Movie review – Exodus Gods and Kings

Share

exodus

Egyptian Princes Moses (Christian Bale) and Ramses (Joel Edgerton) are raised together as brothers. When Ramses becomes pharaoh, Moses is his most-trusted adviser. However Moses soon discovers his Hebrew parentage, and Ramses banishes him to the desert — often a death sentence. But God has a mission for Moses: Free the Israelites from slavery. Moses returns from exile and demands that Ramses let his people go, but the arrogant ruler is unmoved, leading to a battle of divine wills.

Pros

  • Great acting by the whole cast . Christian Bale did an amazing job with his portrayal of Moses .
  • An excellent job was done making the plagues look realistic and devastating .

Cons

  • Some important moments in the actual bible story were not shown in the movie .

Favorite quotes

Rhamses: You sleep well because you know that you’re loved. I’ve never sleep that well.

Moses: Follow me and you will be free. Stay and you will perish.

Conclusion

The bible story of Moses is brought to the big screen in this adaptation . This movie has been criticized for its  many for historical inaccuracies , but i chose to watch it as it was and not keep referring to the bible story. As a stand alone movie it is very good . It has a compelling storyline that will touch your heart . The brother-like relationship between Rhamses and Moses was nicely developed . Gods wrath on the Egyptian with the plagues was shown expertly .

The inaccuracies can actually be looked at as a good thing , because it will cause more people to go back to their bibles to find out what really happened .

  1. Its so odd. When there’s a movie about Zeus or Thor everyone recognizes the fictional nature of those magical stories. Yet so many people THINK that these magical christian stories are real. It would be comical if it wasn’t so sad. Our species needs to grow up.
As for this movie, as long as its written, directed and acted well then I’ll enjoy it as much as any other well done piece of entertainment because I can distinguish between fantasy and reality.?

  2. Folks,

Do you know that the true hebrews used to be black and that african americans and all the people of african origin linked to slavery are the true Isrealites.

    Jesus was black
    Abraham was black
    Moses was black
    Paul was black.

The original Egyptians used to be black until Arabs invaded the middle east and north africa.

Did you know that Poland some 100 hrs ago used to warship a black Jesus called Madona. The origianl paintings of Jesus were black until the Romans erased the black image on the planet.

The pyramids were belt by black people (Hebrews).
Joseph took Jesus to Egypt for fear of Pharoah. The family blended well with locals and these were Cush/Egyptians (Black people).

Check more information on Youtube. The truth is now in the open. We were deprived of…

  3. Won’t bother watching this because I have a feeling it is as bad as ‘Noah’ which I failed to finish watching.

  4. Kwena abantu ngabati babepe! And God saves the Israelites from the Egyptians!! Is that believable? Why would God take sides when he created both the Egyptians and the Israelites? It all goes to show this is just Israeli folklore

    • Chachine kwena if God created all of us why would he love some and hate others? Imagine! God is said to love Israelis who in turn loved the apartheid regime in S Africa with whom they had diplomatic ties. That would mean God loves apartheid! Awe mwe!
