The Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) Presidential Candidate Rupiah Banda this weekend flew to Kasama where he paid a courtesy call on Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Henry Sosala.

The Chitimukulu reminded all those present that traditional leaders do not formally endorse individuals, but that he “knows who is a good child and who is a bad child, who is lying and who is telling the truth.”

“I would like to encourage our people to vote for a genuine person, someone who will unite the country and not divide it,” Chitimukulu Henry Sosala said.

In turn Rupiah Banda thanked the Paramount Chief for his warm welcome and the bashilubemba for all their hard work to provide for the palace during times of hardship.

I am a transitional leader. With a new constitution, we can successfully and safely deliver the country into the hands of a younger leader

[/pullquote]During a campaign visit to Mpulungu, Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) presidential candidate Rupiah Banda promised to deliver a new constitution and to restore order to the economy.

Greeted by a boisterous crowd of cheering supporters, Banda said that if elected, he would be a president for all Zambians – serving those who voted for him as well as those who would not.

“I am a transitional leader, and I am promising you, the people of Mpulungu, that I will work hard during the coming two years to ensure that your farming inputs are delivered by 1st of August so that you are prepared for the farming season.”

Speaking before the assembled crowd of supporters, Banda pointed to his past record of success managing the economy.

“You will recall that mealie meal during my time was K35 per 25-kilo bag, and now it is more than K70 per bag. I will ensure that I stabilize the agricultural system and this will at last bring down the price of mealie meal,” he said.

The former president continued: “I have done it before, and I can do it again. We stabilized the price of fuel and made the price uniform across the whole country, but now, the price at the pump has more than doubled. We will work hard to bring down the fuel prices to acceptable levels like it was before we lost the last election.”

Banda said that if elected he would not allow any persecution or harassment of opponents, but would only be focused on delivering unity and the new constitution.

“It is my promise that I will deliver a new constitution that improves our democracy and holds leaders accountable,” Banda said, “one that features 50+1, requirements for running mates, and dual citizenship. With a new constitution, we can successfully and safely deliver the country into the hands of a younger leader.”

    • Iwe @BG L, are blind. You mean you cant see that GBM is doing a ka FORWARD chabe symbol. Wake up you are in the losing team.

    • Meanwhile his wife is going through chemo?

Most zambian men are inept and here is someone who personifies that view.

      Ludicrous

      Thanks
      BB2014

    • @Bwana you are really sure huh? You guys cant unseat PF but then I might be wrong on time will tell. How else can you explain why you are supporting Sampa. Its becoz you want a weak contender coz Lungu is too much for HH to beat.

    • @BIG L. Be honest and tell me you don’t feel change the air.

For your info, visionless Lun Gu is even a weaker gatekeeper for your PF Dojo and opponent.

He is jittery and sweating in his pants. Can you explain why he is busy lying (as per PF habit) about the Chitimukulu, retirement and constitution? Why use post’s tax issue when PF is the culprit?

Don’t tell us that you will will now reinstate the fired nurses, bring mealie meal pricess down, repeal the POA, pay farmers on time, reduce the cabinet, give free education etc – you had 3 years to do that and you have failed miserably.

Zambia is fed up and wants to go forward.

    • Bwana Big L, one cannot avoid but notice that even stories that have completely nothing to do with HH you jump in and bring him in. Is it hate or fear that simply attracts his name to your mind every single minute? The story is about RB and Chitimukulu and nowhere does it refer to HH. Does Big L stand for Big Loser or Big Liar or Booze Lungu?

  1. The Chitimukulu does not endorse candidates but he reminded all those present that traditional leaders do not formally endorse individuals, but that he “knows who is a good child and who is a bad child, who is lying and who is telling the truth.”

    “I would like to encourage our people to vote for a genuine person, someone who will unite the country and not divide it,” Chitimukulu Henry Sosala said. If you ask me, he is saying;

    Vote wisely in Jan 2015
    #RBnafutiNafuti

  2. Glad to hear the Chitimukulu being clear on the indorsement issue. Yes let the people choose the next liar of their choice. GBM muselela kwakaba zoona. Hungry power people must not be allowed near the corridors of power. RB should take a step backwards, how I wish Chitimukulu had cancelled him his retrun to active politics, but as usual the Chitimukulu does not interfere like other traditional leaders.

  3. Rupiah failed to work on the constitution and now wants to pass the constitution. We do not want transitional leader but one who will deliver and come 2016 will not struggle to return him. Rupiah is good at not listening to people and that is the reason why people ended voting for Sata. People have advised him let go this presidential race so that he can be with the sick wife, he has paid a deaf ear. His not a man who can transform Zambia, he caused trouble in MMD and poor Nevers was kicked out because of him

    • I think you have a thyroid deficient memory. When RB became President there was a National Constitution Comference It was PF and UPND which voted against it.

    • RB brought Constitution to Parliament but it was HH who instructed UPND to vote against the Constitution along with PF. HH and the PF are the ones who failed the nation on the Constitution. Joe Biden run for his Senate seat the first time with his children in hospital after a serious car accident which also led to the death of his wife but he served the people of his State with distinction.

    • What does Rupiah Banda want second time around? He failed last time and even his son does not want him to stand! What does that tell us? His insistence about standing is a show of avarice and greed. He is not happy with his retirement package and hopes to make more if he becomes president.

  4. Nawakwi is better that Lungu and Banda. If we choose any of the two leaders we are going back wards. Personally I believe HH is the only candidate who is neutral and able to change things.

  5. This RB kept quiet when the dead thug was harrassing Chitimukulu. As a statesman RB could have reprimanded Sata for his unprovoked attacks on Mwinelubemba.

    • @THE SAINTS

A vocal denunciation uttered publicly from an influential mouth such as RB’s would have significant impact and probably would have motivated cowards to come out in the open and condemn Sata’s cruelty.

    • @Wantashi
If RB had said something publicly he would have been charged with “actions/utturances likely to cause breach of the peace”.
That was MCS’ way of silencing the opposition.
Ask HH when he exposed the Sudan malitia training agreement by the PF. The same “red barret” guys we recently saw surrounding Miles Sampa.

    • I agree a woman who grabs another woman’s husband is not to be trusted. Sadly the women in politics in Zambia are all in the same boat,” bakatoba mayanda” the men are ven worse, multiple wives and girlfriends. What are we going to teach the younger generation?

  6. GBM is behaving like a prostitute, one night he is in bed with HH and the next he is in bed wit RB. After the Kilometres Sampa court case he will be in bed with the eventual PF candidate.

  7. Amano ukucepa ai!! What a bunch of brainwashed ignorant dunderheads that reject that which is before their eyes, but worship “an invisible old muzungu that sits on a cloud”…tsk.. tsk.

What do you expect from someone who’s leadership is for people that still use a hole in the ground as a toilet?

  8. This guy can do no right in my eyes. The shabby treatment of Nevers Mumba, the unashamed sangwa po, the speed with which he’s proceeding to campaign, beggars belief.

Shame on you Roopy Poopy. You needed to take a prominent SECOND seat supporting Nevers for MMD.

transitional leader , my asss! You are a greedy, bloated, opportunist with no regard for anyone but yourself – no compassion for Nevers, not even for your ailing wife either!

Wila twala ifiko kuli ba shamfumu wesu. ifimyona!

  9. This old man is mad. He kept in his Chipata hole when his rival Sata Mpika was harassing Henry the great. Look at the seating arrangement, all because this ugly woman called Luo was using her bottom power to humiliate the Benalubemba. It was only HH who wanted Zambia and Lubemba to go forward.
I also think GBM has balls because he stood his ground against the dead Snake. By the way, what has happened to Mulenga Sata and her mother Kaseba? They must be busy packing the loot left by King Cobra.

  10. i love the chitimukulu he is telling this old rug rb that dont rush to me i dont endorse individuals and goes on to let people vote for one who can unite zambians very rich message but rb got nothing whatever he is promising now he didnt do during his rule hence his early exit in preferance of sata the waste. rb doesnt listern to people vj said it we forgot to listern to people hence our losing. he is still doing the same why go for less than 2 years what do you hope to achieve apart from clinging to power till you die to hell with you. we have one who have proved to unite zambia that is hh flight hh2015

  11. Is it too late to put some of the wiser chiefs down as the newest party? They are more accommodating than I would be. Chuckle.

On a serious note though… actually forget it… I can’t be serious about Re-Based MMD and his grand mufti… sorry I meant to say grandpa is dodging retirement again. Chuckle.

  12. OK I will defend GBM here, the man has matured in politics and wishes the most accepted person to lead our nation. GBM interacts with every one visiting his constituency, he defended Chitimukulu when PF govt was persecuting him like an ordinary person – the shame and legacy of PF and Sata over Chitimukulu will linger for ever.
Today PF is making mockery of Chitimukulu that they will recognize him, but Sata is dead Chitimukulu remains a nonetity in the eyes of PF.
A Tonga man will recognize Chanda Sosala as the Chitimukulu of the Bemba people, chapwa ne nsoni ba PF.

    Viva HH Viva UPND

  13. This man reeks of revenge! He wants to punish all those who have labelled him corrupt. He is more dangerous than Edgar Lungu. Zambians should steer clear of him, avoid him like a plague. Stay away from this specimen! DO NOT VOTE FOR KANITUNDILA! Job done!

    • I concur. This man wants to revenge. They have started talking about ”reversing” mine taxes, zamtel, finance bank etc.. EXACTLY the kind of f00lishness we DONT NEED.
This Fossil needs to come out at level of Cosmo.
We cant keep voting out same chap every time. Waste of ballot space
