Reappointed Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe says he will always remind President Edgar Lungu of the promises he made to the people in the province during campaigns of deliver effective development.

Mr. Sikazwe, who has thanked President Lungu for reappointing him as Northern Province Minister, said he will work hard and will not to let down the Head of State.
Mr. Sikazwe told QFM News in a telephone interview that President Lungu has a short period of time to deliver the much needed development and that this is why he will always remind the President of his campaign promises.

He said the people of Kaputa and Mporokoso should not be worried about the rehabilitation of the roads because President Lungu is a man of his words. He said one of the greatest challenges the people in the province are facing is poor water reticulation which he believes President Lungu will help address.

Mr. Sikazwe, who is also Mpulungu Member of Parliament, said failure by the PF to deliver on most of the campaign promises made before 2016 will make it difficult to convince the people to vote for the party.
Mr. Sikazwe has however, expressed hope that with President Lungu in the highest office in the land, he will deliver according to the needs of the people.

Meanwhile tiff between Patriotic Front (PF) Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba and the PF leadership in Northern Province has been re-ignited with renewed calls for him to leave the ruling party. Mr Sikazwe challenged Mr Mwamba to resign from the PF and prove his popularity in a by-election.

He accused Mr Mwamba of being scared of relinquishing his seat because the election which saw President Edgar Lungu elected proved that Mr Mwamba did not wield influence on the voters in the area looking at the number of votes he delivered for his preferred presidential candidate.

“I am going to move a motion when the PF central committee convenes to expel GBM from the party,” Mr Sikazwe said.

He urged Mr Mwamba to also withdraw the case currently before court challenging his expulsion for another set of disciplinary charges.

Mr Mwamba in a phone interview from South Africa with a local community radio station responded that Mr Sikawzwe was eager to see him leave the party because he was just looking forward to the funds that a by-election would avail him.

  1. Mr Freedom Sikazwe, the happy man! Although I do not agree with the idea of any more byes before GE 2016, I wish to caution Freedom that he should not read too much into the tribal voting that characterised the 2015 elections. GBM is not Tonga, so they can vote him as their son; what they were told to vote against is a Tonga, HH – no matter what and who shouted! So, don’t provoke the people to anger, Freedom!

  2. The man worked for it and he deserves it. Mr. sikazwe is a very strong hearted man, the terrain was very ragged during the Presidential campaigns in the Northern Province, but he stoo his ground. Let us call a spade a spade and not a BIG SPOON.
