The Police Command in Muchinga Province has launched a vigorous election sensitisation campaign to ensure that there is peace before, during the campaigns and after the forthcoming presidential by-election.

In an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Chinsali today Muchinga Deputy Police Commissioner, Bonny Kapeso, said police expect all political parties that will take part in the presidential by-election scheduled for January 20, 2015 to conduct their campaigns peacefully.

Mr Kapeso said the sensitisation campaign will cover all the seven districts in the province, adding that community radio stations will also be involved in the campaign.

Meanwhile, police say they expect total peace during a public rally for the embattled Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) leader, Nevers Mumba, who is expected in Chinsali tomorrow to launch his January 20, 2015 presidential by-election campaign.

Mr Kapeso said t Dr Mumba is expected to hold a public rally at the President’s Park at 14:00 hours.

He said police expect the rally of Dr Mumba to be peaceful, adding that police have been put on high alert to ensure that anybody disrupting peace during campaigns for the forthcoming presidential by – election is dealt with firmly and accordingly.

The MMD recently announced the suspension of party president, Nevers Mumba, for alleged gross indiscipline.

The party also announced the adoption of former Republican President, Rupiah Banda, as its preferred candidate in the forthcoming presidential by-election scheduled for January 20, 2015.

But Dr Mumba, who has since secured a court injunction, insists that he is the rightful candidate to contest the election on MMD ticket.

The other camp of the opposition MMD has since nominated former President, Rupiah Banda, to stand on its ticket.

The opposition political party in Chinsali says it is ready to receive Dr Mumba in tomorrow.

In a press statement signed by Provincial Publicity Secretary, Felix Nongo and District Chairman, Lazarous Mwila, the MMD in the area wants Dr Mumba to launch his January 20, 2015 presidential campaign from Chinsali.

  1. Is Nevers for real? His colleagues in MMD are quitting en mass and joining the HH groovy train and he is still dreaming of being an MMD candidate come January 20th? who will campaign for him as his friends are saying they will campaign for HH and the remnants will campaign for RB. Noone can feel sorry of this stupidity. Please wake up Nevers and smell the coffee, the train has left the station.

    • And the question is….since MMD has issued the certificate of ‘sea worthiness’ aka adoption/sponsorship to RB, can they do a double tobela and issue another one to the erstwhile man of the cloth?

ki ki ki ki ki ki…………………………awe ba Mumba, you are standing on sinking sand…..please am just advising you as a neutral compatriot.

Anyway lets see tomorrow how many mps and nec members will be by your side supporting your launch as they did ofr alabee!

    • It’s NOT OVER,untill God says it’s over.Dr Mumba be strong and see the salvation of God.The strength of God does not depend on popularity, money or endorsements. Some trust in the arm of flesh, but we trust in Jehovah God.Just wait and see what God is able to do.

    • Ba Nevers is a laughable comedian. He has no Secretary General to issue the admissible Doctrine of party or certificate of adoption to the returning officer at nomination day. has He no base, no NEC, logistics, resources, manifesto, agenda or campaign team. This is what happens if you are blackmailed with funds from foreign sources. The 2.5 million Zambian Kwacha as first disbursement may just turn out to much to payback considering that much of it has already been given out to useless cadres.

Now neither HH nor RB will think twice about Nevers. I guess their parties take him to be unnecessary garbage without political dividends. However, since politics has turnout a rock for ba brother, its time to revert and revive “Zambia Shall Be Saved” or NCC.

    • @The Priest-i agree. The Zambians shall witness what God will do.God uses the despised to His own Glory. So that man can not boast that through his own ability he has made it.

    • God hates wickedness. What old Rupiah and Team have done is wicked. And shall punish them, they won’t go scort free, you shall see.Dr Mumba is the rightful Candidate and God honours this.Dr Mumba shall definately stand. The Courts shall speak for him.-God is our Law Giver(Parliament),God is our Judge(Judiciary),God is our King(Executive). He shall. Save us-Isaiah 33:22.God will definately save Dr Mumba from that immoral and wicked act by Rupiah,Muhabi and Team.

  2. Campaign 04 – the mystery ticket. Just don’t mention benefits. RB has already staked claim.

This is like mythology. A body with two heads…

  3. Yes NOBODY should disrupt Mumba’s campaigns. We want the country to retain to respect for individual freedoms and freedom of association and assembly that had been robbed by institutionalized thuggery and marginalization.

  4. Our beloved servant of the Most High God, please just quit MMD and come back home to PF. You are bonafide citizen of Zambia and qualified to enjoy all rights provided naturally by birth and guaranteed by the constitution of Zambia.

  5. Oh, go ahead! No use stopping Mumba. He is too shell shocked to realise the comedy he has turned out to be!

At least it will provide hi with some form of Therapy. Somewhere into the elections he will wake up and accept his plight. He will go on to harbour hatred to RB until the end.

Every time anyone mentions RB, He will stutter, mumble
And fall down foaming at the mouth.

Bless him really. May he come to Christ’s’ good advice: ‘If the world hated me, so it will you.’

  6. Too bad for Dr Mumba though I do not know what makes him deserve all that against him in the party. Something should be terribly wrong,.

  7. Rupiah is an *****. Even if he were to win, he will only be allowed to govern for 1 year. Then he be barred from standing in 2016. He could have supported Mumba and when Mumba loses in by elections, he could’ve then legally challenged Mumba after the elections in 2015 then reorganize the party for 2016 which he could then lead and have better chances of winning. But he has destroyed MMD and now this is between HH and PF. If Mumba is wise, he can just start talking to HH and ask for a position from HH if he helps HH win Northern and Luapula. Rupiah will carry Eastern province but HH can win the province or do well if he’s we’re to give top positions to well known Easteners. You must calculate!

  8. Let C be the set of all Zambian political comedians. C = {Goddfrey Miyanda, RB, Cosmo Mumba, Nevers Mumba, Elias Chipimo, Nason Msoni, Mike Mulongoti, … }. Elias Chipimo said at his launch today that his cadres should not mind the crouds or money of opponents. But if your rallies are not well attended, who are you going to convince to vote for you? Nevers Mumba could have added more credibility if he just endorsed HH. Launching his campaign when he is probably the weakest candidate in this election made me add him to set C.

  9. Be still and know that I’m The Lord.I will be exalted in the heavens and I will be exalted in the earth.Nevers Mumba God is with you.Be strong and courageous

  10. Though am no nevers mumba’s cadre, I believe he’s the right candidate for the mmd because he’s the legitimate party president.it’s unfortunate that he’s being betrayed by his colleagues in mmd.I pray God intervenes on his behalf.
