Some Zambians in diaspora endorse Hakainde Hichilema(updated)

Zambians in diaspora have endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND. In a meeting held Yesterday in Central London, Zambians from all walks of life and political parties (UPND,PF,NAREP,ADD and MMD) resolved to endorse the candidature of president Hichilema. They are convinced that HH is the only candidate with vibrancy, energy, knowledge and Commitment to liberate Zambia from its economic disasters.
At the same meeting, Zambians asked the UPND to seriously commit themselves to improving the lives of many Zambians. They asked the UPND to adhere to the following commitments or they risk being voted out of power.

Zambians in diaspora demand UPND to:-

  1. Deliver economic liberation and empower poor Zambians.
  2. Seriously commit on the dual Citizenship to help skills transfer.
  3. Pay the Farmers that have not been paid by PF Government up to now, since supplying maize in July 2014.
  4. Give poor student’s Bursaries and increase their meal allowances.
  5. Reduce the price fuel and mealie meal.
  6. Reduce the government spending on by-elections and direct such resources to improve health and education.
  7. Reduce the size of government unlike the present situation that has over 63 Ministers
  8. Improve Health facilities and buy modern diagnostic machines and Provide medicine in hospitals for Poor Zambians
  9. Pay back the loan of $7 Billion obtained in 3 years by PF Government
  10. Lower the cost of doing business
  11. Provide free education for majority of poor Zambians
  12. Remove wage freeze and employment freeze for suffering civil servants and unemployed youths in Zambia
  13. Create REAL jobs for Zambians and not jobs of rehabilitating roads.
  14. Last but not the least, Give Zambians a people driven constitution.

    • I support my fellow diaspora brothers. Especially the issue of dual citizenship is way long overdue. Who wants to be permanently Zambia where they dont respect the rule of law? We deserve options. I left Zambia 17 years ago and Im glad that I did cause I would not have achieved anything had I stayed. I still come to visit every now and then. Its just fair to ask for dual citizenship so that everyone can decide where to stay and when to return home without any restrictions.

      There are so many skills that we can bring back home if we not restricted. If HH wins, he must implement all these requests from the Zambians in diaspora.

      Any way whether I did attend the meeting or not, I strongly support HH for many reasons among which are those in Larry’s list. HH is the only candidate with a vision to move Zambia forward.

      HH has something to show for it. How can Zambia settle for a failure Lungu and hope for the best from this incompetent person who has tried so many professions in which he has either been dismissed or disciplined for gross misconduct. Zambians should dismiss this Lungu.

      Lungu as one Mushota puts it,is a disaster about to happen. Though PF constantly refute it, it will come to pass soon just as it did in Sata’s case who was as fit as a fiddle so PF told us.

  33. I’m right now in Scotland at a University and have endorsed HH. I have managed to talk to my relatives to give HH the maximum votes needed to usher him into State House. He is the right candidate at the moment who can move Zambia Forward. Zambia right now is wallowing in abject poverty and need someone who can turn around the economy. HH team is best. He needs to include think tank in his cabinet and not just mere cadres we have in PF the likes of bena Jean Kapata, Chishimba Kambwili, Kampyongo etc. Those mentioned chaps and others have nothing to offer to the Zambian people. We need to see our country move from the doldrums of poverty to prosperity. HH should porch Given Lubinda from PF. The man is smart and has interest to serve the country.

    • When the even ended, those with transport did not offer stranded people a lift to the nearest Night Bus stops a few minutes drive out. Two women, a 50 and 64 year old sat up in McDonalds 24 hour restaurant to wait for the buses to start running again! Zambians in the ‘diaspora’ are pathetic!

    I beg your pardon. I am/have NOT ENDORSED HH! Some of these UK Zambians are a bunch of fakes. I have lived in the UK since 1979, mostly London, and I can tell you that Zambians are a grotesque lot. They avoid each other, would never stick out for fellow Zambians or show interest in their well being. If you go to any event such as Independence celebrations, they stick in their own groupings and never open to their new friends attending. We made an effort for the 50 year Jubilee celebrations and went to mingle far out of London. We paid the organiser £35 each and we had to scrap around for some tuck as they served their known groups with no conscious of their friends they took money from.

No one in PF has even explained why this travesty of our farmers suffering continues.     For your information, if I were in Zambia, I would have cast my vote for Edgar Lungu, as I would have done for the late Michael Sata, MHSRIP, and not Hakainde Hichilema. Sorry.

  52. I am not sure whether this Mweetwa is PhD candidate as he call himself. I, a student in Masters studies cannot pronounce that misleading statement. This can be left to low educated people who say things like Chongwe no go area for PF, Western Province no go area for PF, N/Western Province no go area for PF. Southern Province no go area for PF. Northern Province no go area for UPND. These statements in Zambian politics do not work. Worse you say “by Larry Mweetwa”. When you know the implication. Or if they were other tribe you could have made them to make this pronouncement not you.
    Just like you forged that Zambians in diaspora have endorsed President Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND you should have forged the name. e.g Larry Banda, Larry Mutale.

    UPND UK Branch has existed from Mazoka days and here there is freedom of speech and association.

    I remember attending UPND UK Branch’s well organised dinner dance at Connaught function rooms Holbon, London back in 2000, English television presenter and former professional footballer of Nigerian John Fashanu was as guest of honour.

    I was happy to be present at this year’s UPND UK Branch membership card renewal last night. I am not Tonga but found the event interactive and useful as we reflect on the forthcoming Elections.

    I may be a small lone voice, poor, in dire straits but I endorse HH. HH faka speed mufana, HH faka malasha!

To be fair the author made it clear in in the body of the article that he is issuing the statement on behalf of those that were at the gathering he and some of the Zambians in the diaspora specifically in London attended. He never purported or implied that this statement was on behalf of all the Zambians in the diaspora. If any one is to blame its the editir who created or allowed such a missleading headline. Lastly please remember london is not heaven its just another place on earth.

  78. Dear, dear this is embarrassing! Not the endorsement declaration itself or the ‘diaspora’ claim that everyone seems to be worked on. Rather the wish list demands imposed on UPND. I didn’t that to come from the diasporas, let alone a PhD student. It’s all about spending, spending and more spending without any single suggestion on how to create the money to spend on this Santa Claus list. Surely I expected a declaration made by Diaspora to be something meaningful, proper economical and technical advice based on sound education and judgment. Demanding a free education without spelling how it will be funded is naive. Leave that stuff to my old grannies in the village and my street vendors folks with low education. I say this list is impossible to achieve.

  80. Meanwhile in a continuing development some students at the CBU have just been informed that they will not be able to sit for their final examinations due to non payment of fees. Some of these students are failing to pay fees because their parents are farmers and they are still waiting on government to pay them so they can take care of their responsibility of sponsoring their children. As it has been said these PF failures do affect people in very real ways. Please and again I say PLEASE SAVE OUR FARMERS VOTE HH! !!!
