Political leaders vying for the presidency in the forthcoming presidential election have been advised to make realistic promises.

Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has reminded presidential hopefuls that Zambians are already frustrated with the unfulfilled promises which the ruling PF made in the run up to the 2011 general elections.

YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says this is why his organization is calling upon politicians vying for the country’s top job to make promises that can be easily achieved and understood by the people of Zambia that they can really be achieved.

Mr. Mwanza told Qfm News by telephone that such promises should be accompanied by modalities and roadmaps on how they are going to be attained. He said the people of Zambia on the other hand should have an open mind when such campaign promises are made to them.

Mr. Mwanza said the Zambian people should not allow any politicians to ever again cheat them with unattainable promises.

He has also reiterated the need for the ruling PF to call for a ceasefire of the wrangles that have emerged between two rival camps ahead of 2015 general elections. The YALI governance advisor has suggested the ruling party should come up with a conflict resolution mechanism that will ensure that all such squabbles are resolved. He says his organization fears that without this mechanism Democracy in political parties such as the ruling PF and the MMD is under threat.

  1. If they do that they wont win elections.

SImple as that. The lies have started with UPND who have taken criminals such as Andrew Banda If you want to vote for tainted men who claim they will leave traders where they are , go for UPND. If you want a tribalist party go for UPND

If you want prosperity, investment, jobs creation and you name it, let PF continue what they have been doing.

    This is a warning

    Thanks

    • What has PF DELIVERED ON?

      High fuel prices
      High Mealie Meal prices
      Uncontrolled street vending
      Wage freeze
      Employment freeze
      Tribalism
      High transport fares
      Un-professionalism in public offices
      Harassment of public servants
      Road contracts only to PF
      Huge national debt

HH wants to work with the above mess and make things better.

    • selfexpression

No party can do that, you should know that. If you think those are realistic goals, then ward 2 room 7 is open in Chainama for you

      Thanks

    • @ Mushota

You seriously must be mentally blind.

      Here is what makes PF a tribal party;

      98% cabinet Bembas
90% foreign service Bembas and family forest.
95% head of government departments Bembas and family forest.

If this does not convince you that PF is tribal party, then you need your head checked.

I am not surprised that you and Mmembe sleep on the same bed of lies and smear campaigns.

Unfortunately, that tribal tag on UPND and HH is long gone.

      Viva HH. 2015 Zambian President.

    • Wanzelu,

Those are striking figure, but surely they cannot be true.

You will agree with me that Bemba is the mostly dominant tribe in the country.
It is acceptable to have more Bembas than any other tribe.

Those figures you have come up with are convenient and are meant to discredit PF
Could the Government have had more Tongas, ? Absolutely, they don’t that
Does not mean they are a tribalist party.

      Thanks

      (BB 2014)

    • @Mushota my darling you have disappointed me,of all people to start talking about tribalism.Remember you and I we were the first to condemn people who were passing racist remarks on Scott.I thought UK can remove bufontini in your head.In this modern Zambia you are talking of tribalism bla bla.Zambians are inter marrying so you cant insult one person like HH belonging only to Tongas .HH has nephews,Nieces ,sisters in law and brothers in law who are Bemba.I they also *****s?Lets use our education wisely.Fimo kushilako a ba kumunshi. Its one Zambia one nation sweetie.

    • 1.5 Sido Mark – As much as I agree with your condemnation of Mushota, I think you should condemn Wanzelu as well for his wild claims of PF tribalism viz:
      98% cabinet Bembas
90% foreign service Bembas and family forest.
95% head of government departments Bembas and family forest.

Sata appointed his family and friends not Bembas per se. We know people have agendas but they should not become off putting.

    • Spot on madam.People on the Copper-belt (Luanshya ) have not forgotten, they are jobless because your leader did not think of thousands of families to be affected ,when he acted as a liquidator. Our wounds are still fresh.Come January one will cry.Are you not wondering why the international community has not supported you candidate?
Wait next week you will face a great challenge.I leave in the Western world. It’s the power of numbers.

    • The constitution before the 2016 election is a realistic promise. The constitution solves 70% of Zambia’s problems. The remaining 30% is just building on the framework that the constitution has set up already. With a people driven constitution, corruption is low because the powers of the president are reduced. Under this it is easy to impeach a president and party in government and so the government works to impress the masses in office with little politicking. And this is what the PF has been denying us and will continue denying us.

    • @Robin

HH is the most realistic politician Zambia has at the moment. People like you are criticising him because you are afraid of losing your jobs and busy misrepresenting his message to suit your f00lishness.

What HH said is that he will NOT remove street vendors without finding an alternative affordable market place for them to do their business.

Now contrast his message to Sata ‘s who promised to clean Lusaka and remove all street vendors but failed dismally. Who is more realistic, between HH and Sata.

Robin, if you believe in lying as a means of making your living, you will never achieve greater things in life and hold on to them, because each time your lie is discovered, everything crumbles on you and you loose everything.

HH is the man of the moment.

    • Robin don’t quote HH wrongly even wanzelu correct what was reported on LT. Those who were present at the rally heard what HH said on the issue of street vending. He said he will not chase the street venders before he finds them an alternative place. He promised to build them modern Markets and only then will he move them out of the streets. He even promised them to give them soft loans to boost there business. He did not put a time frame like 90 days.to me this is attainable.so my dear robin this explanation should help correct the misconception .

    • Wanzelu and sido

You two are pathological liers, HH was talking to street vendors out side Lusaka city market ,the biggest market in Zambia and its empty because everyone is outside and he urged them to stay on the streets !
So which alternative market is he going to find for them ?
He said and i quote ” kulibe azamichosani mu street” you are the naive and gullible ones.
Just because he pays your school fees does not mean you give him your soul.

    • When guy Scot said we cant take street vendors out until we find better jobs for them.. a lunatic called wanzelu was here spilling an encyclopedia of nonsense.. now I heard him yesterday defending HH

    • HH is not a leader period. Dr.Nevers is even better. But our leader is about to emerge soon.
And you call him an Economical genius. He has failed us to tell us how he will find the money. In United Kingdom we are told point blank how political parties will find money. Some from Mansion Taxes others through cuts.

  2. He had young hH in mind. So far he is the only one who has been loud mouthed. Sayings he knows are un attainable. I think even Lusaka Times is a UPND mouth piece. He must watch his steps and learn from seasond politicians like RB and Scot and watch his steps

    • HH is actually a disgrace and has no principles. How can he accept saw dust like William Banda a well known political terrorist leader? If he can be so liberal, then no normal person should buy his little ultimatums from unprincipled young HH

    • THIS MAN HH WANTS TO BE IN STATE HOUSE AT ALL COST. LEADERS LIKE HIM ARE NOT THERE TO SERVE TO AMASS WEALTH FOR HIMSELF.

  3. You mean like more money in your pockets, 90 days delivery of the constitution, more jobs, rule based on the ten Godily commandments? Yes, The Suspended Party, Sata´s PF leftovers can´t lie anymore. HH has been consistent so we all know who you mean when you say no more lies.

  4. Hired NGO’s are at it again.I heard one pastor trying to attack HH and also a tribal union leader. If a wage freeze which was imposed by politicians is not a political issue, what is it then.ZCTU be serious.

  5. Desperation in the HH grouping is unbelievable indeed.Fake promises, endorsements from rejects and the list goes on.But hey, they say desperate times calls for desperate measures, but it is also true that desperation is like stealing from the Mafia, you stand a good chance of attracting wrong attention.

  6. @opreation owl HH has not been consistent. He is a chameleon in human fresh. As I said else where, HH swallowed his words on alshabab leader William Banda. Do u call that consistency? HH has even allowed chief electoral thief VJ to sing his praises. He said ugly words about him in the past.I see no consistency in that. He is a lier too.

    • @the other side.

Try to connect the dots in a right way before stereotyping some body.
Willian Banda has not been arrested for any violent conduct. PF framed him and it was discovered that its actually PF who instigated the attack on him. The courts controlled by PF cleared him. So who are to paint him black when PF courts tried their hardest to throw him in jail.

What has William Banda done compared to PF cadres who have hacked and killed fellow cadres but still roaming the streets free to attack again.

  7. Good advice but the world over – no one takes it. Tis the nature of the game. Competitive nature of elections means they will not be able to help themselves even if they know better – the words will just slip out… Expect promises galore.

Deep inside at the moment they say it – they mean it with all their hearts – and then that phone call comes – the one that turns all leaders’ hair grey…

Promise away… cynical me likes the entertainment… hard working me is prepared to work for the next generation regardless of politicians and their promises… we are the new frontier… expect anything… Zambia will only advance because we Zambians make it so.

    • @Marcos

People like you can never develop with such mentality of thinking “its impossible” You should know that the only thing that is impossible is the word impossible itself. Try to avoid this kind of pessimism.

Germany and Scotland are delivering on free education out of political will. Where there is a will there is always a way.

At the moment you will be shocked to know that over 300 children of PF government officials are studying on government sponsorship in the UK, US ,Malaysia ,Australia etc. Government is spending over £5.7 million on these students per year.

I have no doubt that HH will deliver on this one by restricting, government sponsorship only to post graduate students studying abroad and use the money saved to fund students studying locally.

    • @Marcos

To expose your pessimism further, I would also say, Zambia afforded free education a decade after Independence at the time when Zambia far poorer than it is today.

PF is failing to sponsor students because of greed and rampant theft of government funds.

If PF had avoided those expensive good for nothing Bye elections which cost it billions, it could have managed to sponsor every student in local universities. Sme money could have come from saving its making out subsidy removal.

All HH’s pledges are deliverable, and us in UPND will always guide him on to achieve good results on some of those pledges.

  8. I don’t care how unrealistic their promises are. It’s the unethical, illgal, immoral bribing of delegates and the electorate that I’m worried about.

Toothless tiger, your name is ECZ.

  9. HH unrealistic promises

    No GRZ borrowing
    Reduce fuel prices to K5/litre
Reduce Mealie Meal prices to K30 per 25kg at the same time, increase maize price to K100 per bag
    Retain all street vendors
    Increase minimum wage to K5000
    End Tribalism
Get rid of cadres in their forms
Free education from primary to University

    Communism at its best

    • @Ichintucintumwene

You are a numbskull. Please read my comments above to gain an insight how HH ‘s electoral pledges will possible to deliver.

If you have further questions on HH’s pledges direct them to me, I will educate you immensely.

PF cadres are running scared of HH. You know he is the man of the moment.

Whether you hung yourself or not, HH will be president in 2015.

    • HH and the upnd are not desperate to get to plot one. few days after sata died some pf mps went to guy scott to present lungu as their presidential candidate . is that not desperation? failing to even wait for the burial of the late. people lets look at what is happening on the ground.

  10. Where ever there is corruption VJ is presen just imagin he has jumped high to endose HH funny indeed , he is the one who ran away from Mwanawasa and said he has retired from politicks ; now during the the Sata govt he went under ground , now that the corrupt HH is , he is up again in politicks i smell terrible corruption in HH camp even Banda is back zambia be ware of what this guy stands for

  11. Okey lets call a spade a spade .What edgar Lungu promised the Zambians that you should be saying Lungu is a better candidate.Lungu cleary is being used by some Bembas to hide there faces from being labled by Membe that they are tribal. They know clear that Lungu is weak and a health risk. He has a criminal record we shall see how the he file his nomination at supreme court. He is record having collapsed at state house due to diabetis .He even admitted that he has a Kidney problem. Dont you think this the reason the so called Bemba clique need him ,because they know he will die soon. This strategy was used by Chiluba who knew that Mwanawasa was supposed to by 2002.Its only God who made Mwanawasa reach 2008.Pliz twapapata we don’t want another state funeral.

  12. Free education from grade one to twelve? Come on be serious. Even developed countries do not offer free university education.

  13. Education can still be provided free if the president and his team are competent. Just because these Bembas in power have failed miserably doesn’t mean other aspiring leaders are equally dull. We are only 13-million and GDP per capita is $1,200. The problem is that PF has been stealing too much and have no clue about resource management. We have only 3 Universities, how can the government fail to fund less than 10,000 students? Most primary and secondary schools nowadays are day-schools, so in fact the government will not need to spend a lot more than they are already spending. PF failed because of natural dullness and incompetence: they kicked out everybody with brains and left only themselves who can’t even add 1+1….the only talent they have is stealing.
