UPND has sued Bishop Edward Chomba for defamation of character. Chomba has been dragged to court for openly calling UPND President Hakainde Hichilema as a Satanist and freemason who will devour the children one elected President.
According to a statement of claim filed in the Lusaka High Court Mr Hichilema has stated that he has been severely injured in his credit and reputation and has been brought into scandal, odium and contempt.
PF president Edgar Lungu and party secretary general Davies Chama have also been sued as the first and second defendants respectively for not directing their members or supporters to observe the electoral code of conduct.
On Tuesday, Acting President Guy Scott unreservedly apologized to UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema over a statement linking him to Satanism issued by Bishop Edward Chomba at a PF rally in Kabwe.
He said Bishop Chomba is fraud who has run away from problems in the USA adding that he was not even invited to speak at the Kabwe rally but merely forced himself on stage.
“Allow me to wholeheartedly and unqualifiedly offer the apology of the PF leadership to Hakainde Hichilema and anybody else who by implication was accused of eating babies and drinking blood and so on and for forth by a certain bogus Bishop who forced himself on stage, he didn’t even tell us who he was,’ Dr Scott claimed.
Dr Scott added, ‘This Bishop Chomba just appeared on the stage and started saying he was Bishop this Bishop that Chomba, who I think he had some problems in the US and decided to come here. He has been proved to be a complete fraud many times’
‘Like I said, we apologise wholeheartedly, we don’t want a campaign based on taking advantage of people’s ignorance and superstitions, we want a campaign based on development, education and health and democracy. So please take that as one hundred percent position of the PF.’

Off all the presidential candidates HH Score card is better on a number of issues. The only problem he has to sort out is tribal. I need my kids to have bursaries for university on merit and to be denied on tribal grounds is the reason I’m not voting for HH.

In zambia, when the the opposition is heading in opinion polls, they end up winning the election. Just yesterday, many of those people endorsed Edgar Lungu, they are from eastern province who wanted Mr. Banda to be presidential candidate. So Lungu have not added anything. HH has gained ground in PF strong hold such as Lusaka and and copperbelt. These are provinces who put SATA in power. Banda got those votes like North-western because they thought Banda would win the elections, I have no dought, Lungu will win in eastern province, Muchinga province, Luapula and Northern provinces without dought but remember, HH will come strong second in these places. I don’t see Edger Lungu to do the same in western province, southern, North-western provinces and even Central even SATA failed.!!

Don’t pretend not to know the Zambian political landscape. Most Zambian political leaders are on record to have sued somebody else for a defamatory remark against them. People have been calling HH as “Under Five” for decades. He has never sued nor retaliated. He has never hit back. That is what is called “thick skinned.” Bishop Chomba has a foul mouth. ANDREW BANDA CALLED SATA A SATANIST
LUSAKA (AFP) – The son of Zambia’s former president Rupiah Banda was arrested Thursday on charges of defaming his father’s successor, his lawyer told AFP.
Andrew Banda was picked up by police at a court, where he was answering unrelated charges of graft in connection with road building contracts.
“He has been charged with the offence of defamation of the president but has been released without bond,” said lawyer Milner Katolo.
Police claim that Andrew Banda told a recent political gathering not to go to Michael Sata’s rallies because the president is a Satanist and so they risked being sacrificed. He is expected to report to a police station on Friday.

Well done UPND for taking this move. The law in Zambia on slander is very clear. It is very important to let the law run its course on this Bogus Bishop to send a strong message to everybody that slander is wrong at all times. Full stop.
The other equally important and necessary step is for the law to act on slanderers through blogging online. It always surprises me the number of bloggers on LT who do not know that the fact that each individual PC, iPad or Smartphone can be traced. (Note, I am not talking about the silly sim card registration). Each gadget logged on to internet has a unique individual address. An IP address.
For example, on xmas eve in Scotland a couple of sick minded bloggers were easily traced and arrested when they put up slanderous and very hurtful …..
cont’d…….hurtful comments online earlier in the week. This was after a 7 tonne refuse collecting truck went out of control in the town centre of Glasgow and ploughed into xmas shoppers, killing and inuring a number of people. Obviously the silly bloggers thought they were untraceable online with alias names and all that. Big mistake.
