sata has said he is eligible to stand as president because his mother was an indigenous Zambian born in Kitwe.

Mr Sata said there was no question about where his mother was born and he was, therefore, not affected by the parentage clause in the Constitution.

“My mother was born in Wusakile in Kitwe and you know who my father was,” Mr Sata said. “There is a ruling on the matter. Yes I could have relatives from Malawi but my mother was born here.”

Mr Sata, who is Lusaka mayor, was speaking when he featured on UNZA Radio in Lusaka yesterday.

Commenting on the election, he said it was inevitable for the next leadership to continue with development projects initiated by late President Michael Sata as the implementation process was gradual.

Mr Sata advised those vying for the presidency in the PF to work within the stipulated time frame in order to move all party projects forward.

“Nobody will reinvent the wheel in one and a half year, it is a gradual process that the next person to be elected should continue in an effort to move the party projects forward,” he said.

Mr Sata said that the PF was looking for a caretaker to hold the party together.

On relinquishing his party position, Mr Sata said according to the party constitution, the position of lower party ranks was within 48 hours unlike that of the secretary general that was immediate.

He said if elected at Republican president, he would continue with infrastructure developments and road networks to open up the country.

On Rupiah Banda’s decision to come back to active politics, Mr Sata said the former head of State had the democratic right to do so.

    • Go for it my young brother the PF madness has already diffused in the rank and file from top down. If anything, you are defending your Sata name.

    • Mulenga can qualify, but can not be a Zambian president. That DEMOCRATIC RIGHT ishile has brought graffit on face of Zambia. It is like the term “Dr.” or “White wedding” or “Facebook page”.
      now it is
“Presidential Candidate”. Anything want to be nominated… who will be voters then?

    • You see, President Chiluba was also born in Kitwe, coincidentally in Wusakile. Why is it that all alleged foreigners are born in Kitwe, and Wusakile in particular?

    • All Zambians really dull or what ? Those people have idea about economy ? Zambia is the poorest country and the kwacha is the weakest in the world .

    • Show us the birth certificate you foo.l?? next you will lie that there were no certificates then?? PF Lies will not take you anywhere. Sata family are an embarrassment?? get it you are out of state house. Time to change and move forward.. You don’t qualify we know your mother and all your relatives in Malawi, so stut up.

  1. Iam happy you have spoken and cleared the air. Also know that its your democratic right to stand for Presidency and but willing to accept if things go the other way.
One lady on news yesterday made me think otherwise, she talked about how a mother can support a son, l felt too that maybe the Dr. could have supported you (son) than having many people from the same family stand. Iam not saying its wrong.
I wish you all the best

    • this is crap; pf have lost their filthy minds. that Mulenga is a hoe and i will plunder his bottom without lubricant any day now; evans mfula at evaduco ltd reporting live from lusaka and hiding from kitwe boys; PF, UPND and MMD chicalas can suck on my chicala all day long and sallow my cum

  2. But your s mother is contesting too! Do you think that you can do better than your mother who was to some extent making decisions for this our great nation? Do you fear that she will not appoint you minister of Local Government? Have you talked to her to find the best way forward?

  3. But Shouldn’t Mulenga Sata also relinquish the position of Mayor ? Doesn’t holding on to that position give him undue advantage over other presidential contenders ? Come to think of it , shouldn’t all the contenders who are also MPs relinquish their seats ? We could have about 7 by-elections ! ( GBM, Given, Wilbur, Miles, Kambwili, Edgar, Bob)

    • Actually they don’t have to relinquish public office that they were elected to to stand for elections within the party. But if elected party president, once they file nominations for Republican Presidential election, then they have to relinquish the other public office that they hold.

  4. That’s neither here nor there Mulenga wesu. It makes no difference – you ain’t ready and you can’t win.

  5. people of Zambia ,let us be very careful with this family tree,we should not even vote for them, if one is nominated for presidency. how can they unite the country meanwhile they are failling to unite themselves as a family , they cant support each other ,what does it shows? they can just create disunite, dispute , confusion and anarchy in the country. young boy u have even started compaigning that u will continue with the infrustractures developement which yo father left, is this yo vision ? what infrustracture indicators of developement have created in lusaka so far ?,that will convice people of Zambia that u can do it.

  6. “He said if elected at Republican president, he would continue with infrastructure developments and road networks to open up the country.” Surely can this be all he wants to do when elected president?

  7. This ka Mulenga has all the stereotypical attributes of a thieving Bemba kaponya. Wide eyes, conniving stare, weird hand gestures, everything ka. By the way, I said stereotypical, not factual. Although sometimes facts merely confirm stereotypes.

  8. The road infrastructure you boast about is one sided. You have failed to tar the Solwezi Chingola road which is an ECONOMIC ROAD and contributes more than 30% to our GDP. Instead you do the road to ferry vinkubala and you say development coutrywide…..foolish PF. Solwezi has no new tarred roads. I think its time for change before PF suffocate our nation.

Viva UPND you got my vote this time and will go round campaigning. ..Viva HH, no monarchy. ..

  9. Spot on Mulenga Sata. Go on. The name Sata to me tastes sweet. Sata’s legacy can not only be kept through his vision, but also through his name and PF. As for the criminal parentage clause in the current constitution, personally I would never have respected it even if both my parents would have been born outside Zambia. The discriminatory parentage clause was criminally passed by a sheepish parliament at the behest of a tinpot dictator who wanted to forestall an imminent come back to power of eminent statesman Kenneth Kaunda.

  11. Mulenga, you have not told us of what makes unique as a better candidate. Again note that if you are going to use your fathers name, you will not make it because your father was a typical failure in his leadership as president. I am told though that when he was governor, he worked hard and maybe that was his ideal level. The projects you are mentioning were done haphazardly without proper due diligence resulting into people going hungry and the country sliding into debt, I know you have no idea of what people going without a meal may mean but my advice is that if you are going to use your fathers name who failed lamentably your campaign will collapse

  12. Abash family tree,ni Edgar Lungu chabe!ka under 5 Mulenga Sata,Miles Sampa,Bob Sichinga and Kaseba must all pull out and mourn late Sata!zambia is not zaffico!go Edgar Lungu go!Guy Scott and his cartel wont make it because God has said YES in favour of Edgar Lungu!

  13. Mulenga, I won’t vote for you but thanks for your courage. I see you are rational but you still have some years to go before you can be ready. However, the embarrassment is your step mother Kaseba who with no track record of political leadership performs a mad act of wanting to stand. A misguided sister of hers also issues a hollow statement that Kaseba has to save PF, you heard me correctly that of all the people it can be Kaseba to save PF. The post news paper have on each occasion mentioned that Kaseba has to stand because of the call from the people, of course this is a scheme as they have been no people asking her to stand. It’s all a game of tricks, how sad

  14. The question of the family tree contesting wss not disunity in the family, was a cunning strategy. the plan was to have most votes for the preferred relative if the ten candidates voted among them as Scot said. could work even if they pretended to go into second round. once all family opposition was eliminated they could give way yo the preferred family member or pretend to vote again. Maybe that is why MCC’s protested against scot?

  15. Bunch of thieves the lot of them. Falling over each other to protect the loot. whilst they appear to be confusion, they are busy steeling. Before you know it, Zambia will sitting on a 10 billion dollar debt. This family tree should never be allowed to go anywhere near government ever again or our peace will evaporate in thin air.

  16. But who proves this? Can ZWD do a quick investigation for the people pleas? RB and Chikwanda the old colleagues of Sata can be witnesses, even KK, Girey etc.

  17. Zambia is the poorest country please and the kwacha is the weakest . Anyone got idea about the economy please . No power or electricity , how will the change the economy by asking more uero bonds ? While you are busy swearing to guy scott but busy asking money from Europe .

  18. What a waste of space Chiluba’s move created in this country. Now we even have exposes coming out about who has relatives across the borders. That alone is enough to render the parentage clause null and void. So what would be more dangerous? A President with mass relations across the border, or a President who was simply born in Zambia? What a waste of space!!!

  19. We want to see your mother ‘s birth certificate Edgar Lungu produced his mother’s NRC. Those of us who grew up in kitwe know that a lot people came from Malawi and Tanzania to work in the mines so you can not lie to us young man. I don’t buy your story Guy Scott knows your mother that’s why he said you can not stand.

  20. The presidency has been made so cheap by mediocrity. Now even clown thinks they can be president of Zambia!! Chiluba and Sata (MTSRIP) did their best to lower the bar. Now the woman doctor in whom natural intelligence is absent wants to lower the bar further!! No, Zambians wake up and change. These corrupt tribal clowns have had their fill and we can not wait to see their backs!

  21. Suspicious!! . what is Dr Kaseba trying to protect? I believe she knows the truth which Sata was doing. She knows if someone comes into power the truth will come out. I think she manipulated alot things in government so she is afraid of jail.

  22. Go Mulenga wampanga, you don’t need to ask for support, from your step mother, your real mum, will give you all the support you need. And us your friends, go for it mwana
