PF Kabwata Member of Parliament (MP) and presidential aspirant, Given Lubinda, has dismissed media reports that he is a member of the ‘infamous’ cartel of the ruling party.

Mr Lubinda says nobody is funding him in the forthcoming presidential poll slated for January 20, 2015.

Speaking this evening when he appeared on Millennium Radio programme, the Kabwata law-maker refused to be funded and does not want to be a compromised candidate or a pone pawn who would be held at ransom.

“My hands are extremely clean; no dent in what-so-ever. My presidential bid is clean and I do not want to make them dirty. No-body is funding me and I refuse to be funded. I don’t want to be a compromised candidate or pone pawn to be held at ransom. This is the reason why I have refused to join any cartel of the PF,” Mr Lubinda said.

He claimed that he is the best presidential candidate for the January 2015 presidential by-election and offered himself to the Zambian electorate if elected at the forth-coming extra ordinary general conference slated for November 29, 2014 in Kabwe at the Mulungushi Rock of Authority.

Mr Lubinda, a former cabinet minister and Catholic Church member, was however, incensed when some callers pointed out that Justice and Defence Minister, Edgar Lungu was people’s favourite.

He alleged that the Finance Minister, Alexander Chikwanda, served more as acting President and not Mr Lungu.

He explained that Wynter Kabimba, former Defence Minister and PF Kasama MP, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, also acted as Heads of State in the absence of President Michael Sata and therefore Mr Lungu should not cheat himself because of duo portfolios he has and entrusted with instruments of power before President Sata died.

“I promise to give the Zambian people what they want and l am offering myself to my party and the Zambian people. We should not use assumptions to disqualify better aspiring candidates,” he said.

He claimed that once chosen as PF Presidential candidate at the Kabwe conference, he would amend the parentage clause in the republican constitution and also resolve the Chitimukulu chieftainship surrounding Henry Sosala as the paramount chief of the Bemba speaking people.

“This law of parentage is still there and hanging in balance, therefore, it should be gotten rid of. This clause is beyond me but the nation at large,” Mr. Lubinda said.

Mr Lubinda pledged to remain loyal to the PF party and quickly called for a cease fire engulfed in the ruling party because the late President Sata invested heavily in it.

He recollected that some selfish people had set traps against him leading to his dismissal from government.

“There was a malicious campaign behind me by some selfish people leading to my dismissal as a minister but it is a passing phase,” the Kabwata legislator said.

Mr Lubinda appealed to Acting President, Guy Scott and Mr Lungu to reconcile their differences and move forward as one united team noting time was running out.

But a caller, only identified as Banda, said the ground was ripe for Edgar Lungu and Mr Lubinda and other presidential aspirants were just wasting their time.

Another caller, only identified as Mr Musendo, challenged Mr Lubinda as to why in his 13 year-rule of Kabwata constituency he allowed the parentage clause to still be hanging in parliament instead of being addressed.

Most calls were characterized with appeals to the ruling PF party to put its house in order or risked losing the next year presidential poll.

As if that is not enough, the former ruling party, MMD is also embroiled with power struggle between Nevers Mumba and former President, Rupiah Banda.

  1. 1. Article too long…

    2. “Evil Cartel Holding Ailing Dictator Hostage” (‘Cartel’) is backing Kaseba.

    Thanks

    • But how can he stand when the constitution bars him? If today before he is president he is ignoring constitutional issues, what more when he is president?

    • There is nothing so styupid and uncivilized than believing in “cartel”. It is so f##Cking annoying. I hope HH & Maureen will never ever pronounce such idyiotic thing. Why should Zambia allow anything like a mafia, just erase them, delete such a person.

    • Sir, just defect to UPND! I really admire your qualities but for now you are in the wrong party. Next week we shall welcome you and many others from PF. It is normal do not feel pressured.

  2. There’s my boy! Lubinda is chubby yes, but among the PF degenerates I think he’s not among the worst of the worst. Anyway, truth be told, he doesn’t stand a chance in the sangwapo politics that will determine the next Zambian president. Not a chance in hell.

    • Lubinda is very shallow, I took time to listen to HH in a relaxed interview at his house on HOT FM this morning….HH is deep, focused and has a plan for the country…not any of the opportunist PF candidates

  3. Nice question the caller who called into question Mr. Lubinda’s silence on the parentage clause till now. The parentage clause needs to be maintained in the Constitution. It should not be changed to suit people who may have conflicted allegiance. We are talking about the presidency of a country here – sorry, my grandchildren will definitely be impacted but I would rather that is the case than see my country mortgaged.

    • @Adviser
“The parentage clause needs to be maintained in the Constitution.”

Well said. I don’t know why anyone would see it as a bad thing Chiluba put in place.

It should abso-fuc*ing-lutely stay in the constitution!

  4. Much as you mean well, and I applaud you for refusing to be pawned, you will not win the presidential elections that way and count yourself out unless you are extremely rich. Campaigns cost a lot of money. Even in the western democracies, presidential hopefuls have sponsors and lobby groups besides their own party.

    All the best Mr. Lubinda.

  5. I invite Hon. Lubinda to read what he said on 02/09/2008 on the restriction of mourners at the burial site and his comments on the succession bickering in MMD, what is he saying on what transpired during President Sata’s funeral and the goings on in PF now? It is easier said than done.

  6. Ba Given ka goneni chabbe mudala, there is nothing for u at the Conference. The Cartel u are talking about its just an ‘Imaginery’ thing it DOESNT EXIST.

The PARENTAGE CLAUSE should remain reasons being:

    1. All old Politicians whose parents were not ZAMBIANS WILL BE DEAD SOON.
    2. The new crop of leadership is taking Zambia Forward at the MOMENT whose parents are Zambians.

  8. The story of King Jehoshaphat (2 Kings 20: 19-25) is unfolding right before our eyes. The Amonites, Amalekites and others had formed a confederacy to defeat Judah but the Lord said the battle was not for Judah.
The in-fighting between PF thugs is sweet music because that is how the amonites killed each other while Judah (read UPND) won the battle without throwing a spear! May this prophecy come to Zambia in 2015.

  9. Mr. Lubinda sir. I did have much respect for you when you were in UPND but since you joined PF. I do not what happened. You seem to be a different person and far detached from what you where before; principle and foresight. This is why they says it imperative that one surrounds themselves with forward thinking people, the PF was just not for you. Anyways, you are a smart guy and if I were you I would even disassociate myself with PF. These people have destroyed the country. Corruption is at its worse, poverty is at its worst, cost of living is a its worst, priorities are to build roads instead of investing in Zambians or providing them with every opportunity to grow economically. What Zambia needs is an economic and business manager and not lies that made PF win. No one on PF ticket is win

  10. Lungu is a drunkard. If he is elected I will make sure HH wins. We need sober people like Lubinda. We are tired of Presidential funerals. Look at the one people are claiming to be famous just because he once acted as president when the president was away.

  11. My request to Mr Lubinda being so much respected by some of us is to withdraw from this so call fake race and support someone not Kaseba you need to maintain that respect people have for you same goes to Bob,welbur and Banda

  12. The dust will settle and at the end of the day PF have a track record of good work and they will carry the day.UPND is only in Southern and Northwestern.MMD is buried and the other small parties have no chance. At the Kanyama rally, street kids were mobilised and made to drink shake shake…..PF will win by over 80 percent.

    • @Mr Johnson, what PF track record are you talking about? Nepotism, Tribalism, Corruption and very high cost of living can be track record to be proud of? Do you realise that one tribe has taken about 90% of Gvt, Parastatal, Quasi Gvt appointments. Do you know that 89% in Foreign mission are from one tribe? We need a leader that will balance appointments. I can assure each tribe has people who have been to school. PF has been a big mess in this regard!

  13. I wil definately go for Dr Kaseba because Lungu looks unhealthy he will not stand campaigning.I think Dr Kaseba and Lubinda are okay with me.In fact Lubinda was a potential candidate thats why he was removed by those who noted his pontential.

  14. Mr. Johnson you are so shallow in the way you analyse things. You just sit in Lusaka and wait to post comments on the LT. Although I’m not a UPND support, the guys have made some progress. They are the only ones who managed to share some seats in the bye election even when Sata was alive. They have won the seats in the copper belt rural where they never existed.

I know that they may not be liked in Northern and Luapula provinces which in my views is just on tribal lines. For your information it may be very difficult this time around for PF to penetrate Western Province mark my words.

    • you are very much but you also need to realize that PF has had no seat in copper-belt rural areas for obvious reason but is more popular on the copper-belt in urban areas where the majority vote for it. UPND will do very wel in Southern, Western, North Western and most parts of rural areas in western parts of Lusaka province and western kabwe areas , PF on the other hand will do wel in Muchinga province ,Northern province, Luapula province, Copper-belt urban areas, Lusaka urban and it will also score more from Kabwe through to Kapiri going all the way to Serenje. MMD will also do wel Eastern province irrespective of who will stand on its ticket as presidential candidate

  15. PF is beyond redemption! “IT IS FINISHED”!
What is worrying though is that my relatives in Mufulira and rural Ndola say PF has built roads …..They are unaware of the greed ,lies and confusion of this dead party. Bwana HH, you need to go flat out in the rural areas, don’t campaign along the line of rail-real votes are in the villages.

  16. This guy thinks he can be president of PF and Zambia? Is he serious? PF is for us Bemba speaking people or our cousins from the east. Not these clones from Barotseland. You want Zambia divided and Barotseland independent? No one will vote for you sir. It is EL or Kaseba or Miles.

  17. In politics timing is very important. I have a lot of respect for Mr. Lubinda as a politician but I think the timing for him to contest the presidential poll is wrong. The wrangling in the PF and the factions that have emerged are not conducive for proper democractic practices to prevail. Personally, I wouldn’t want to lose Mr. Miranda as a potential leader in our country. However, experience has shown that , in Zambia, when good leaders contest for presidency under other peoples parties and lose that marks the end of their political careers. Considering how Mr. Lubinda was treated by PF, I d suggest that he waits until 2016, contest as MP under a different party and pick it up from there. The PF family cartel or is it forest is determined to get rid of all those who are not family.

  18. Given Lubinda is in the wrong party. I don’t know who told him to join PF the party where he was really not welcome and resigned from UPND where he had real chances. I don’t know now he will feel if UPND wins the elections. That is the problem with Given Lubinda, cannot be trusted exactly like Indians (his other half!).
