Share

A 34 Year old man of Sungwe village in Chief Ishewambuto in Mongu district of Western Province has been accidentally scooped by an excavator loader belonging to AVIC International company constructing the Mongu –Kalabo road.

This happened in the early hours of this morning after the man identified as Nyambe Mutalifelile while drunk decided to rest and went into deep sleep on top of one of the heaps of sand meant for Mongu Kalabo road construction across the Zambezi River.

Western Province Commissioner of Police Lombe Kamukoshi told ZANIS that a Nyambe was in a drunken mood when he slept on a heap of sand in question and was accidentally scooped by the loader which was operated by a Chinese National identified as Fan Sheng aged 42.

Ms. Kamukoshi further noted that the operator only realised that he had hooked a man on the pan of the machine upon seeing the hand swinging half buried in the soil.

She narrated that the victim sustained a serious swollen chest, bruises, general body pains and was rushed to Lewanika General Hospital where he received medical attention.

Lewanika General Hospital Acting Medical Superintendent Likambi Kambinda confirmed having received the patient around 01:20 but regretted that the victim ran away from the admission ward.

      I thank you

    • Apparently you seem to be the only seeing economic sense here! How does a Chinese get a work permit for operation an excavator??! That is PF govt for you my good sir!

    • Zambia accepts Chinese person to come in as a laborer. Other countries accept workers in areas of expertise which show a shortage of manpower. We have Chinese labourers. Shame!

    • Silumba-sa-Sata, I hope it was not you my brother LOL! From the east I enjoyed hanging out with my brothers from the West. We shared a lot of great ideas and stories. Over some delicious fish from the plains.

  1. Hilarious! You just couldn’t make it up.I hope this will wean this poor blighter off the demon drink forever.

    • Now I know that our president Lungu shall win western province, pantu ku Mongu na ku Kaoma Bala bukusa. Pint after pint ROTFLOL! Viva western province, viva Lungu, viva universities in Kaoma and Mongu.

    • My friends Wajimona, Silumba-sa-sata, Zidyana, Python etc. You are just as bad as each other. I am Bemba and have a good Lozi friend. We both do not fit your daft stereotypes. Be minded that there are good and bad people in every tribe but you are too id.iotic to admit that.

  2. Dear LT,
This story is useless in the context of today’s Zambia. I really thought the drunk man was ka Lungu. Try to be relevant to the times, dear LT.

    Thanks.

  3. There was too much beer left after a sell out Edgar Lungu rally. …..our brothers from the western Province really had fun with the in coming president of Zambia the Hon Edgar C Lungu. ……i have said this before and I will say it again..” Lozis are very Patriotic Zambians and get along with all Zambians….we have people like Nyambe Mulenga….just like easterners and Bembas. .you have Chanda Phiri……..Musonda Nyirenda……all Zambians get along very well. ..but not our friends in the Southern Province. ..they need to change and be part of Zambia. If you have lived in the southern Province and you dont speak tonga then you know what am talking about. ..

  4. What about a picture of the event? This might just be another story. Now am skeptcal of news considering the High Court finds it okay for people to publish ‘false news’.

  5. …while I regret the ‘accident’, we cannot downplay the fact that it is irresponsible for any govt to issue a work permit to a Chinese to carry out such category of expertise/operation while hundreds of Zambians with similar skills are rooming on the street……it hurts me to see an Indian(at KCM) operating a not so complex crane, operating a forklift, a tractor, carrying out basic welding, fabrication work etc….

    • @ Scrutinizerer
These permits are not specific! The same Chinese man can be found laying bricks, welding, driving the water bowser, operating the cranes and just about anything. The fact that the Chinese always work long hours to complete projects on time the Lozi chaps always bolt. Their payrol chAnges every month!
I will tell you one thing for sure, I use that road under construction from time to time. The Chinese actually prefer to employ Mbunda guys (BELIVED TO BE AS STRONG AS THE SUDANESE DINKERS sp) as opposed to the tribe of the one who was scooped due to excessive beer drinking and just mere laziness! Immediatley they are paid ninshi kwasila you will never see them again!

    • @…Cosmo
…I appreciate your input bro and your angle of approach….if the permits are not specific then we have a BIG problem with our immigration….some-one was excavator operator a month ago, to-day the same chap is masquerading as a doctor specialised in Chinese traditional herb medicine operating a kama surgery at some street corner……..

I also appreciate your concern about the indigenous being malingalas, drunks, lazy and ‘absconders’….but the immigration process is done before the knowledge of the behaviour of the indigenous…

  6. What names?: Sungwe, Ishewambuto, Mutalifelile, Kamukoshi, Likambi Kambinda and all brought to light because this PF government gave Fan Sheng a work permit to operate a loader instead of that job going to Zambians.

Did Mutalifelile consume all the beers meant for Edgar Lungu last weekend?

  7. awe mwandi i need pipo now 2 join me start a movie industry, such are th story items 2 act. alot of interesting things hapen n zambia. th suspended suspends th suspenders.

  8. It s not an EXCAVATOR LOAD it is simply an EXCAVATOR, THEN MALOZI FUTI KUPUSA , u get drunk to the level that u cant hear the sound of an excavator, the china man was going to cut his stomach, well the Chinese man needs to be FIRED cos. and experienced operator checks his working zone before engaging the hydraulics, t=although inali funny zoona kakwanja mumwamba ka elo DIZZZ HAHAHAH BRE UKO
