Acting Patriotic Front (PF) President Guy Scott has said that only members in good standing with the party will be allowed to attend the 29th November 2014’s much awaited extraordinary general conference where the party president would be elected to run on the PF ticket in the 2015 Presidential by – election.
Dr Scott announced the development at a media briefing at government house last evening adding that this followed a successful central committee meeting at where the date for the general conference was agreed.
He said that the committee went ahead with the meeting as a quorum was formed despite some members boycotting the meeting.
“We held our second central committee meeting at State House today. Article 58(k) of the PF constitution states that an extra-ordinary conference be held to elect a party candidate. In that central committee meeting, we resolved that we hold a general conference this coming Saturday. We are going there on Friday and voting will take place on Saturday,” Dr Scott said.
He said the PF is bound by its own constitution and will not do anything to the contrary, which risks splitting the party.
He said those serving suspensions will not be allowed to attend the general conference until their suspensions are lifted.
Dr Scott said those suspended will have to answer charges before the disciplinary committee before they are cleared.
PF deputy secretary-general Anthony Kasolo said a quorum for yesterday’s central committee meeting was formed because 16 members who attended constituted the 50 percent constitutional requirement.
He said this number constituted 50 percent of the total number of MCCs, less the 16 that are suspended, leaving a total of 32.
Among the aspiring candidates who attended Dr Scott’s briefing are Chishimba Kambwili, Geoffrey Mwamba, Miles Sampa, Wylbur Simuusa and Mulenga Sata.
And Mr Kambwili has appealed to PF members to respect Dr Scott because he has the same powers which were vested in late President Sata by the party’s constitution.
He said all those that Dr Scott has suspended should not take their suspensions lightly because he is doing that in accordance with provisions in the party constitution.
And Roam Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili said the suspended members of the central committee should comply and answer charges against them.
Mr. Kambwili , who is one of the presidential aspirants , explained that Dr. Guy Scott has the powers to suspend anyone just like late President Michael Sata used to discipline members without being questioned.
He said the PF constitution vests the powers in the President to suspend or discipline anyone in the party saying those who wants to create anarchy in the party will not be allowed.
The MP who is also Youth and Sports minister added that the parallel members of the central committee should recognize Dr. Scott as the party president.
He said the President has acted within the constitution by suspending 16 members of the central committee.
He said those that are calling him and others names that they belong to the cartel should just comply with the constitution and do the right things as he (Kambwili) does not belong to any cartel.
Meanwhile, a PF MCC, Peter Kazhila yesterday alleged that Mr Kambwili assaulted him at Government Complex.
Mr Kazhila told journalists at Mr Lungu’s residence that he reported the matter to Longacres police post and that he wants justice to prevail.
“Mr Kambwili slapped me in the face and I want the police to take up this matter seriously,” he said.
According to a medical report from the University Teaching Hospital signed by Dr Mohammad Khan, Mr Kazhila was assaulted and suffered a headache and a swollen left eye.
Guy Scott, the best interest of the party is clearly something you are not interested in. You don’t care because clearly you have nothing to lose. Keep working for Rajan and Fred and lets see how far that will go. You wont win! What you are proposing above is so provocative that you are already projecting chaos at that conference. Its good that Kambwili is now respecting the PF constitution and Dr Scott. Whether one likes it or not, Scott is the president according to the Republican constitution and there is no argument about it.

I am a member of PF and what is happening is sad. The acting president is surely not a leader coz he has failed to unit his members but has gone ahead to destroy his own members. Guy, you need to sit down with those not on your scheme from Bwinjimfumu and hear them out, resolve your differences and then go for the compaigns as one. You need all your members. Come January 20th 2015, I will vote for the opposition so that PF should regret with whatever the leadership is doing! We voted PF into office then some selfish individuals just want to destroy it! Really regrettable! PF leadership should remember that winning an election is about numbers. If the current scenario is not reversed, PF should expect losing the by-election!
My word of advise to parties without a single MP in parliament, it will be waste of time filing in a presidential candidate because of their non-representation in parliament to form government!
Plan B: All MPs supporting Edgar, do not resign, but campaign for him if he forms a party. He will surely win because we the voters have chosen him just like the late MCS trusted him. Guy unilaterally cancelled all government and party related meetings. In short all government business meetings were suspended indefinitely; decisions would only be made by him- this was the first blow to PF (Strike One).
Guy unilaterally dismissed Eddie while were still mourning the late HEMCS, reasons were never given. So there has been a lot of bad blood between the two; no one can explain Guy’s actions except Guy himself and perhaps his chief advisor. This was the second blow to PF (Strike Two)…………
We all expect a leader to be level headed, reasonable and respectful of others especially in a democracy. Guy clearly has no mercy and for anyone that appears to stand in the way of his agenda will face his authoritative heavy-hand of discipline. After the so-called rogue MCC lifted Guy’s suspension in the interest of PF and the nation, Guy decides to move in swiftly to sideline those that appear to support Eddie and suspends them, excluding them completely for PF activities, a common strategy and practice done by manipulative leaders as they approach election day. I have posted time and again, that Guy Scott is a flawed character. President Sata and his family are Neo colonialists. They really have belief that White is better than Black, hence Guy Scott being appointed ceremonial VP.
That was a wrong appointment, but Zambians being tolerant and hoping to prove how ‘right on,’ we are in Africa, kept quite and went on with it. But Guy Scott is an access to all evil in Zambian politics. Corruption, dictatorship, and rule through violence, thuggery, lack of respect.
All he has done up to date is to muddy the waters, so that the Sata family can impose another Sata family member. It is this small family group that is causing all these problems. This has gone too far. The opposition are silent in the hope it will send votes their way.
However what is at stake is our democracy.
Democracy is not just having the right to vote; but actually the right to choose whom to vote for.
Nothing Guy Scott has done matches his cry for democratic process. The majority in his party have chosen, but under the pretext of democracy he has abused his authority and treated senior members without any respect. He has become so reckless as to make dangerous decisions putting peace of elections in question. But that is all deliberate. He is depending on violence to put through any Sata candidate they pick by fixing the numbers by cutting down the majority so that they and constituents are not heard. Why. So they can continue to loot Zambia and Guy is fronting British interests. They could not beat the Chinese so they will force…
Sadly, PF in its current form must be eradicated from Zambian politics. But again, the opposition have taken on the same politics of begging and borrowing. So we will continue with the same politics based on Neo colonialism.
I have listened, read and concentrated on HH propaganda to find some hope; but he is just making promises, ..rubble rousing. Lately he has made promises to street vendors to remain on the streets! He is so obvious. He is not explaining where the money is coming from for all his promises, lower fuel, fertiliser etc.
