President Lungu appoints two MMD MP’s, Given Lubinda bounces back as his cabinet takes shape

   • Lord of fimo fimo, whether you like it or not, RB through EL is breaking the spine of the Muchinga cartel. Also if those guys are not Bemba, then HH is not Tonga too as he is Ila actually. The job of information minister is always given top people you want to hung or those who are about to commit suicide or simply said those with nothing to lose. This is the reason Kambwili has been given this position. It is a very tricky one and from there it is very difficult to be liked by the nation.

   • Wanzelu. ECL can only appoint the MPs he nominates and elected MPs to cabinet positions and usually from his own party to avoid potential bye elections. With this scenario ba Wanzelu which MPs did you want ECL to appoint to cabinet knowing that most of the PF MPs are from North Eastern “Rhodesia” from which he can appoint? The term proportional representation (PR) is an electoral systems by which divisions in an electorate are reflected proportionately in the elected body. If 2% of the electorate support a particular political party, then roughly 2 % of seats will be won by that party which translates to 3 MPs in a 150 seat parliament. The advantage of this system is that you can choose anybody to represent the party. Julius Malema of the EFF in RSA chose some MPs from the poor as MPs.

3. Interesting cabinet, I think Kambwili as a street thug and action oriented man should have gone to Local Government where the likes of him and the issues are well suited for his character.

   I pitty him because with his lack of verbal discipline, and being already public enemy, this position will just cement his legacy as public enemy number 1.

   Only two people who have help this position have come out with their reputation intact and these are Dr Katema and Given Lubinda.

   Am afraid Kambwili will join the list of the hated people like Alex Shapi, Kamalondo, Shikapwashya, Mike Mulongoti, Tentamashimba,Kennedy Sakeni, etc. The Government spokesperson position is brutal when it come to damaging politicians’s perception with the public. Good luck Kambwili

   • Good observation. However, local government is very complex. Kambwili has been given that role because he appears not to care about his own reputation. Also, Kambwili in effect, will not be providing critical information as this role is vested in Amos Chanda at State House.

   • For the first time in a long time MMD CBL has said it rightly. Kambwili will only alienate the already weak PF from the masses as information minister due to his diarrhoea of the mouth. Local government would have been more ideal to intimidate councils around the country. It is good news for us who believe that PF cant deliver.

   • Kambwili has been set up to fail and rightly so. Guys like that need to be removed from cabinet. Rather than EL doing it, he’ll let that man fall on his own sword.

   • Kambwili is not the right person to head Ministry of Information. He tries to intimidate people and very soon he will try his tactics with journalists, try to squash freedom of the press and speech. President Lungu please caution this man so that he only bullies his family.

4. The appointment of two opposition MPs into full ministerial capacity is a first. That said, it is clear that the battleground for 2016 will be the MMD MPs that will stand on different tickets. One thing that has to change before 2016- Alexander Chikwanda will have to leave the ministry of Finance (he is better in Defense if you still want him). A finance minister must have the gut to tell you to stop spending.

   • No Chikwanda will influence power using the defence forces to his fellow kolwestans. He should be retired- enough is enough. Edgar is mindful of that. however he has done it well this time by appointing more of the same kolwestans who were in Sata’s government as he still owes gratitude to Sata and his people. Come 2016, RB’s team will set in once he has his own mandate if he wins.

     I don’t think E.L had a choice when it comes to Chikwanda’s appointment. Its out of loyalty I guess because as we all know, despite him (Chikwanda) not being very vocal during the divisions in the party, he is the one who called the shots from behind the scenes.
     However, I feel that maybe, just maybe Chikwanda should have been given defence and for the Finance post, some ‘outsiders’ who handled MoF well (in my view) in the past like Ng’andu Magande or Situmbeko Musokotwane could have been considered.

   • Why MMD Chief Boot Liker is speaking positively is because Lungu is his fellow Easterner. In other words, Bootliker is a tribalist who supports his tribesmates. That’s why he has toned down and has become like a PF

I think we need someone like him. Chikwanda will take the country into further debt no doubt. It will be a pity!

   • This Magande you wish had been given the opportunity had good chemistry with LPM (MHSRIP), seems they listened to each other and moreover LPM was careful on expenditure. Remember he questioned the alcohol bill for his pantry? “Who drank all this alcohol? I only drink water!”

13. Why should president Lungu say he is ready to replace? Let him not think that he is too clever than others, He is in that position purely by personal appointment by former late president Sata. And those PF MPs who stood on that and ensured he won the election.

    ECL had no clue, no vision he stood and relied on Sata’s work legacy etc. And his promise to continue with Sata’ vision made him carry the day. So we want to see him continue with the PF Manifesto

    What wrong did Prof Luo commit for her to go to Gender, an educated woman, a profferssor in medicine. And she even fought hard for him during the election

    • It is unfair to state that Pres. Edgar Lungu had no vision before. Many political visions are built through campaigns. Look, even yourself, perhaps you have no dream of becoming a president, but if it happens that you fall in line to become one, there are probably things you want for Zambia that you never thought you would influence. Every constructive human being has a dream. As for Prof. Luo, she is not the most effective technocrat. She is moving from the position of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs to Gender? These are both social roles and I have not seen any ranking of the importance of one ministry over the other. Are you saying Gender issues are less important than tradional affairs?     • Nkandu Luo lumpenised with Jean Kapata by attacking ZNBC. That is not behaviour expected of a professor. Before this, she mislead HE MCS to be at war with Mune Lubemba Chitimukulu Kanyanta Manga II of the Bemba speaking people. This was very painful to most Bemba people. As rightfully put by HE ECL, government has no business interfering in tradition succession plans. Therefore Nkandu Luo may be a professor but she behaves like a cadre, pure and proper.

It was reported in Newspapers that there is US$163 million project to connect all districts in NW to the national grid,the design of the Solwezi-Chingola road dual carriage way has been completed awaiting funding for construction.There could be more being done and more yet to be done but that needs to be communicated to the electorate.The underdevelopment of NW is not PF’s making but some parties have been using it to decampaign PF.Even MMD who had more time to develop the province have been using it.But also note that Masumba and some two others were PF government albeit as Deputies.
