ACTING President Guy Scott has assured the diplomatic community that Zambia remains a peaceful country despite still being in shock following the death of President Sata.

Speaking when he received credentials from four ambassadors at State House yesterday, Dr Scott told the diplomats that they will hear many statements with various views because many people are still grieving.

“We are still mourning and still affected. You will see many statements and things which are not normal for Zambia because of the shock, but we are actually very nice people and we will give you less hard time than you expect,” he said.

Dr Scott received credentials from diplomats from Finland, France, United States of America (USA) and United Nations (UN).

He assured the diplomats that Zambia will soon get back on track.

“It is a great honour to receive credentials from all of you and hope you enjoy your stay in the country,” Dr Scott said.

He said Zambia is happy to work with France because of its material contributions in maintaining peace in Africa.

Dr Scott also observed that Finland has been a good partner of Zambia since independence and the two countries have enjoyed warm bilateral relations.

“The US government has equally enjoyed warm bilateral ties with Zambia such as the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and other health-related programmes for female reproductive health,” Dr Scott said.

He is also optimistic that the UN will continue with its support to Zambia through partnership with other donor agencies.

French Ambassador-designate to Zambia Emmanuel Cohet said his focus will be to deepen bilateral ties with Zambia in the area of politics and defence.

Mr Cohet also commended the government for sending peace keeping personnel to the war-torn Central African Republic.

Finnish Ambassador to Zambia Timo Olkkonen commended Zambia for reducing its dependency on donor aid.

“My focus in Zambia will be on environmental matters, agriculture and private sector development,” Mr Olkkonen said.

He said Finland’s annual bilateral aid volumes to Zambia are around 20 million Euros, which excludes other funds channelled through funded agencies.

US Ambassador to Zambia Eric Shultz said Zambia has the potential to be the leader of Africa’s growth and his country will play a key role in this growth through technological development.

Meanwhile UN Resident co-ordinator Janet Grogan promised to closely work with the 21 agencies in Zambia spread across all areas of development.

  1. Only in Zambia can this happen. Welcome to Zambia. The land of the free. State house now looks like a “white house”. Just saying.

    • The side of PF that works.

It’s quite funny that we are more capable than the USA of being ‘post racial’ but for those who are determined to make whites answerable based on their own experiences in other lands… case in point look below at comments and it is clear which people have inferiority complexes shielded by racism and which ones are merely amused at the ‘white house’… Chuckle.

    • Look at this picture again and just think for a moment. How is it that on this particular day only white people were available for sworn in ceremony. This is the way white people behave, hence white police killings of black people in America. Thank God Scott does not qualify.

    • They came to warn him that he should not behave like a normal African despot. He should remember his European standards and avoid thuggery.

So Lungu shows if his FriendMugabe and Scott shows of his friends the U.S,EUand French.

      How funny

    • what date was this happening? December 20, 2014?…..as captioned in the pictures

Looks like in Zed we use a different calender that’s a week ahead.

    • We strive and lead in the whole continent. No Country in Africa would match Zambia. we are the best. True. State house looks more organized.

    • @MM Le Grand Patron

Can you believe this? Someone even says state House now looks more organized.
I don’t even know where one starts to address this psyche.

    • CONGRATULATIONS OUR GUY SCOTT. YOU ARE REALLY REORGANISING ZAMBIA AFTER THE LOSS OF SATA CONFUSION. TRULY, SATA WAS JUST TOO LOVED AND GREAT TO JUST LEAVE ZAMBIA SILENTLY. THAT’S NOT HOW A GREAT MAN WOULD LEAVE THE COUNTRY. BUT WE HAVE ANOTHER GREAT MAN IN GUY SCOTT WHO IS CALMING THE SITUATION DOWN. JUST LIKE ANOTHER BLOGGER HAS LAMENTED, I AM ALSO AT PAINS THAT GUY SCOTT CAN’T LEAD ZAMBIA BECAUSE OF STVPID POLICIES. ANYWAY, GO GUY GO. SHOW THEM WHAT YOU ARE MADE OF. THE AMERICAN AMBASSADOR IS RIGHT. ZAMBIA WILL LEAD AFRICA IN ALL SPHERES OF DEVELOPMENT. WE ARE THE BEST IN AFRICA. VIVA ALL ZAMBIANS.

    • But guy Scot you want to cause anarchy in our beloved motherland, the best you can do is to pack your old fashioned suitcases and go to your country
stupi muzungu as HH puts it

  2. But the caption on the picture says this event took place on 20 December 2014 which has not yet come. Is the Zambian calendar as confused as the former absentee landlord?

    • Got it Bro, I too thought Zambia could using another calendar. On a side note, I would like to appeal to folks who just see color as a litmus of being Zambian.., grow up folks, this the 21st century. Those sentiments if echoed against you in any part of the world, there is outrage. Please, treat others as you wish to be treated, and I for one, refuse to be defined by any color. Zambia is inclusive to all who are Zambians irregardless of race, creed, or gender.

  3. The only thing you can say about this is the whiteness of it all. It is a grave shame for the Black Apologists that elevated Scott to this level.

I don’t understand how it can ever be acceptable to create this type of image where the majority indigenous populations are under represented. In UK they try to put more blacks in parliament. Looks like we need to re-work our image to show more blacks in media, as the Neo-colonialists are currently living their wet dreams.

Save us from this kind of moronic thinking. No more whites pushed into the Presidents Office please, unless through proper elections. And Scott is about the worst type there is. Who listens to this man any more? He is the cause of party disagreements and election violence, and yet there he is assuring us!

    • Let us avoid petty reflections, this has nothing to do colonialism friends, Guy Scott is one of us and it is unfair to continue addressing him as a foreigner due to his colour. let us address real issues not PHD games

    • Go and ask Sata how he was helped with guy scot then see if he really not deserve it.
The mwanakatwe mvunga constitution set by Chiluba and Sata group was used to secure him in that position so if you want to grieve blame yourself as Zambian do just point fingers at others.
Even then Sata had enough time to change things cos he new was dying but preferred that way so you better shup up cos won’t take you anywhere , guy is the boss

    • It’s just that the people presenting their credentials are all from western countries. Nothing wrong with that. If they had presented their credentials to Sata, what would you say?

    • till you’re subjected to racial discrimination and insults, then you know why? Begs to differ that you’re more of a moron than level-minded beings. And for your own info, this is not in support of Dr. Scott as a president, but a human being. I am UPND for the record!

  4. There should be peace in Zambia, know why?Because there is non in the United States of America. Can you follow?

  5. I watched a documentary on the Russian president last night, he was horse riding, training judokas and karatekas, car racing, jogging and I looked at our candidates in Zambia. Edgar Lungu looking very weak physically like a malnourished person, RB also starting to look vintage, another one looked as though he has just been discharged. Why don’t our leaders look fit, Infact frankly it’s only HH who appears stronger. I am stating a fact, no politics involved here

  6. Zambia is really blessed. Which other country has this type of scenario? Answer is non. Even in US of A where people say the country is ruled by a black man, the situation is not the same because Obama is half black, half white.

  7. You can see how Obama jogs up the stairs when he is going to address the media. Very fit to govern. Our own leaders full of vitumbuwa looking very frail and unfit. We don’t only need asset declaration on nomination day but also medical certificates from independent doctors brought in by ECZ certifying fitness of all these chaps vying for the top post please, please

  8. I disagree with the statement that Zambia is a peaceful nation, it isn’t. Panga wielding thugs have instilled fear in the population and you call it peace? Zambia is just as unstable as Somali and Congo. They haven’t shed blood yet but at the rate PF is promoting pangas civil war can erupt any time.

  9. If Lungu loses next month, let Scott take over as PF president. This man has shown that he can make a good president in the one month he has been at the helm. We have stagnated since 1964 and countries like South Korea which were at the same level as us then are almost a hundred times more developed than us now. If Scott can deliver then he should be given a chance; he is as patriotic as any other Zambian and in fact more patriotic that a lot of black Zambians. Who is more patriotic between Scott and Newton Nguni?

  10. Blame the useless rotten old man in Embassy Park for all this confusion. …he honestly thought his fellow empty tin Guy was going to be merely a ceremonial veep. This is what happens when you use people for your own little deceitful selfish reasons.

  11. I agree with Scott that we are indeed peaceful people BUT are we going to eat peace! Zambia needs economic development URGENTLY! Hence the need to have a steady pair of hands at statehouse.

How do they score in my eyes [steady leadership]
    Guy Scott – 70
    Nevers Mumba – 50
    Rupiah Banda -15
    Edga Lungu -0.0003
    Miles Sampa – 40
    Hakainde Hachilema – 35
    Godfrey Miyanda – 70

There it is… Please Zambians let us vote wisely

    • iyo kwena kwaliba those who do not have anything to do who I can confidentially term as ‘brainless individuals’ like this self comforting statistician… you need to grow

  12. DOC SCOTT IS A DEMOCRAT AND HE IS RIGHT NOT TO ACCEPT WRONG THINGS NKANDU LUO AND GROUP ARE A BIG LET DOWN TO PF.THEY ARE SUPPORTING UNDEMOCRATIC TENDENCIES IN THIS COUNTRY.TO BE FAIR,ANOTHER CONVENTION FOR PF SHOULD BE HELD.

  13. The credentials are from Europe, what do you expect? Don’t you see Obama among the white? Scott is more Zambian, and he is doing a great job, let’s wait for the out come of constitution. He has shown us what a leader is. Unfortunately people like Lungu are clueless, can not read a speech, show them scott. Good job, very orderly indeed.
Just do these kinds of duties, not campaigning for stupid thugs. You will go well on record, ignore the insults.

  14. Stupid Kalaba, should be removed from foreign affairs, he is muselela kwakaba, he is Kachasu chola boy, who cannot be trusted, any way 20 December, will remove him.

  15. Surely were it not for the stupid parentage clause squeezed in by myopic self serving politicians by now we would have had a good presidential hopeful in Dr Guy Scott to make the country forge ahead.

    • @Gunyu Masaka

Yes. If Lungu was in it, at least there would be a representation of true Zambian interests. I may seem cynical but I have interacted with bazungus for a long time, and they are cunning – their interests are always first and far-reaching – and yes, even Guy Scott.
It’s something we gotta learn from them.

  16. @Jay Jay, don’t be sarcastic, Sata didn’t use Scott for selfishness, Scott and Sata knew each other a long time ago, before you were born. In fact, Scott saw in Sata what many other Zambians who attended his burial (and those who didn’t) saw. Even in death more people showed what we never saw during FTJ and Levy’s funeral. The relationship was Scott and Sata was that of symbiosis. Spare us the childish comments please.

  17. Really people? There is all kinds of wrong in the images above. And you expound nonsense about how emancipated you are. The Naiive, unexposed, foolish sentiments expressed here make me want to weep.
