The Zambia National Women’s Lobby has encouraged former First Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba not to bury her vision for Zambia following her failure to win the presidency of the Patriotic Front during the General Conference held in Kabwe.

Chairperson Beauty Katebe has told QFM News in an interview that the former First Lady should not be demoralized but soldier on in her political career.

Ms Katebe says Dr Kaseba should take a leaf from her late husband who never gave up despite losing a number of elections in his quest to rule the country.

She says the women movement will continue to encourage the former first lady in her political career stating that she has a vision to help transform the nation.

Ms Phiri states that even in politics, there are ups and downs and that Dr Kaseba should not feel discouraged following the results of the PF General Conference.

    • Now how will she reconcile with Mumbi Phiri, Jean Kapata and other female bigwigs who called her hule or who kept singing mukanfwilwa in Kabwe? This is a lesson to women not to demonize each other to irreconcilable levels. Shame!

    • I agree. I am not sure which women are encouraging her but honestly speaking starting a political career two weeks after you bury your husband is not in order. She should have stayed away from all this noise. She is still young and energetic, she can do anything she wants in life but surely she just couldn’t wait even for a month? I wonder where we are going and if our mother Kaseba can behave like this and fellow elders can encourage her, what will they teach us?

    • She feared to go to the venue and sent a small boy to read her speech. soldier on to where? .Let the black widow take seat

    • This woman is a disgrace and I have no kind words for her.
She lied to the nation about her husbands health and was smiling all the way to New York receiving pointless awards while the Husband was lying in a vegitative state in a hotel and being attended to by Dr’s. One can forgive for that, but how do you forgive when barely a week after the burial of her husband and father of her Children she has jumped into the political wrangles of succession?
Add to that her lies about her husband “trusting” Guy Scott to lead the Party in his absence…that only to ensure that she can go to the convention and put her name forward.
      Shame, shame shame

    • This is a person much more intelligent than Edgar Lungu, Jean Kapata and them combined.
One of the persons to abuse Dr Kaseba was Maureen Mwanawasa. What is mourning that Maureen can claim to mourn for six years..????
We fail to make a difference between intellectuals like Dr Kaseba, Simuusa, Sampa and noise makers like Edgar Lungu, Jean Kapata, Willie Sanda etc consequently we end up with low caliber leadership. God help us..

    • Laughable that” ubucala bwabumi” which failed to save our president is no longer in operation. Was it being used to steal public funds?

  1. Iwe Katebe, honestly you are encouraging your evil friend to continue with her misdeeds?? Whats wrong with some you women – you will be the one laughing at Kaseba loudest, shortly. Naiwe Kaseba, take the funeral kwa Chitulika, abaloshi balolela banaka !! Don’t continue being obstinate as twala ku cinjisha amano, we cinkula we.

    • Why ?? She is now a politician ! She was warned to stay away. Stop this sympathy for the devil altitude. You should have warned/ advised her to behave in a sombre manner. What would you have said if she had won the election??

  2. @knox…just because Beauty Katebe has supported the first lady does not mean it is right. If anything Beauty Katebe should release a statement signed by the znwl so that we can see she is speaking for everyone and not just looking for another job. Mumbi Phiri and Jean Kapata loved the late President that’s why they voiced their opinion. Most married women know that your husband and father of your children is an extension of your soul, so there is no way, a normal woman of sound mind, would stand for party elections after one week of burying a husband. This is why you find that even when women are divorced and the ex- husband passes on, they have genuine emotion and cry. Kaseba is an embarrassment and I dont know what lesson she has passed on to her daughters. Shi Nono Jnr beware…

    • Any person must move on with life after their spouse has been put to rest, only witchcraft prevents them…
Even if one was to remarry on the way from the grave yard the Bible has nothing against that.
I now see how terribly superstitious this society is. One of the qualifications Edgar Lungu has is because he was acting president when Sata passed on, purely superstition.

  3. Is Katebe married? Kaseba stopped mourning her husband the day she decided to go into politics. She messed up and no amount of damage control will wash this one away. What she did id is taboo. To achieve what in the end. She is well advised to pick up an international appointment and leave the country. The clan did not understand that the people of Zambia only tolarated the late and did not wish for the continuation of the same by his clan. Truth be told (MHSRIP), the the man was not a leader, but a burly who became a ruler!

    • The clan? Telling Dr. Kaseba to leave the country is a violation of her human rights. In your deep rooted hatred you have even ceased engaging in logical thought.

  4. To level the playing field, (this has nothing to do with being mean) she must leave State House and occupy the house that her husband has built at State Lodge ahead of presidents before him. This is a model black widow alright!

    • Add the K1.5bn (before rebasing) she was given by the government to run the First Lady Office (God knows what that entailed). Sata and this woman were greedy, full stop.

  5. The hatred being expressed here is totally wicked. And who says politics is about insulting another person? Dr. Kaseba has not insulted anyone and issues around how she is mourning her late husband should not be a public affair. Grieving is a personal experience and for any Jim and Jack to talk about. Dr. Kaseba has not embarrassed herself in any way and if she has, why are you so concerned about it. Get a life and deal with the source of anger in your sub-conscious. Dr. Kaseba will come out of this a much stronger, resilient person. As for you . . . I wonder what will become of you.

    • Jn case you don’t know — what Kaseba has done is what is wickenedness and heartlessness of great proportions. We may have to invite Mpombo to describe it in one word. Very inhumane behaviour= Animal behaviour. Crap will always be crap unless to you paid morons

    • I am concerned because she is/was in public office as a first lady/former first lady. Therefore if you occupy public office, you are a role model and all eyes are on you. And guess what it also means you are accountable to the public, this includes your behavior. Have you ever heard that ministers, MP’s and those in high public offices resign for telling a lie/s. This happens in most developed countries where holding a public office means you accountable for your actions be it in private or in public. That is just the name of the game, and if the rules of this game are followed, people holding offices will have a moral responsibility for doing the right thing. The woman is embarrassed and an embarrassment. Lets all learn a lesson from this.

    • Hannah

She won’t. People will remember her support of a power heist in favour of her family name.

They have ruined themselves by greed to the point where rioters could have caused damage and loss of life. It is she and her group who are callous and greedy beyond all measure.

I hope she has been removed out of State House by now.

  6. I am not reading the message , just watching ka ” tobumtwe” next to Kaseba in this picture. Apapena ni “one Zambia one Nation” Ebusuma ubuleta echalo pamo.

Let’s stop fighting and vote for the best candidate HH ofcourse

  7. I think the correct advice to Dr Kaseba is that she should continue with her noble medical profession. The quantum jump to becoming president was far fetched.

  8. If Katebe wants to support women, why leave out our respectable politicians like, Luo, Wina, Kapata who have been spectacular in the last weeks.

They carried the burden of PF’s fight with Scott. They ensured that power went to a credible representative and fought to uphold the laws of our country.

Those names should be on every ones lips. They pulled a spectacular political and legal feat against a bunch of men. Young women should be encouraged to emulate them not Kaseba.

Kaseba has nothing to offer the political field. She did not even attend the convention properly.

There should be a united call to ask Scott to step down forthwith. In Scotland recently when Devolution did not go through, the Premier stepped down immediately on defeat. Scott should show some dignity.

    • We want the state to honour these women. Wina, Luo, Kapata, and others that stood up.

I hope they are having a little champagne with their herb teas in celebration. They must all need a little rest, before running off to the provinces to start a late campaign.

Well done. True and valiant women of high office. We highly commend you. LT arrange sponsorship for statues, We want them honoured!

  9. Do people know the difference between a prostitute and a gold digger? Prostitution is a fair trade occupation i.e. give me this and I’ll do that for you so everyone knows what is expected and therefore it is fair deal. Prostitutes are what I consider clever capitalists bc they are honest about what they want and expect so it is quid pro quo at its finest. Gold digging on the other hand is someone pretending to have feelings for someone when they don’t and lying to theat person for the purpose of taking advantage of them. In other words gold diggers are trash, duplicitous and deceitful. I leave it to you readers to decide where to place Kaseba in this case who can attempt to mount a presidential campaign two weeks after demise of her husband.

  10. If Dr. Kaseba would like to continue with politics I would advise her to take a step back from the public arena, remobilize underground and do some re-branding. She has a much bigger CV than the label she is running on now. Its not a lost cause but it calls for tact and strategy, and taking the views of the masses seriously.
