Zambia gets FIFA top 50 Christmas present

Share

Zambia will finish 2014 with a top 50 Christmas present on the latest FIFA rankings released today in Zurich.

Honour Janza’s team has jumped another 16 places for a second straight month to land at number 46 in the World.

Last month, Zambia lept from 78 to 62 after spending most of 2014 in freefall that saw Chipolopolo drop to an all-time low at number 88 in the world in September.

Zambia’s improved showing also sees them move into the CAF top ten jumping five notches to number 10 on the continent.

Janza’s side is now within earshot Cape Verde who are at number 40 the second highest ranked in Group B at the 2015 Africa Cup.

Cape Verde are number seven in Africa while Tunisia is 22nd in the World and two in Africa.

DR Congo, who Zambia face in their Group B opening game on January 18, are at number 56 and 13th on the CAF charts.

  2. Viva Chipolopolo, Viva Zambia … go get them bullets! We need the cup at home next year again. What A Sweet Life!!!

  3. Go Chipolopolo,go! We expect a tough and interesting opening match gainst DR Congo, the least ranked in our group. Wishing the Chipopolo all the best preparations and luck to pull through the group stage, though will be missing services of Nyambe Mulenga at the back.

  4. Congratulations Chipolopolo boys. Bring the trophy home. They stole it from us in 2013. We were too still tired to defend it just after 1year.
