Government has called on Zambians to break the chain of corruption and stand up for justice by exposing corrupt activities in communities and workplaces by reporting all forms of corruption to relevant authorities.

Western Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Seyuba noted that corruption was a dangerous vice which harms every government in the world adding especially the poor most as they cannot pay bribes to obtain public goods and services whenever in need.

Mr Seyuba said this in a speech read for him by his deputy Mwangala Liomba at this year’s International Anti- Corruption day commemoration in Mongu district yesterday.

He stated that corruption arises due to lack of moral standards, greed and dishonesty among individuals.

Mr. Seyuba has also warned all politicians in the province to desist from electoral corruption and other malpractices as the country heads for presidential by-elections next month.

And Provincial Anti- Corruption Commission Manager Joshua Kakoshi urged all stakeholders to participate and cooperate in the implementation of the National Anti- Corruption Policy of 2009 in order to obtain the desired results.

Mr. Kakoshi disclosed that the Commission was also implementing its 2013- 2016 Strategic Plan which places equal emphasis on preventing corruption as well as investigating and prosecuting those who engage in corrupt acts.

This year’s commemoration was under the theme ‘’Break the corruption çhain, providing an opportunity for anti- corruption agencies across the world to re-strategize on how to combat the vice in society’’.

  1. You mean even PF must stop corrupt activities? But in PF we are used to bribing people including voters, how are we expected to win then?

  2. The problem is not in the reporting but in the way the relevant enforcement agencies deal with these cases. If a president who the constitution gives so much powers is corrupt, how do you make a case against them? We have had two high profile cases that have yielded nothing. RB still carries a corruption label but no one has actually come up with what has been stolen. We need effective enforcement agencies who will prosecute corrupt people without fear or favour.

  3. some names really sound not Zambian, i think BRE should be given to them after 20.01.15 by EL , how can a zambian be called SYAKANTU,SEYUBA,AFUMBA,ALIOMBA,SHUMBA ,AKAKANDELWA,AKAKULUBELWA, EISH these are names for INSECTS
