Acting President Guy Scott has remained non-committal on joining the Patriotic Front’s campaign trail which got off the ground with a mammoth rally in Kitwe on Saturday.
Dr Scott, who is also PF vice-president and Lusaka Central MP, could not commit himself to joining Mr Lungu campaigns, saying the country “should wait and see”.
“I am not travelling to Mansa today to attend the campaign, but for future campaigns, we will have to wait and see,” Dr Scott said in an interview.
On Friday, Dr Scott said that United Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema will soon feel the “heat” of the Patriotic Front (PF) in campaigns for the January 20, 2015 presidential election.
In an interview with ZNBC, Dr. Scott said that Mr Hichilema’s days of criss crossing the country were fast coming to an end as the PF will kick off their vigorous campaigns nationwide.
“We are coming like rampaging horses and will overrun the UPND. The tours Hichilema is making across the country will now be meaningless because the PF machinery has kicked into high gear and will retain power.” Dr Scott said.
“Mr Hichilema thinks he is the only one running but we will very soon put him where he belongs at about 20 percent in terms of being popular by the electorates,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kasama member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba says he is ready to join Patriotic Front (PF) president Edgar Lungu’s campaign for the January 20 presidential election if invited.
Mr Mwamba, popularly known as GBM, said from Kabwe yesterday that he is willing to be part of the campaign trail if invited.
He said he has not been part of Mr Lungu’s campaign because he has not been invited.
“I am not part of the campaign team for our president because I was not invited but I am willing to be part of the team if am invited,” he said.
But Bahati MP Harry Kalaba, who is also Minister of Foreign Affairs, has invited Mr Mwamba to be part of the team.
He said yesterday that Mr Mwamba is a political “heavyweight” in the PF, who should join Mr Lungu’s campaign team to enable the ruling party win the January 20 presidential election.
“Mr Mwamba has contributed effectively to this great party and we need him and I am also inviting other party members who are not part of the campaign team to come on board so that we can win the forthcoming presidential poll,” Mr Kalaba said.
He urged members to work hard by recruiting new members ahead of the presidential election.
Mr Kalaba also said he is happy with the support the PF is receiving from the people of Luapula Province as can be exhibited by the thunderous welcome that Mr Lungu and his team received in Mansa yesterday.
“The party in Luapula Province is very strong and intact. I am also very happy that president Lungu was given a thunderous welcome today when he came here to campaign,” he said.
Mr Kalaba urged all well-meaning Zambians to vote for Mr Lungu to help foster development in the country.
Mr Kalaba said late President Sata left many development projects which need to be completed on time.

If Lungu wins, it will be such a shame and a difficult thing to swallow for some us because we have seen what kind of madness the P.F are capable of. That firing and swearing in while the dollar is in free fall and mealie meal prices are sky rocketing is not something I want to see again. Old man Guy Scott is wise and smart. The EL campaign is an accident that is about to happen. For Lungu the terrain is brutal. It is not like anything he has ever been into before. His physical health is already at a breaking point, and yet the race has not even begun!
How easy it is to do all the yapping! It is the doing that is more troublesome. For EL, it is ON-THE-JOB TRAINING all the way through. It is like learning how to dance on the center stage, while everyone is starring at you!
At the party level, his colleagues had pushed for him to go in unopposed because they knew just how fragile he is. Already his, his campaign is growing thin for lack of support. Some, even within his own party are giving him a cold shoulder – not too good sign.

With all due respect, can some one from the UPND tell me what has suddenly changed for them to be so confident that their candidate will win the presidential election? I have asked this question because we have seen this kind of confidence before and UPND only managed to garner 518,251 and ended up in 3rd position. I remember Mr. Hakainde on one radio phoenix let the people talk program telling us that he was just coming from Luanshya and that there was no PF on the copperbelt. But after the election in September 2011 PF won as if there was no UPND. Where is this fake confidence coming from?

Let this be a lesson in history for Zambians. Don’t think foreign people can help you for your sake only. They pretend help to craftily get their hands on our resources. It’s a repeat of the colonial era. They have not changed at all!
@ figo, I hear your sentiments and quite frankly, you are right. However, the fact that most bloggers are not ordinary Zambians walking the streets of Zambia, you’ll be safer to take most of what you read with a pinch of salt because such bloggers thou using Tonga names are not even Tongas at all. 99.99% of bloggers are the few educated Zambians as can be seen by the foreign countries they reside in. Those purporting to be Tongas and UPND with vile language are actually the enemies of UPND. And what you are saying is exactly their mission, so be careful and just disregard them.
