Minister of Defence Edgar Lungu has said Zambia was committed to respecting the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
Mr. Lungu said the country’s defence force was solely for the purpose of national defence and that Zambia rejoices in seeing other countries live in peace and harmony.
He has however said it was government’s desire to continue cooperating with other countries in its efforts to develop and secure peace in the region and the entire African continent.
Mr. Lungu further said government will continue to actively participate in all endeavours that support peace through meetings and contribution of troops for peacekeeping.
He said this in Lusaka yesterday during the seventeenth Defence Services Command and Staff Course graduation ceremony.
A total of 66 students from Zambia, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Rwanda, and Tanzania graduated in defense and security studies.
And Mr. Lungu praised the graduands for standing out to the challenges of the training programme and urged them to put to good use the knowledge they have acquired.
Earlier, Defence Services Command and Staff College Commandant Henry Nyundu called on government to consider constructing a new staff college to carter for the rising number of students.
Brig Gen. Nyundu said a new staff college with appropriate infrastructure and adequate facilities would be required considering that the current college has fulfilled all the requirements of the academic calendar.
He however praised government through the Ministry of Defence for its timely interventions which he said have resulted in the smooth running of the training programmes.

People worldwide are promoting peace, here the likes of PF have sowed divisions. Tribalism in Zambia needs major attention, otherwise, it will bring about insecurities.

There was no shushushu involved prior to Lungu’s appointment. Lungu was appointed to safeguard the interests of Sata who was still legally married to Lungu’s maternal aunt (Mulenga Sata’s mother). The real shushushu report is out! Lungu’s so called ONLY surviving relative living in Zambia revealed to the Shushushu. If Lungu wins the PF race he will be barred at nomination meaning the second runnerup will stand. I hope Kaseba presents this damaging material to the PF delegates today.
My prediction is that Lungu won’t go beyond PF president. A splinter group from PF once formed as an inclusive political party will win 2016 election as it will have a massive support including those from the aggrieved MMD.
