President Edgar Lungu has with immediate effect removed Attorney-General Mr. Musa Mwenye from his position.

President Lungu’s decision is pursuant to Article 54 (5) of the Constitution of Zambia. In letter signed today, the President thanked Mr. Mwenya for the services rendered to the nation.

Meanwhile President Lungu has appointed Major-General David Muma as Deputy Commander of the Zambia Airforce.

“In exercise of the powers vested in me pursuant to the provisions of Article 33(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia and the provisions of the Defence Act, I hereby promote you to the rank and status of Major-General and appoint you as Deputy Commander in the Zambia Airforce with immediate effect,” President Lungu said in a letter to Gen. Muma.

In another development, the President has revoked the nomination of Mr. Daniel Munkombwe as Member of Parliament and swore-in Mr. Nathaniel Mubukwanu as Provincial Minister to take over from Mr. Daniel Munkombwe.

The Head of State said this in Lusaka today when he swore-in Mr. Mubukwanu, Zambia’s High Commissioner to Namibia Ms. Sylvia Chalikosa and Mr. Hibeene Mwiinga as Special Assistant to the President for Economic Development Affairs.

The President stressed that he would want as much as possible to ensure that his advisory unit at State House and Cabinet were as tribally and gender- balanced as much as possible whilst maintaining merit as the overriding criteria.

The President explained that although he did not know Mr. Mwiinga personally, he was impressed by his qualifications and experience and therefore he deemed it fit to appoint him.

      1). Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska

      2). Zambia Security Intelligence Service (ZSIS) OOP(SD)- General Martin Mwanambale.

      But don’t consider his Deputy Nkhoma for the DG position. He is useless and highly compromised mole.

      3). The long list should include ZRA which needs mopping with detail. We will share details through established channels.

      Its time we restored sanity to the country and de-cartilize it ASAP.

      Methodical investigations should be immediately launched on assets stripping from the Zamdrop investigations recoveries. Mark Chona, Mutembo and M’membe must be scanned with detail including their proxies. A lot was recovered yet it has all but been plundered. The millions of US dollars gone in Zamdrop investigations turned out to be a double jeopardy.

    • Dora’s analysis was deeper than what you are referring to. The costs she anticipated were mainly linked to voting in a President with the least number of members of parliament. If HH had won the presidency, it was more than likely that we would have seen more defections from the PF, creating additional bye-elections and/or the inability for HH to carry out his mandate because he does not have the numbers in parley to help him do this, which would lead to dissolving parliament and having even more bye-elections. Dropping Musa Mwenye to appoint another person, will not take away much from the country coffers. Its tampering with the MPs that costs more money.

  11. Going by the appointments that President Lungu has made to his government so far, I think he’s started on a good note. For a change, we are going to see the PF government sharing the national cake equitably. Well done Mr. President!

The announcement of the President’s death should have been done by the Acting President Mr Lungu, not the Secretary to the Cabinet

    • Yes, Guy Scott should be spared. He may have made some mistakes but that man is an icon. We saw how he ran this government the little time he was he acted as president. It’s only that the nature of our politics here Zambia and Africa generally are politics of patronage – you have to show allegiance to the leader otherwise you are gone. If it was a good system Guy Scott would have done more for Zambia.
      I also think that our President may have been advised by Mugabe to remove Scott and discard him off. Mugabe knows what the UK can do through Scott in taking Zambia’s development programmers ahead and that’s a threat to him. He doesn’t want anything white on his way. We should have been a little careful there and this is not the only thing to say about Scott.

Yes,EL regional/tribal balancing is good but some areas are difficult to satisfy.However much you appoint their people or how much you try to balance development projects, they may just refuse to vote for you as long as you do not come from their region or tribe. You will have seen how many zeros you scored in some provinces despite what PF has done there in terms of developments (which in some cases is better than in some of PF’s strongholds). Balance well but do not loose sight of keeping your traditional voting blocks (strongholds) especially for political jobs like Ministers- as will need them when chips are down. As for technocrats,criteria should always be quality (merit) above all! And remember a good business person keeps old customers satisfied before chasing after new ones!

    • Point on! Kaunda did not get serious votes from some regions despite his tribal balancing. Please just appoint brainy people regardless of tribes – they are all over in all the 10 provinces. Stop the tribal vibe. We need brains and not tribes. Of course not in the Sata style – where he only saw brains in Bembaland.

MCS didnt have a human constitution only an animal one, EL comes in and starts the process of the constitution, he is addressing the equitable sharing of resources. the only thing i can advise him is to atleast discuss with UPND leadership before appointing their MPs. if they refuse, then he can tell us they have refused and then he can go ahead to appoint on individual basis.

  58. The firing of Musa Mwenye should be viewed by all well-meaning Zambian as a positive actions, which is good for the nation. You are all aware on how Musa Mwenye misled the whole nation in believing that it was legally correct for Edgar Lungu now our Republican President to handover instruments of power to Dr Scort. Imagine what would have happened had President Edgar Lungu resisted to hand over power. This man would have led this country into civil-unrest, as you all know the mood in the county at the time it was extremely charged. So this man would have led to a lot of dying as a result of his being overzealous and just wanting to satisfy his ego.
    In fact this matter should not end at just being fired. The legal mind should help to find which law of the country should be used on this…

Why couldn’t Musa consult government lawyers who saw the smooth transition of power previously. The guy is too full of himself.     • Musa abetted a treasonable crime. Not preempting any action. It is something to do with dual nationality and ganging up of M’membe, Mahtani, Matibini, Nchito, Musa, Maureen, Guy Scott and Hakainde to finish PF off. There are billions at stake.

Has he now been rewarded for whatever his roll was in the recent elections? Just wondering. My gut feeling is that this euphoria will be short lived and you will be glad not to be part of the mess that will soon to manifest itself! I mean in a matter of months!

  66. If it is proved that Musa Myenye’s action is treasonable, can someone please commence the legal proceeding with immediate effect on this man. I say so because this man would have made this country ungovernable had it not be for Mr Edga Lungu to act in a mature manner at the time.
    Also I am asking LAZ to commerce disciplinary action against Musa Mwenya for conducting himself in unprofessional manner.

  69. I am suprised at this Bemba tribal talk or “sorting out”. The race was between Lungu a Chewa and HH a Tonga! Mutati & GBM; who are Bembas supported HH whilst RB and Dora supported EL. Nevers Mumba (198 votes) a Bemba contestant lost in his own Chinsali district (HH381 votes) ! Further, Musa Mwenye is Soli/Sala. He is being accussed to be part of the cartel but has the cartel of Mmembe, Nchito & Mhathani got a “Bemba” agenda or a DBZ agenda? HH backed out the UPND/PF Pact on his own accord otherwise he would have been in EL’s (shoes) President today. Who’s fault is it? Bemba’s. Fellow bloggers get a life and move on. Eeish! If not go & join politics & make the difference u desire. Period!

  70. My message to President Lungu is that Secretary to the Cabinet – Roland Msiska must be dropped. If this advice is not taken he is the man who will make PF lose elections in 2016. He is not an administrator but a physician who has made the operation of the Civil Service wholly ineffectual. A lot of work which used to be carried out by Civil Servants is not being done because of abolition of Committees by Msiska just to prevent a Civil Servant from getting even a K50 meal allowance

    • I think one of the problems as I get it from these Tribalists is that they are made to speak Bemba at his work place. Honestly who forces you to do that, just speak yo Tonga man, don’t be intimidated by those speaking Icibemba

  73. Some Zambians – easily swayed again. Lungu relieves Musa Mwenye of his position and they start ‘ululating’ Lungu – ati ‘ muntu sana’. In any case, I did not see anything wrong that the AG did. The Vice-President acts as President for three months when the sitting President dies. End of story. Lungu hasn’t started working yet. If ever he will. He is just going through the motions. Some of which may already be questionable.
