PATRIOTIC Front (PF) president Edgar Lungu says he is not at “war” with Acting President Guy Scott because they are both members of the ruling party and have the same interests.
Mr Lungu dismissed perceptions that he has differences with Dr Scott and needs to reconcile with him.

He said this in an interview with journalists yesterday shortly after a closed-door meeting with United States (US) Ambassador to Zambia Eric Shultz.

“There is no need for reconciliation because we are not at war. As you may be aware, he is still my vice. It is just a perception,” he said.

Mr Lungu, who is Minister of Justice and Minister of Defence, said Dr Scott will join the campaign when he is ready and he cannot join now because he is busy with State matters.

“So far, the campaigns are going on well and I assured the Ambassador that we will win the elections and ensure that peace is maintained,” Mr Lungu said.

He was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo, PF secretary general Davis Chama and Chipili member of Parliament Davies Mwila.

And Mr Shultz said it is important for the country to continue on the path of peace and to continue attracting investors.

Mr Shultz said he will meet all major political players to ensure that peace is maintained during the transition.

“Yesterday [Sunday], I met the Acting President and I will be meeting all major political parties. It is important for the country to maintain peace because that is what attracts investors,” Mr Shultz said.

He said the campaigns have been interesting so far.

Mr Shultz is also concerned about the high level of poverty in rural areas and that it is important for the next President to address this.

“The extent of rural poverty is worrying and it needs to be urgently addressed,” Mr Shultz said.

    • In this picture, Kaminamisa Edgar Vodka Lungu looks like some one suffering from adult malnutrition….but I am sure the disfigurement is as a result of years of chronic alcoholism. I saw a clip on TV of him talking to reporters, he is not presidential material

    • How can a vision-less leader have morally responsible cadres who are noble. Cant you see the leadership thugs surrounding EL including the so called supporters, they don’t seem to be normal to me.

    • @Limpo… and you think HH has normal supporters in William Banda, Katele Kalumba, Vernom Mwaanga … and the many hooligans that cause confusion. The only people who have normal supporters are Chipimo, Miyanda and Milupi. Oh and Magande.

    • I like Eddy…”As you may be aware Scott is still my vice..” that’s a killer punch. You have to love this humble son of the soil…viva EL viva PF.

  1. PLEASE EL go to war!!!!!! these fools think they can walk over you. As the saying goes ” Fight fire with fire!!” or “don’t bring a knife to a gun fight”

    • You need your head examining! Have you seen what war does to civilians? And what is there to to war for? The violence instigated by Lungu’s thugs is bad enough. Lungu has no regard for Scot as Aacting President and that is why he and Kalaba went off to Zimbabwe without his permission. Unfortunately people like you don’t realise the seriousness of the matter. And to see Mugabe of all presidents?
Think before you open your mouth!

    • Edgar is Minister reporting to AP Scott. Scott is VP-PF reporting to Edgar. What kind of confusion is this? PF is so messed up!

    • @Nine; Is this what EL travelled to ZIM for to get counsel from ZANU-PF? We know what Zanu-PF did in zim and PF is the sister party!

    • @Nine, Zambia is a peace loving country and we thrive on peace. Suggestion that Edgar Lungu should go to war are unacceptable to all peace loving Zambians. Inciting violence or war is criminal and should not be promoted or encouraged on social media or anywhere else. Please refrain from making statements that risk the peace of this beloved country….. Ask someone who has been in a war or similar environment and they will tell you about the horrors and trauma that war leaves behind. You would never wish that sort of thing on your own country and especially if you were a peace loving citizen. Focus your contributions constructively as that is fundamental in a democratic society.

    • LT. Please, remove this remark.

It is not worth appearing in your paper because it breaches the peace that Zambia proclaims in her National Anthem.

    • You fools… Of course no one is suggesting war… literally.
It is the unfair mud slinging that EL referred to as ” I am not at war with Scoot.”

  2. Good Show Ambassador. That’s how a true leader and peacemaker gotta be-unbiased, Not taking sides. Good show Mr Lungu, you surely have no grudge against nobody, seems people just hates you for no justifiable reason at all.

    • I have never heard of an ambassador inviting political parties. This meeting is misplaced priority. It is alright to say that Zambia must continue on the path of peace and it is enough. Would a senator do for such a meeting? Possibly not just an ambassador.

  3. First time am seeing someone being fought on all fronts, the opposition, the parasitic courts, his colleagues, the parasite of a newspapers and the list goes on.

But do not despair sir as us the masses and the divine favour are with you all the way.

    • @ Mansa, perhaps you can share the attributes of Edgar Lungu that make you feel comfortable he is suitable to be president. We already know he was debarred by LAZ for stealing clients’ money, he was fired from all his previous employment, he is a drunk and habitual gambler. So @ Mansa, tell us your version of the EL story

    • LP Mansa:

      Your observations have strong points.

Only one question I reserve for Lungu haters:
If Mr. E. C. Lungu was as bad as he is being portrayed, how come he is drawing masses in his first ever presidential race? Competing with those who have been at it for more than a decade—some can’t even come anywhere close.

I trust Zambians; whatever their choice is, I accept.
      That is democracy!

The message between the lines is getting clearer by the day to majority Zambians: Lungu is the haters’ greatest threat.
Even previous rivals have now ganged up against him. Strange!

      Mr. E. C. Lungu Sir:
You’re gold being tested by fire. You’re a force to reckon with.
This training is important; great responsibilities lies ahead.
Be strong. God is watching us.

      God bless you all.

    • Its only you seeing as if he is drawing masses when the reality shows HH drawing more people than Kachasu. Voting a moslem will only jeopardize the peace once enjoyed as a christian nation. Sharia law may even come in Zambia.

    • @Saviour Katewa-Aibmaz is Zambia

Lungu is not drawing crowds. May be you are not up to date with Kamina misa’s dirty tricks, those ‘masses’ you see on TV are his thugs who are being paid to make it look like he is popular. Don’t you read or watch news? Already some of the thugs are up in arms annoyed that Lungu has forgotten to pay them for services rendered. If you want quality leadership support HH, you won’t be disappointed.

    • Obatala naimwe jealous mwachilamo. Many people take alcohol. Lungu is not the first person who take alcohol to vie for presidency. Bring out issues not those petty things you are bringing out. He has faired fairl well in the portifolios he has held in government so far. Judge him based on that not petty personal things. The people you are championing probably have even worse off habits than Lungu. Mmembe the person who is pouring out scorn on Lungu is a thief who has dribbled the nation (a whole nation) of K34,000,000 (miliion or 34 billion in old currency). People make mistakes and they reform but not Mmembe who steals and still wants to paint himself as if he is a saint.

    • Thank you so much for the input truly the Lord is with all citizens of the land especially those who support Lungu..come 20 Jan we usher in Edgar C. Lungu in state house as our 6th Zambian Prez.

    • @Wantanshi,
I have no problem with Mr. Hakainde Hichilema; I can learn a lot from him—especially wealth creation.

However, the twisting of the truth, snide remarks, rude behavior, and proud disposition of his supporters is what is drawing me further and further away from him. I find it disgusting.

  4. Destiny is divine,if it is meant to be,it surely will come to be.A lot of people have wanted EL to fall but have not succeeded, just like some countries have wanted Israel wiped off the face of this earth.EL will come out victorious,no matter how many enemies.

    • I for one don’t believe that Lungu is the chosen one by God. Hr has got this far because of using intimidation of the opposition.
Don’t be fooled by the numbers attending his rallies. Most go out of curiosity, to see this man, who is riding on Sata’s lack of vision.

    • Jehovah God allows us to choose between right and wrong. When the children of Israel demanded for a king God told them the traits of their would be King – Saul 1Sam 8vs 11-21. They had a chance to say no to the rule of an earthly king and say to the rule of God through Prophets/Judges. God gave them Saul who mistreated them. For us the writing is on the wall. Choose EL and his panga family or HH or RB. The choice is our and we will bear the consequences.

    • @Zamcab which destine by which God,Ala .Zambia is a Christian Nation and shall remain as Such.Edgar Lungu is a moslem and we Christians shall make sure Edgar is not voted in power.we don’t want him to change our constitution to that of a secular worse still of an Islamic state.Zambians open your eyes. This nephew to Sata from Malawi will mess us up.

    • By your rationale, Chiluba was chosen by God. And so was Sata, Idi Amin, Mobutu Sese seko, Paul Kagame, Robert Mugabe. I disagree. God expects us to use our intelligency when choosing leaders.

    • @professional…curiosity killed a cat baba…by the way how do you know that they go out of curiosity.? If they were attending HH’s rallies would it be fair for us to say those people are only curious.? Lungu is winning fair and square.

    • Ba Sido Mark – Only EL has come straight on upholding the Declaration of Zambia as a Christian State. He has stood in Christian churches encouraging Christians to pray for him and the country. I will take any Moslem who does this. Still waiting on HH’s position on the Declaration and also on gay rights.

  5. Am really convinced that lungu is the man of the moment. its just too much persecution. Its like he is the one people fear. uyu wine ewakubikapo. we dd the same for Sata. we wl do it for Lungu.

    • Yes and see the confusion Sata has left behind. Lungu is even worse. Who is persecuting him? He with his thugs are intimidating others. Don’t forget that!

    • @Brenda we warned about Sata you called as bitter, look now we are in debts. The Nkongole is too big than what Kaunda borrowed to build UNZA,UTH,General Hospitals in all provinces,Schools throught |Zambia ,Independence stadium,All provincial Stadiums,Police stations in provinces of Zambia,ZANACO banks in big towns in Zambia,Nitrogen chemicals,Kafue and Mulungushi textiles. The list is endless. Now tell me what did Sata use all this money for, only repairing already existing roads.Kaunda built Roads not rehabilitating finished roads.Zambians wake up.We should remove these thieves before we become poor like Zimbabwe.Lwenu bakula mutombela a ma sisters benu kwati ba ku Zimbambwe.when hunger is high prostitution is the only simple business.

    • @brenda

Lungu is following exactly in Sata’s violent footsteps. No body hates him, it’s just that he is not fit to govern a country. Look, by his own admission, he has confessed he hasn’t a vision for the country. What do you think about that? If your own father told you the same would you be confident of your future success? Again he has admitted he drinks beer excessively. He is a compulsive gambler. He was disciplined by LAZ for embezzling clients funds. You wouldn’t employ a guy with Lungu’s record to manage your company, let alone a nation, now would you?

  6. Inondo taikomawila apabula kantu. There is substance in Lungu that’s why he is being hit from all corners. But you know why, It is all showers of blessings to his political landscape. He will overcome. Love the way Willie Nsanda is doing things. That’s the way to go , no violence but facts only. Kambwili you are doing fine. All of you guys in EL team are moving with one purpose, don’t be destructed by what may be thrown at you, go,go.

HH also must not despair but continue the uphill battle. No violence please.

All parties must be ware of plants masquerading as certain members of particular party yet not so but planted people to do opposite things as conduct your rallies.

Police must put to task such masqueraders until they reveal true identity, you will be shocked who sends…

    • @ Watcherman

What about convicted embezzler masquerading as honest and trustworthy candidate for presidency with the financial help of perpetual thief and tax evader?

  7. Anama Boza EL!
His actions speak louder than his words!
    He’s a Wolf in sheep’s clothing!
    Watch out GS!
This chap is a back stubber!

  8. MINISTER of Justice Edgar Lungu says acting President Dr Guy Scott is in a personal fight with him because he does not like him. And Lungu’s cadres yesterday threatened to beat up participants of the 2014 Zambia Water Forum taking place at Mulungushi International Conference Centre, where the justice minister was also holding a press briefing. Lungu was addressing the press on his disputed election as party president when his supporters got agitated by the activities at the Water Forum downstairs. The cadres followed the organisers of the forum and threatened to beat up the cultural group that was entertaining participants, who included foreign delegates. One of the cadres followed a pregnant woman coordinating the event and started insulting her.  “Iwe, tawishibe ifilechitika pamulu?…

    • This is the calibre of Lungu’s followers! Violent and irrational. Yet does their leader speak against the violence? No he sees it as a way of ruling because his boss or uncle was like that. Lungu has no leadership qualities.

  9. Ba Lungu still telling lies like they did when Sata was sick.
It is clear that Lungu and Scott are not in the same boots. And soon we will all know. Do you think any sane person would pretend all is good after all that embarrassment Scott went through, even to the level Lungu had to seek courts to over throw Scott. The case is still in court.
Ba Lungu stop telling lies and reconcile. You know that reconciliation with Scott means giving up position to Sampa hence you claim no reconciliation required.
This Scott will do a donchi kubeba on you Lungu during elections by supporting HH. Wait before elections things will change baba.

  10. Regardles of what is happening , i think the political enviroment is improving in comparison to prevous where it was charecterised by insults now presidential aspirants are busy telling their electorates their manifetos.thats the way to go!BRAVO

  11. It will be tragic to continue with these PF thugs. Zambians please open your eyes. The second wave of lies is in progress.

  12. Am surprised that this Kalaba chap has the audacity to say that Sata anointed Lungu, who told this ignorant chap that Sata had the wisdom, power or indeed a duty to choose for us who should be president.

  13. HH is the best: best businessman among all contenders; proven track record of fending off poverty at personal level; will be donating his monthly salary to community. BANDA-no vision, is in it to shake off the shame of losing to MCS; has short term objective-just talks of being president btwn now & 2016. How can we elect a person who only wants to be on probation! LUNGU-has no vision; is being pushed by powerful forces behind him; he is not sophisticated enough to lead 14m pipo. HH, let me report that our Act. President is doing commendable job. He has surprised many of us. No wonder Sata could not allow him to act. He is in his own class. If this is the man we had for these 3 yrs, Zambia wud have moved miles ahead. HH, this man Simuusa was on radio this morning. No vision also.

    • Really, what has HH done for villagers surrounding his ranch. Has HH built a school or a clinic for the villagers? My guess is no. Why should HH start doing community service only after becoming a president? He says he will donate his salary to charity when he becomes president, because he knows his companies will reap billions from government tenders. Those who want a poorer Zambia should go ahead and vote for HH. Once voted into power the 1st thing HH will do, will be to privatise Zamtel and sell it to himself. Watch this space.

    • Imwe bros and sisters, don’t rely on what somebody has achieved or his/her personal status is in society, in terms of running a businesses. HH being rich and a good manager of his own businesses DOES NOT MAKE HIM an automatic high-flying presidential success. Leading a country and running a business are two totally different professions. Look at Poland/Zambia led by trade unionists, Zaire/Central African Republic, led by self-made dictators and Nigeria/Uganda led by army generals as examples. EL will prevail over infant politicians like HH, come 20/01/2015.

    • Who told you “best businessman” = “best leader/president”? Gosh, this is the kind of shallow analysis that makes ‘personality cults’ tick!

Look, being President is way complicated than simply managing a few farms where the majority population is heifers with a few unfortunate souls who regard him as a ‘bwana’. The question you ought to ask yourself is: What leadership traits has HH shown beyond being a businessman that makes him presidential material? Mind you, 13+ million Zambians aren’t heifers and bulls to be led in silence! They have opinions and differing ways of living, culture, opinions, backgrounds, etc. So what has HH done or demonstrated beyond “business” that makes you think he is the guy? To me, HH comes off as arrogant, self-centered, and a political armature.

  14. Oh really Edgar?!

Well, I see what this is about, Edgar!

You want easy access to gvt resources, and GS is holding on to the key!

    Very clever!

Tell you what Edgar, we can see through you like an x-ray!

  15. STRICTLY SPEAKING, THERE ARE NO ATTRIBUTES OF EL THAT SHOULD CAUSE US TO VOTE FOR HIM. HOWEVER, POLITICS IS A GAME OF NUMBERS. THE MAN WITH NO ATTRIBUTES HAS THE MASSES BEHIND HIM. AND AT THE END OF THE DAY IT IS THE NUMBERS THAT TAKE ONE TO STATE HOUSE AND NOT THE ATTRIBUTES. EL HAS THE MASSES THAT CAN TAKE HIM TO STATE HOUSE. AND FOR PF TO SURVIVE, THEY HAVE TO GO WITH THE MAN WHO HAS THE MASSES. THE MASSES ARE NOT ALWAYS RIGHT THOUGH. MAGANDE, CHIPIMO, RB, MILUPI, NAWAKWI EVEN HH ALL HAVE THE ATTRIBUTES. UNFORTUNATELY FOR THEM, THEY DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH NUMBERS TO TAKE THEM TO STATE HOUSE.MAYBE THE NUMBER OF SUPPOTERS YOU HAVE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS AN ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTE. IT IS A CHOICE YOU HAVE TO MAKE. I WOULD RATHER ERR ON THE SIDE OF GOING WITH THE MASSES.

  16. In 2011 we elected a walking-dead and sure enough he was dead 3 years later. Do we want to repeat that same mistake with this Lungu lump of a sugarcane stalk?

  17. Were on earth did you see Christians voting for a Moslem?Awe kwena Lungu is a bad seed.Dont say you were not told. You called as Bitter when we said Sata was sick and can be Good president, were is he now?Cry the beloved country were even a Chongololo can be president as long he assure thieves of there dues.

    • @SIDO MARK, enough with your Muslim-bashing tr@sh! Go marry one since you seem so infatuated by them. God have mercy!!!!!!!

  18. Just imagine, PF Presidential candidate, Minister of Justice and Minister of Defence. This man is self-centred and he is big eyed too. viva HH and UPND.

  19. Looking at HH’s wife at the failed meeting in Chawama, I don’t believe HH is healthy. People look very very closely and you will agree with me.
He is sick and am sure Dr. Canicious Banda his vice president is aware of this that’s why he is not campaigning for UPND…

    • What failed meeting Oceanics? A wife campaigning for a husband while he is away is failure. How many times have you seen his wife before or even talk before? even if there was one person there it would be considered successful. Your level of analysis is extremely shallow my friend. Have you heard of door to door campaigns?

  20. Nyau you cracked my ribs, surely Zambians are blind wanting to vote for another walking dead, vote him in power then heap all your problems on him, criticisms, strikes and protests before you know he is dead too. I don’t know how EL will succeed with no vision, too many enemies within his own party and he sees no need to reconcile, lying to us about Scott being busy, when Scott already gave us his position on the issue.

  21. OCEANICS how are your eyes, take Lungu’s picture put it alonside HH and tell me who is healthy. and also who walks with a walking stick HH or lungu, My friend lests be real and not decieve ourselves we just lost a President who didn’t appear healthy, l don’t think we should be making that same mistake voting for someone who appears sick, no matter how much we love him because death doesn’t care about that.

    • HH is not healthy my friend. Take a very close look again if you don’t believe us.
A walking stick is a symbol, not sign of illness badala! Edgar is actually in perfect condition if you have the doctor’s eyes.

    • Here we go again! Already pinning your hopes on someone’s “ill health” to get to State House. What if EL wins; back on your knees praying that he dies so you can have another crack at the presidency before the appointed time? Well, sometimes Democracy acts like a “b!tch”. The people’s vote will keep slapping you in the face again and again until you realize that Zambian voters really don’t give a “rat’s @ss” about issues (health) you folks in UPND waste your time on.

In any case most Zambian leaders/politicians are already sick anyway—including many in UPND. Plenty of them are already popping ARVs like candy. And Zambian voters aren’t stvp!d, they know this!

  22. PF is returning power on 20th January 2015. All indicators support this.
Maureen Mwanawasa MUST just shut up and stop belittling women. Has she forgotten how she treated women like trash when her husband was in power? What on earth can she lie to us women with desperate UPND which she couldn’t do when she was in State House?
Listen, the more you try to lie, the harder the people crash you. Who has forgotten the corruption (Petroda) she was involved in? Where is the Maureen Mwanawasa Foundation today?
PF has brought back integrity to its people especially the poor and there is no turning back on this score. Massive development is taking place everywhere and shall continue in PF under Edgar Lungu. These are facts and you cant change them.
    Viva Edgar, viva Pabwatoo

    • integrity to one tribe you mean? Out of the 23 ministers in the PF government, 15 are all from one region and only three districts for that matter…. Mpika, Kasama and Chisali. The economy is also in a mess and total ruined,” Milupi has said. Can you explain this to you supporter of a tribalist, regional party.

  23. Lungu has no respect for authority, He should respect Guy scott to be lifted up. Respect the constitution these are cardinal issues for attributes of leadership.
Lungu is hiding in cadres and their violent way. its no good. Something tells me Lungu is no presidential material and its true. its for ever suffering for Zambia.

    • Scott does not deserve any respect from right thinking people. He should be ignored and shunted to the cobwebs of colonial history.

  24. @ sido mark, there you go again with upnd lies, where did you see lungu in a mosque? Arent moslems voters also in zambia yet you insult them. The free masons have no numbers to make hh win. Lungu is a christian but needs support of all zambians including hh and kapita to vote for him.

  25. When a presidential candidate is unjustifiably hated by its opponents, he emerges a winner and in this case Edgar Lungu, who has gunned so much popularity countrywide a in short space of being a Presidential candidate is winning by a landslide victory.

Edgar, you have my vote too. Just remain focused and continue with your widely accepted personality and campaign message to the people.

  26. Interviewer: So ED are you finally trying to make peace with all?
ED: Absolutely. I am a peaceful man. That’s why Michael chose me!
MS: He is not here to confirm that.
ED: Well he left me in charge. So there.
MS: I didn’t see any document confirming that. Bring it to court.

ED shouts, “Oops!” as his walking stick accidentally on purpose turns in to a flying missile directed at someone who looks a lot like MS, who ducks so it hits Chipimo who looks dazed and then tearful. Chipimo finally finds his voice and speaks with a hurt quiver.

“Didn’t Brazil mean anything to you?”

“Forget Rio!” ED roars then smiles remembering the cameras, “I promise to reinstall the memory of Brazil the day you vote me in.”

  27. Why does EL look to have swollen cheeks? May be our friend gets fat only on the cheeks? The rest of the body is slim. What a way of looking fat! If EL was competing with the late MCS, he would have been totally torn asunder. With such looks, the late MCS had no diplomacy and would have hammered the nail on its head, especially if you were to consider abuse of clients’ funds, being sacked by former employers, practicing license being withdrawn by LAZ. Luckily enough we have “sane” competitors this time around. Ask Rupiah if u want to know more about the venom of the late MCS. The late G. Kunda had to die prematurely in order to be permanently out of MCS’ sight. Recall “red lips” slogan! Ba Lungu would have withdrawn voluntarily. MCS was proper fire.

  28. One thing I am yet to read from EL’s fanatical disciples here is WHY exactly they think he will make an excellent president apart from that humble sh!t that does not even qualify. Some of us HH supporters can give you a whole book listing our reasons elo based on merit. EL supporters, even a kama small pamphlet based on merit will be enough. What was that? You need a few weeks to come up with reasons since by the life of you, you cannot think of any right now?…a few months not weeks? Well OK then.

    • Dudelove – You are talking about HH’s business success right? Those are not attributes for a leader – otherwise presidents were going to come exclusively from the rich class. HH is losing.

  29. Edigar Lungu is winning come 21 January 2015. You hate him or not but the truth stands that EL will be in state house on 21 January 2015. The whole country is watching as the cartel tries by all means to bar him but it will not work. We shall all vote for EL so that he finishes the projects of Sata. The clueless HH under 5 is shivering at the name Lungu ….please don’t but leave in you some energy to cry on 21 January 2015.

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia.

  30. Number 29@Predictions, your analysis is factually incorrect. HH is also hated by your group and government machinery. So by your own admission, he will be President? Be real. This time, Zambians are determined to make amends to the 2011 disaster.

  31. those cadres who still believe in edger vodka lungu must be taken to chainama for examination this chakolwa was telling people that he was not in war with guy scott , but check he has expelled guy from the party by merely telling cj to follow the correct lied down rules of the country can you trust a man of that nature never. a visionless is dangerous to lead people to where even himself doesnt know where he taking them. abash drunkerds abash visionless pf. viva hh viva upnd
