The Lusaka High Court has issued contempt charges against suspended PF Chairperson for Elections Sylvia Masebo and Matero MP Miles Sampa who have been cited for contempt for conducting an illegal General Conference and despite an express Court Order and Injunction not to do so.

According to court papers seen this afternoon, other PF officials facing similar charges are former Secretary General Bridget Attanga, her Deputy Anthony Kasolo and Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe who acted as Chairperson of the Conference and returning officer Germano Kaulongombe.

The five are expected to appear before Judge Mungeni Mulenga to show cause why they should not be sent to prison.

    • Just when you think they have realised that the hole has been dug deeper they acquire excavators and some explosive to even dig it deeper …amazing

    • There is a bias here. Why only these… why not Kambwili and other candidates. The answer lies in the fact that this Judge is compromised and is overreaching. She needs to be delt with. This has gone too far. I understand why Guy scott could not be prosecuted, but why not the other presidential candidates. This is the work of Lungu. Where is Judge Chikopa and why is UPND not taking advantage of that issue. Judge chikopo that is fair game in this election.

    • Uko wamona nomba Sampa? I told you to stop this fight with courts because you are not going to win.

Just apologise and either go back and support Lungu, or form your own party.

      Nkhani zalula.

      Wapya munzi.

    • Sampa and camp are undermining the Judge ‘s reputation and bringing it into question. So she has decided to show them who is boss.

The whole case hinges on which camp between the Sampa and Lungu has legitimacy of authority in PF.

Sampa should have started with the case of legimacy, before embarking on the credibility of the conference.

For sure Mrs Wina was not replaced by Scott and as such she had the legitimacy to go ahead and conduct the general conference in the absence of the acting president.

    • These Kangaroo courts and Judges should focus on more important cases involving ordinary Zambians. If only they were this quick in dispensing Justice to all Zambians instead of focusing their energies only on their political masters. Elo what crimes have the said persons committed? Should they really go to jail for a misdemeanour? This is what will happen when PF are re elected nothing but a police state with the freedoms of ordinary Zambians restricted.

    • All this nonsense is Guy Scott’s doing..what an own goal Bwana Scott has scored now he has put his lackeys in a fix…sad, sad, sad!!!

      *****VIVA EDGAR LUNGU 2015****

    • Zambian judiciary is rotten. Only in Zambia can you have a High Court confessing that one of the persons involved in case she is handling is her relative, and yet the judgment by the same judge stands. This 2014 and such things are rampant in Zambia. Its really a shame.

These are the things that make one think twice going back to Zambia.

    • There is no need to show these people’s address , a bit of privacy

Who wanted to know that Miles sampa lives at no 41 Kudu road?
I distance away from this article

      Thanks
      BB2014

    • Jail the treasonous trio!!

Zambia has many challenges right now and Peace is the only thing that holds it together. Sampa and his cronies want to disturb Zambia’s Peace for their own gain.

    • Hmmmmm the bricklayer. The judge has decided on law and made a her decision against a fellow tribesmate. Lets not become El cheapo here. The country Zambia belongs to all the tribes domiciled there.

  1. Why only these… why not Kambwili and other candidates. The answer lies in the fact that this Judge is compromised and is overreaching. She needs to be delt with. This has gone too far.

    • Kambwili and the others foresaw the contempt of court creeping behind them and quickly distanced them selves from the whole criminality that took place at the conference in writing.

    • Kambwili withdrew from the race and publicly announced that he would not take part in both the 1st and second conference.

  2. The twists and turns of this melodramatic saga in Zambia today is almost addictive. I find myself running to LT every morning to get my daily dose

  3. Congratulations.scott will join his fellows after 20th Jan,2015.power hungry sampa, don’t fight to be a leader in prison becoz there big leaders in jail

  4. What? Is there need to cause unnecesary unrest when the ppolitical parties are beginning to mend and country is moving on?

Why did you not lock them up when it proceedings were on?

  5. The law is the law, let it take it’s course otherwise the Judiciary will be seen as a sham in Zambia. No favoritism please. These dunderheads dug their own grave without thinking about the law. A crime was committed now let’s see how credible our court systems are.

  6. Sampa has a vision and it wont die. Just endure Hon. Sampa, you pragmatic and visionary leadership will never be taken way from you and given to the empty vessel.

  7. In politics a good day for bad news always makes me look around to see what I am actually being distracted from watching…

  8. Have you just jumped off the bus. Kambwili has joined the Edgar Lungu team, how can he cited for contempt? Pa Zed you have to know how to play it. Us with HH, we don’t have such nonsense, it is discipline and the in coming leader has emphasized on discipline. You will not see pangas with us. Lets learn to live together in harmony and love as Zambians, that is what HH is preaching-love for one another

    • I like your day dreaming. Nolulenda kukanwa, wake up and open your eyes iwe. HH will never taste state house in Zambia, maybe on Zambian watchdog.

  9. Wow – not sure if it is the law that is just or it is the opportunist dealing a death blow when the opponent is down. All things, however, are for a season. If the electorate are alive to this nonsense, they will act accordingly. Alas, however, if the action will be in keeping with disgust.

  10. Failure to follow or overlook the court order can cost you. Some of these politicians think they’re special they can do all they want. The Judge is right.

  11. corr…

    ????

Political Parties are trying to mend their cracks (however they are doing them) and the electorate are moving on as they listen to Presidential aspirants.

Why did you not lock them up when the proceedings were at the Conference? There was enough police presence then.

  12. These guys, they keep dragging fat boy GBM around. Aren’t they afraid the boy is going to keel over? I’m sure he has enough money to pay some kaponya to give him a piggyback ride

  13. This is very shamful zambians wake up this is happening before lungu becomes presindent ,what will happen when he becomes president worse than) rb

    • Why comment on issues you have very little or no understanding at all? Leave it to those in the know.
Can you give reasons why you think E. Lungu is at fault.

  14. No sacred cows in Zambia. Poor people are in prison for flimsy cases and why defend rich abrogators of the same law. Surprisingly it is mostly the poor that defend these rich persons, when them have nothing to do with the poor.

  15. The law is very clear on ignoring court injunctions. Whether or not we agree with the move the fact remains that Sampa and compnay should have obeyed the order and fought the issue in court as they are doing right now. It is very surprising that Sampa’s legal team did not anticipate this injunction from Lungu’s team and hence prepare to counter it

  16. It is of fundamental importance that those that seek to hold the high office of presidency need to uphold the constitution. The actions of these presons to ignore the court order fall well below what is expected of them, furthermore these persons need to be stripped off their parliamentary seats.

  17. THIS IS GOOD TO DETER WOULD BE OFFENDERS. OF COURT ORDERS.

LAW IS TRUE IF IT TREATS EVERYONE FAIRLY. GREAT JOB BA COURT EPASHILI PAKULEKA

  18. SO this is the new democracy in Zambia… Jail your competitor. This Lungu character is bad news. What I don’t understand is if the party manifesto calls for a conference how is a judge able to circumvent that and be dictating otherwise? Something smells like 10 days old cabbage water here.
Zambia is going to the dogs….
Don’t get me wrong, I am no supporter of Sampa because in my eyes both Sampa and Lungu are equally useless but we already know that Lungu is a thief and was involved with a young girl’s murder so that make him next to the devil. Not good!

    • Speaking good english and at the same time exposing your ignorance. This is contempt of court and not Lungu, if you have any evidence against lungu take him to court and stop hiding behind online media. It is very possible to trace you my friend.

    • Rasta what a misplaced observation.
I hope your username is just a borrowed one otherwise you are a total let down to the dread locked family.

  19. This compromised judiciary, this is the reason Lungu and camp should go to jail when HH takes over. What can be worse than this people, open you eyes and see what kind of people you still want to rule us. Wake up Zambia. Vote HH

  20. They should be locked up and only released after the elections. They have all grown too big for their boots. Munkombwe may not survive. They should also include Kambwili Amin, he’s such a bully and a trouble maker. You would be surprised how peaceful our country would be with these muppets locked away until January. Edgar could send them a crate is missing on Christmas Day and maybe stretch to some village chicken.

  21. The problem is that the Zambian judges are played like balls by politicians.
Can’t the judges just direct these PF faggots to go back to Mulungushi and agree as a family. May be we have too many women judges; we need to balance the bench!

  22. Of course they are being punished using PF laws, PF courts, PF judges. These laws were made by them. The actual Zambian laws would not have be so vindictive. Mr Munkombwe is to old now to start jail life. I have head several times that PF is a party of unity. Having seen how the party has behaved fro the last three years, I have found myself wondering the true definition of unity……

  23. LT this is an appeal to the UPND cadre who was recently employed by your blog to stop blocking my comments on these very important national matters. Give me back my freedom of speech, otherwise you should apply this nonsensical blocking uniformly, including against MMD and UPND opinions. Grow up ba UPND cadre.

  24. The judge may be in contempt herself because she is no longer fit for purpose due to conflict of interest (relative to EL). Sue this judge for human rights abuses for blocking your rights to freedom of expression, assembly and so on. With a clever and well versed solicitor, this biased judge can be guided in the right direction.

  25. lock em up.the all lot.this should save as an example to all politicians thinking they can break the law at will or play games with the courts of law.

  26. I’d want to hear Masebo yapping now. That woman is so arrogant with that loud mouth of hers. By the way, wasn’t an injunction filed against RB as well?

  27. I am shocked by ignorance of some bloggers. Defiance of any court order or injunction is contempt of court and therefore a prosecutable offence. Why don’t they just google the laws of Zambia on the ZAMLII website and read what is there? Surely is our reading culture so pathetically bad or should we politicize even straight forward matters?

    • Totally agree with you. I can’t come to terms with the fact that these bloggers have access to the internet yet so ignorant.

  28. This mayhem is Sata doing. Sampa betrayed Sata in siding with the infamous cartel. It’s precisely this challenge Lungu is facing in his campaign, he’s careful not to talk to much and lest risk contradicting his Godfather’s wish and vision. The people who are comparing his speeches to his competitors are mistaken. Lungu’s situation is exceedingly unique as oppose to HH and others .Lungu’s its continuation of President Sata which in essence is being driven by the cabinet and ABC as a pioneer.
Lungu’s favoured because of his level headedness and loyalty to Sata ( who, like Scott said he’s so loved and difficult to replaceand that’s the yardstick he should be measured

  29. This is clearly HH’s time. A technical knockout in the horizon. PF has demonstrared through its internal conduct it has been a fraud (read Post editorial Monday 8th). PF has indeed been a fraud all this time. Any normal human being with all the senses functoning would not be close to this party….No ownder its new leader does not know what he is there for.

  30. Zambian judiciary is rotten. Only in Zambia can you have a High Court confessing that one of the persons involved in case she is handling is her relative, and yet the judgment by the same judge stands. This 2014 and such things are rampant in Zambia. Its really a shame.

These are the things that make one think twice going back to Zambia.

  31. Sampa should just ignore that stupid Judge and start campaigning the judge has a conflict of interest as such all her decisions are Null and Void. Guy Scott should use his veto and presidential pardon power to show Vodka Lungu who is really boss. This Judge’s career is over.

Guy Scott should also issue and executive order making Sampa President of PF LOL although unconventional this order tramps any high court decision.

  32. It was almost a shame to see the former first lady Dr Kaseba misguided by the cartel using Scott. Dr Kaseba is a 21 century model first lady who has exceptionally done well for herself and the country. She does not need political party politics to function. She as Dr Kaseba is a brand of an international repute in short she’s stand alone.

    • What buulsh!t.

Kaseba is just another PF liar and thief stealing Zambian taxpayers money.

She has done nothing for Zambia. She duped the Nation about Satas health, and you, BIG KAS are too styupid to understand that and obviously still believe this rubbish!

Just like her late, she is just a cheap crook and fraud that got rich on L!ES.

  33. I CAN NEVER VOTE FOR A TONGA.THESE CHAPS WILL AUCTION THIS COUNTRY LIKE BINANI MINE GATE.

CAH HH EXPLAIN HIS ROLE AAS FREE MASON WHICH IS SATANIST CULT OF RICH WEALTHY PEOPLE.

NO WONDER FUNDS ARE FLOWING WHEN YOU SELL YOUR SOUL.

IS THIS MAN REALLY A CHRISTIAN OR A FAKE PROPHET.JESUS SAID THEY SHALL COME AND SAY IM AM THE ONE AND FOOL THE MULTITUDES.

    • @ kamuzi, 43

50 years of zambias independence I don’t expect you to utter tribal reasons for not voting for a credible leader. it is shear primitive and backward mentality. time to talk on tribal line are long gone. just debate with credibility and maturity. don’t show your frustration openly.
us who have been to school have been taught by many Tonga, Bemba, LOzi, Namwaanga teachers etc. hence we appreciate all what Zambia can offer. therefore we are ready to vote for HH for Zambia not a tribesmen to shame our beloved county.

  34. If justice were to be truly carried out in Zambia, they’d have to borrow the dormitories of several secondary schools in order to lock up crooked politicians.

  35. why the judge has gone back to the case where she recuse herself. God is watching you Judge Mulenga. everything has got time

  36. Mungeni Mulenga is up to no good. She wants to incite PF members to ukufilila munsenga. President Lungu has given amnesty to all PF members. We want to defeat the insignificant opposition parties with resounding victory and in unity. Mungeni Mulenga recused herself from the previous case, why is she eager now to proceed with this case. This is the same Mungeni Mulenga who has ruled against PF before. The Dora Siliya debacle is the case in point. Mungeni Mulenga is anti-PF. For the sake of unity and continuity of Late president Sata’s vision, withdraw the contempt case from Mungeni Mulenga’s court.

    • @Mubemba
How thick can you be. People have answered your question many times over but just bacause your thick skull can’t comprehend straight forward matters, you start accusing Judges of being up to no good. I shall explain to you one more time.
Judge Mulenga recused herself from the case that Miles Sampa sued Bridget Atanga and Edgar Lungu. This is because one of the people sued is her relation.
The other case in which Inonge Wina Sued the Secretary General of the PF (Bridget Atanga who was then replaced by Davis Chama) does not involve E.Lungu (I know you are lost here because Lungu was named President) but it was not him who sued and he was not sued so in Law they say – he’s not a party to the case and because of that, Judge Mulenga is qualified to hear the case.

    • @it’s a worry – Why spending your precious energy trying to teach someone with such a thick skull like Umubemba? He’s not the only one showing this level of ignorance here and it’s like trying to bang your head against the wall. Just let them wallow in their own ignorance.

  37. When pipo are in control of levers of government they think they are untouchable. Imagine the humiliation the court messenger went through at the Rock when he went to serve these *****s with a court order. They almost lynched him and tore the court order to pieces all in the presence of so called law enforcement officers. Out of the entire group one person I would love to see languish in prison is Munkombwe. That character is despicable and I hope after January he will be erased from the Zambian political scene. Sylvia has traditionally known to prostitute among various parties only that this time around she has sided with the wrong group. Good old Wynter saw the writing on the wall long before and decided to stay away from a cesspool of a convention which literally had no toilets.

  38. Only in Zambia where the Member of Parliament who represents a poor constituent in the same city and yet himself lives in a rich neighborhood. I am neighbors to my MP here. I could imagine what people would say if she lived in another constituency

  39. The Judiciary is upholding our legal systems that have been attacked and disparaged by a bunch of unruly politicians who are now so self regarding they consider themselves above the Law.

We thank The Honourable Judge Mungeni Mulenga, who we hope will ‘munga’ them and chuck them into a bottomless prison. Well done Ma’am.

The level of contempt was shocking and gave a terrible image of our country’s democratic processes.

Personally, I can see no cause that can be given to explain the level of contempt, that would effectively prevent them from Jail. Especially Sampa who insists that process was legal and now is ‘taking the gov’t, the judiciary down,’ with his vexatious complaints.

    • I am sitting in a restaurant on Kings Road Chelsea, The Stockpot (the poor peoples restaurant, I hasten to add), and enjoying my pasta better!

I am so happy those guys are about to get their come uppance! Zambia will be safer with these people in jail!

  40. I see now why Kaulung’ombe was panicking trying to launder himself after conference was already over. As a lawyer and the presiding officer for the conference, he should have been the first to advise the conference to respect the court order & stop the proceedings immediately. From what I know of this guy, I wonder how any serious political party could hire such a fellow.

  41. …..these summons are going nowhere……these learned guys just want to divert at the same time brew attention….
Kaulung’ombe had clarified that the injunction was to bar anyone else other than Edgar to be declared PF president…and that’s why Kaulung’ombe never declared Sampa as duly elected PF president….he only announced the results….the injunction did not bar anyone from wasting their time or doing a mock election…..

…so what is this fuss about…??

  42. That is why we say Bembas are very dangerous to the unity of this country. To them this is fun, but 2 or 5 years from now, they will be running themselves if they are not careful. Civil war doesn’t need a lot of s.h.i.t. to happen. What we have now is judge Chibesakunda n.y.o.k.o. who is supposed to retired causing trouble with her whatever Pro Luo just because they don’t want Chanda Sosala to be Chitimukulu. That is all what is happening right now. Okay. Bambuli pitilisheni. History will very soon catch up with you. Ba SATA f.u.c.k.e.d up and it is so sad that his name is coming up in this way. Edagr Lungu no chance now. We know the stages in the game that is being played. rest assured we will shock you back when voting comes.

  43. Continue disturbing them, UNTIL nomination day, then ERECTION day after that EL WILL BE IN STATEHOUSE. Who is that FAT woman in the middle of SCOT and SAMPA?

  44. Wake up Zambians, this document is a complete FAKE. A lot of things are just so wrong on the document, honestly can not be genuine, unless the Zambian government is in total shambles. This document IS FAKE!

  45. This whole PF saga is showing very worrying aspects of our Judiciary. The Judiciary needs deep, urgent and comprehensive reforms. Is Justice for sell or available to those with connections? Cry the Beloved Country!

  46. Yayayaya…. What about the classified informed disclosed by Lungu? What is he still doing outside when kenene is enjoying music in prison? But pa Zed zoooon…………..
