U.S. Ambassador Eric Schultz discusses free, and fair elections with Acting President Scott

United States Ambassador to the Republic of Zambia Eric Schultz yesterday met with His Excellency Acting President Dr. Guy Scott, reiterating United States commitment to partnership with the people and Government of Zambia. Ambassador Schultz again stated his appreciation for the warm Zambian welcome that he has received.

Ambassador Schultz expressed appreciation for Zambia’s legacy as a peaceful, stable democracy and his hopes for Zambia’s upcoming presidential election. Ambassador Schultz said, “The United States strongly supports a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful campaign and presidential election on January 20.” He noted the importance of Zambia’s maintaining its proud democratic traditions and the important role the Acting President is playing in upholding those traditions.

Ambassador Schultz reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to partnership initiatives such as the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to combat HIV and AIDS, the Millennium Challenge Corporation compact to bring reliable and safe water to residents of Lusaka, the service of Peace Corps Volunteers working in Zambian communities, the training the United States is providing to the Zambian peacekeepers deploying to the Central African Republic, and a host of other cooperative initiatives between the United States and Zambia. He also expressed confidence that U.S.-Zambia relations would be as friendly and positive in Zambia’s next 50 years as they had been in its first 50 years.

  1. The elections will not be fair on PF side, even though Edgar Lungu will loose. Schultz shpuld demand for PEACE, that Zambia can keep. But free & fair???
    Look here:
It takes 20 minutes to drive from Chawama to Mandevu, but believe it or not, Edgar Lungu went by Helicopter just to show-off paid by who? PF will abuse all kind of government resources to win elections.

    • We demand for a live debate between HH and Edgar Chagwa Lungu. They must answer questions ranging from Good Governance, Economic development ,Energy ,agricultural development, Education, Health ,constitution and foreign policy.

    • Sido Mark the debate should involve all presidential aspirants to be credible it seems too much attention is being given to EL and HH. What is going on in other parties’ candidates?

    • This meeting is suspicious, coming on the day Supreme Court failed us by keeping Sampa in circulation. American and British Embassies interfering in our democratic processes by supporting an Acting President who has done everything to appoint Sampa through an illegal process is worrying.

Complementing Scott for his effort in ensuring democracy is underhand. This is saying thanks for your effort in trying to put in a puppet. Edgar has already declared collection of taxes from Mines and Investors and they must be worrying about their right to plunder us.

There is only one way, Scott will act if the High Court fail to put this Scott out of action. Sampa can only win an election through rigging and violence to oppositionsand citizens.

Who wears white socks showing through…

  2. HH is the best. Go son of the soil, go son of Africa, go son of our motherland, go HH. The whole nation in its entirety, breadth and width is with u. Pls when we u put in state house, do not have any single nite of sleep. The challenges are enormous. Stretch yourself for the sake of our kids on the streets, for the sake of our mothers/sisters who are giving birth in coackroach infested wards, for the sake of un-employed youths, for the sake of unpaid retirees, for the sake of unpaid farmers, for the sake of our motherland. U have got the brains and we have no doubt as a nation that u can do it. Pls do it.

    • Look, Scott will run a campaign of violence against Oppositions and citizens if the High Court fail to despise of the Sampa case and allow them to linger on in the current state.

Just think, PF. Has had no time to campaign if a major upset happens to allow them to select another candidate, we will have PANDEMONIUM on the streets. Violence and rigging I s the only way a Scott Cartel candidate can win! They’ve had no time to campaign.

    • I for one don’t believe Scott can organize violence against opposition. There is only one person who is capable of doing that and that is Lungu with his thuggish cadres. They have shamelessly beaten up members of the opposition. Yet Lungu as Home Affairs and Justice Minister has not condemned the violence.
      Some of you have blinkers!

  3. Check for latest photos from Luwingu on ZWD.HH is doing it in style.Lungu will have no time to pass through all these places.VIVA HH,VIVA Patrick Mucheleka.

  4. These elections will be rigged by PF unless ECZ, Election Monitors, Election Agents for UPND, FDD, MMD and NAREP are vigilant to stop Malpractices. Mechanisms to verify and validate the results must be strengthened. You cannot trust these PF Characters of Edgar Lungu, Nsanda, Luo, Kambwili, Simuusa, Xavier, etc. Edgar Lungu and team have been harassing Kanyanta Sosala all this time, but for the sake of votes, they are lying that they are in the process of recognizing him? Why now. We thought Mafioso behavior was only in Italy. Weren’t we wrong. Bashi Lubemba lookout for Zambian Mafioso! PF KU YA BEBELE!

    • You keep attacking Lungu but actually it’s Scott you need to worry about. If Lungu runs Scott et al will work against him as they will not work with him except if it is Sampa, in which case they will do all the above things you say.

Lungu is running an Honest and Clean election. The bad elements of Scot et al, cartel will only be in play if Sampa somehow miraculously is picked again.

Let’s all be in deep prayer even if we are on different sides, we do all want a fair and transparent election. Lungu is innocent in your scenario.
