Macha Hospital runs out of essential drugs

Share

The Macha Hospital management says the hospital has run out of some essential drugs and other medical supplies.

The Hospital’s Executive Director Abraham Mhango says the health institution was however waiting upon the Medical stores Limited to quickly respond to its order for drugs for his institution’s drug and medical needs.

Among the items in short supply are urine bags, Diclofinac a pain killer, Carbamazapine and combivir an anti-retro-viral drug for children.

This was disclosed yesterday when Southern Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu paid a visit to the two institutions accompanied by the Provincial Medical officer, Dr. Jelita Chinyonga and other
government officials.

He however, explained that an alternative drug called Abacavor is being administered to children who take combivir while awaiting for the next consignment to arrive.

The minister visited Medical Stores in Choma to find out what was causing the delay.

And Medical Stores Hub Manager Happy Sianga explained that the consignment is received from Lusaka but that the institution had been stock taking for the past two weeks which had caused the delay by 10 working days.

He added that the drugs and other medical supplies are expected to be in by Friday next week.

  1. That’s your PF for you & it continuity-We told you,no one should complain for voting for uncivilised visionless leaders!

    • Watch out for rebranded PF my brother, tour HH will soon be irrelevant due to the good works PF will put in, watch this space..

    • We entirely support this working holiday your Excellency. Clean up the mess both in Government hospitals, Government Agents and institutions that will make your Government deliver serious development now and beyond 2016 to the expectations of your people. Zambia is not just Lusaka and am sure you are more than informed that a lot of people did not support your effort when it mattered most and these should not pretend to be good to you toady simply because you are now in State House.

There are many young men and women who were with you through hard times whilst most big bwanas in higher offices had their legs in two camps and supporting your enemies.

This is time to reflect and put your devoted and loyal team to work.

      God bless you your Excellency.

  2. Clearly Medical stores doesn’t seem to have the right systems to avoid stockouts. Firstly it took them 2 weeks to conduct stocktaking, secondly they could not pro actively predict stock levels required in the facilites during their stocktaking, thirdly the Choma MSL hub was unable to mitigate the shortage, fourthly is that no one knows what level of waste or thieft happens at the facility and finally the real cost required to satisfy the actual need of all supplies and commodities is unknown . They need to invest in some ICT solutions along the entire supply chain, conduct a proper quantification and costing exercise, develop a commercial model for private sector facilities, ramp up resource mobilization and pro actively procure and manage the entire supply chain.

  3. Very true…continuing from where the other useless Sata left off.Neglecting the plight of ordinary people. No medicine and Lungu is busy trying to look like a choir boy to the outside world.
MEDIOCRE LEADERSHIP WITH NO VISION AT WORK.

STILL NO COMPLETE CABINET….WE NEED HH IN 2016

    • Dogwatch, weather HH or who ever comes into GRZ, donor funding is owez a problem. You think HH is ll ever get his money from his pocket,no ways.infact Dog you don’t even pay tax,how do you expect GRZ to function. Analyse critically.

    • @zambian watchdog. For your own information HH is history. The Friends of UPND(rebel MPs from MMD & PF) have advised upnd to drop HH for 2016. They have said HH is like Winter Kabimba. The two cannot be accepted by electorates. The group have proposed Garry Nkombo or Felix Mutati to stand for 2016.

  4. @linkman your script made very interesting reading especially that I am also from supply chain system.. Pls keep it up,
@watchdog you can even read the difference btn your nonsense of a script and the one by linkman it’s purely professional nt cheap back yard politics… Outline what you think will work before you criticise..

  5. Donchi kubeba at work….God please help Zambia….and soon Zambia will be hosting 10 African leaders whilst the medicine cabinets at the hospitals are empty.
    HH please come help Zambia.

  6. I wonder when medical stores will supply commodities on time. They are always behind, it doesn’t feel good to tell patients that we are stocked out of this and that when reports mostly are sent n time.

  8. HH is history indeed. The rebels that supported him at the recent presidential elections have recommended Garry Nkombo to take over from him. They have argued that in whatever form you package him, HH is not saleable. Watch the space ………it will soon be Garry for 2016.
